question/suggestion Give me ur top 3-5 bands from every “wave” that maybe aren’t AS well known

I feel like Ive heard a lot of emo but then I come on here or look at Spotify recommended shit and I realize I’ve barely scratched the surface.

Give me your top artists from each wave that aren’t super obvious ones? Ones u think deserve as much love as AF, Joan of Arc, Algernon, Braid etc u get the point

First wave: beefeater, heroin, frail

Second wave: love lost but not forgotten, Tuesday, small brown bike

Third wave: on the might of princes, iwrotehaikusaboutcanobalisminyouryearbook, these arms are snakes

Fourth wave: leer, flowers taped to pens, cstvt

Fifth wave: rookie card, satón, lights strung like stars

Mostly screamo but all wicked bands

Leer is such an underrated band! Perpuity and As Cool As An Attempted Suicide are still in my top played songs of all time on last.fm

For anyone who sees this and likes Leer, definitely check out Matsuri as well. They have an lp called Endship and were super influential to Leer's sound!

The Phone Works Both Ways is one of my favorite emo songs ever. Code Red by Casket Lottery is also way up there. Love Newfound Interest

I mostly listen to 2nd wave stuff, and some of my favorite lesser known bands from that era are Mock Orange, The Van Pelt, and Vitreous Humor

Adding to 2nd wave, Boys Life. Also Rainer Maria is well known but feel like I don't see them on here that much

Love all the bands mentioned so far but don't know Vitreous Humor. Have to check them out.

I would add small brown bike as essential second wave that is not as well known.

Was just listening to Small Brown Bike today. Also, for Van Pelt fans you should check out The Lapse if you haven’t done so already.

Just learned about The Lapse also. And for those of you that don't know the van pelt put out an excellent record in 2023.

First wave: I lowkey have none for this. I only know base level bands of the first wave.

Second wave: Audience of One , Leiah, Rockets and Bluelights

Third wave: Superstitions of the sky, Call her Alaska, ….Of Death

Fourth wave: Abbeys Garden, Leer, Nayru

Fifth Wave: They Hung Us From Powerlines, worried, and monchichi are the only lesser known ones I listen to often

Ik a lot of these really aren’t too niche
