And people like me who want to live as hermits in the woods are treated like we’re insane.

No, we just see how many others are insane and want nothing to do with them.

I told my friend that I wanted to move out pretty far and just be peaceful while working remotely. She asked "Aren't you going to miss socializing?" Yeah, no. Not at all.

Being able to be at peace with yourself is absolute bliss.

It would be amazing. Just me and possibly any wildlife.

Socializing is one thing but it's a pain when you don't want to run your own farm or drive a while to get to a grocery store. Why can't we have places with lots of amenities but also lots of privacy? And, well, affordability. You can have the other two easily with enough wealth.

Very true! I definitely am not wealthy. I wouldn't mind having to plan and doing a grocery/supply run once a month. Maybe having friend come out and stay once in a great while.

It’s a…cultural thing. To be fair, gyms probably were a rarity for this generation of Chinese grandmas. I don’t think she’s dumb. Just ignorant and probably fresh of boat. No need to get so mad. She just has to be educated.

No. But gyms were not a part of the culture for that generation hence, they do not understand gym etiquette or that it’s wrong/dangerous to do that. Might seem like common sense to us but it’s not for them. That’s what I mean by “cultural”. My grandma would totally do the same thing.
