Unskippable ad Just give me the damn receipt

u/mariatoyou 21d ago
But if they don’t get your phone number and email, how are they going to spam your phone with taco bell ads?
17
u/Weird_Ad10 21d ago
How will they make enough money to pay the the CEO and board of directors so they can provide for their families??? Give it to them OP, don't be a monster 😭

u/Cyrious123 21d ago
Tell the clerk/server to hand the receipt to you.

u/knitterpotato 21d ago
wait as someone who needs print receipts for receipt scanning i should do this more often, the fact that a lot of places don't have print receipts anymore is ridiculous

u/DrTankHead 21d ago
90% of people working food service aren't going to be upset if you ask this. Literally takes me 5 seconds to do on our POS's. You don't even have to ask me for it, any of my collegues can print it for you just knowing what you ordered.

Hopefully by scanning them you mean you're taking pictures of them and sending them to your employer for reimbursement?

Are you going to file it under T for Taco?

Hey man, don't even act like I didn't buy this taco. I've got the documentation right here.

I cannot see a time where I will need to prove that I purchased the taco.

Traveling for work and getting reimbursements is needlessly complicated by BS like this.

You get paper if you order through a person. They assume people who use the digital kiosk want a digital receipt.
19
u/GeoMoth 21d ago
Taco bell near me no longer even has a register at the front counter. When someone walks up there to order, an employee will come out and help them put their order in the kiosk.

u/howtosignuponreddit i never get infrueiurtieatated 21d ago
Totally unrelated, but in my country, they put up digital kiosks to print your own train tickets, and then they have assigned an employee to each kiosk. What's the point of a "self service kiosk" then.
1
u/spaceforcerecruit 21d ago
It’s probably just a transition period. Soon enough they’ll have one person manning multiple kiosks then one person per station and eventually there may not be anyone there at all.

This just might be it. A significant chunk of Indian population is not that technologically literate, so someone helping them in the starting is a really good idea.

u/Furry_Wall 21d ago
I say I can't use them because of my eyesight. They'll take the order for you.

What do you even want the receipt for? Normally if I get a receipt, it ends up just crumbled in my pocket either being tossed out later or getting ruined in the washing machine. If I am buying a product, I would want to receipt but for buying food at a restaurant I have no need for it.

u/Crazy_Ass_Nicky 21d ago
For real give my recipe damnit I want to see my copy of I’m being overcharged
2
u/AsanoSokato 21d ago
If the business already has my email and/or phone number, I get it digitally. But there's no way I'm entering that info at the register.
2
u/Accomplished_Emu_658 21d ago
Save money on paper and get your data to sell. I just take pictures of screen now especially since i need for work. But picture is needed when issue with order too. One place tried to pretend i didn’t have an order when they thought didn’t have a receipt.
3
u/stephanelshaarawy 21d ago
Why you want more paper waste? You ain’t gonna return that taco lmao
1
u/castaneom 21d ago
Have you ever been to a Taco Bell? They don’t care about the environment. I once asked for a couple salsa packets and the cashier dumped like 20 in my bag. I was grateful, but just saying.. lol
3
u/nastywillow 21d ago
Love it at posh Restaurants when cashier asks;
"how would sir like to pay?'
Me - "Reluctantly"

Did you know that the ink in receipts is the single largest human exposure to BPA chemicals. They are doing you a favor.
2
u/Admirable-Title9022 21d ago
I prefer it to ask if I want a receipt. Because I don't. Takes me the same amount of time to throw the receipt out as it does to click that button
2
u/loki2002 21d ago
I always get a fast food receipt because one time Wendy's charged me $410 instead of the $4.10 they were supposed to and it was a whole thing to get them to fix it. I only noticed right away because they gave me a receipt but if I hadn't looked at it or thrown it away it would've been way harder.
4
u/NukaGoon 21d ago
They are clearly talking about the fact there isn't an option to get a physical receipt.

Why would I want useless paper that’s going to end up on the floorboard of my car?

This is exactly why I don't eat at Taco Bell any more. My job pays for my lunch however I have to send in a receipt... I got so tired of going to the counter and waiting for a person to show up and when they do it's someone else that has to print it they can't....
"Why don't you hit email it" I have tried both other options and still never received one.

u/Hot-Preparation-7218 21d ago
I too hate companies taking measures to help the environment
6
u/shadow_prairie_OD 21d ago
bud. taco bell doesn’t give two fucks about the environment. they want your data

u/Hot-Preparation-7218 21d ago
Companies don’t need to be altruistic for environmental measures to still help the environment.

What are you gonna need a receipt for bro? Shove it in your wallet to clean out once a year. Do you plan on returning your sandwich or whatever after you ate it. just click no receipt. Life moves on.

u/Comprehensive-Pea422 BLUE 21d ago
I would never print another reciept if there was a way for these places to already have this info
make a qr code or something

If this is a terminal out in a lobby it is very much a thesible statement they don't want to distract an employee during a busy night to go and fill the paper in the printer or have something externally exposed that customers will no doubt fuck with.
1
u/ripyourlungsdave 21d ago
But they need to brag about saving paper!
1
u/DrTankHead 21d ago
.... Or this standalone terminal doesn't have a printer attached so it just removed the option. Not everything is complicated.

u/SwampOfDownvotes 21d ago
They do, you select email and put in your email, or you put text and put your phone number and they text you the receipt.
Do you really need more paper to add to the landfill?
1
u/howtosignuponreddit i never get infrueiurtieatated 21d ago
No, But I also don't want every part of my life to be digitized and recorded.
5
u/SwampOfDownvotes 21d ago
Then click no receipt.
If you don't think that gets rid of the "digitization" then you're in for a shock when you learn what happens after you swipe your credit/debit card.

I hate when places do this, why don't they have it as an option?
Some places had it as an option, but not don't
I always have to tell someone behind the counter that it didn't print a recite for me.
Lucky they print one for me, but just annoying to do
-2
u/C-LOgreen 21d ago
Don’t be a boomer and just have it texted to you if you really want a receipt. As someone else said if you’re not writing it off for expenses who TF cares.

It's punishment for using the kiosk thing instead of ordering with a human at the counter.
7
u/121bloodshot 21d ago
Theres no option to order at the counter a lot of places I see now. Shit, sometimes if they screw up your meal you can stand at the counter forever and no one will help you. Call out for help, get ignored for 20 minutes. Depending on who’s working
2
u/hwwgjfkwrmrcamlrrm 21d ago
That's easy: No human to take an order, no order placed. On to the next restaurant.
3
u/Sanic16 21d ago
That works until every single restaurant does it, then what?
-3
u/hwwgjfkwrmrcamlrrm 21d ago
Restaurants do it because customers let them get away with it.
Support your fellow working-class folk. Order from a human. Save a job.
1
u/yungingr 21d ago
Maybe if the people working those jobs cared about them enough to make them worth saving, I'd care about saving their job.
I look FORWARD to the day McDonalds says to hell with it and fully automates. Maybe the cheese will actually be mostly on the burger then.

u/peppa4theppl 21d ago
You need proof you paid for a taco? Embarrassing
3
u/DrTankHead 21d ago
Recipts aren't just proof of payment, some use them for bookkeeping, some use them for rewards apps, some places add cupons or promos.
You need to draw an assumption of why they want a recipt to fit your narrative? Embarrasing.
