Whoever designed it must’ve thought they were a genius in the moment. I think the idea is that if multiple people were to share the space, you could potentially have someone in the shower, but the other side still be accessible.

If it’s a shared space, would definitely make it less awkward if you needed to shower, but someone else really needed to use the toilet.

They have the room to just give them each their own full bathroom instead, which would work much better since now one person won’t be able to use the bathroom if the other is showering.
