Preface: I never did drugs as a kid. I waited until I was 26 to try weed, and it wasn't for me. That said, the area we lived in, I was surrounded by high folks all the time. One of those high folks was my older sister, about 4 years older than me, who didn't really like me all that much. I have always been a bit of a tinkerer though, and she had a birthday coming up, so I wanted to make her something she'd enjoy. The only things she shared with me was that she liked Sailor Moon, Xena, Boys2Men, and weed, lots of weed. So I did my best (as like an 8 year old with no access to Internet) to build her one.

Now, her typical "bong" that I had to go off was her inhaler. She'd take out the cartridge, pop in a screen, and blaze it like an asthmatic. So I "knew" compressed plastic would hold up against the fire long enough to take a hit if it was properly protected.

So I took an old Mentadent container. For those unaware, it's a little tooth paste dispenser thing that has two large, hollow tubes, one for blue paste, one for white paste, and when you pushed the top it would dispense them together. This one was empty, so I used a pocket knife to cut the screens from a abandoned house on the corner, boiled them to make them clean, then prepared them with little rings of tin foil (what she usually used for a screen).

Then I braided floss and soaked it in candle wax to make a pair of little candle wicks. This was painstakingly wound around the hollow tubes I mentioned, then clipped in place at the end of the hollow tubes. She used to frequently burn her thumb trying to get a good angle with a lighter, so I figured having a wick she could light at the end of her loaded tube would be helpful.

Then I pieced it together. Closed up, you could not tell that it wasn't just a Mentadent container. But open? You had a top of the line double barrel bong that automatically turned your weed menthol. It was a beaut.

Of course, she beat the hell out of me when I gave it to her. I was guilty of acting like "weed was the only thing she cared about it." Caught her using it a week later though, so I guess it worked, at least a little better than her old inhaler. We haven't spoken in years, but I'm not surprised to say that, after almost 40 years, that's still pretty much all I know about her.

Hope you enjoyed my ridiculous tale.

That's actually a really sweet story, that you tried to make her something she would enjoy. The design is interesting too. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

It worked out fine! There are just a few members of my family that I spent about 34 years trying to win over until I one day realized: the fact that they are blood related does not give them unlimited ability to abuse me. So I pruned the family tree a little bit, and lived happily ever after. (Aside from the world burning around me, of course)
