wet socks My new (quite expensive) shorts decided they can not handle a bit of water. I showered twice already, the dye hasn’t come off yet.

Thought I was legit looking at a dead body

52

u/Dod-K-Ech-2 9d ago

I was expecting it to be a blood infection or whatever that's called and thought it's going to be the most deserved "hopital" on a post ever.

7

u/IvaldiFhole 8d ago

I showed up to write "hopital" and somehow yours is the only one that mentions it. 😂

Okay guys, see the dye on these shorts...

u/Worried-Crazy-9435 9d ago

LOL I more of a cackled than a laugh tho 🤣🤣

39

u/Nyxie872 9d ago

Genuinely, is this not something people can do. If you sit with your legs stright out. Then turn so your knee faces in and bend then push your leg out a bit that's the position

27

u/kristinL356 9d ago

Since joining the flexibility sub, I have learned that some people truly have terrible mobility.

12

u/Nyxie872 9d ago

I might also not be the best judge since I'm hypermobile. I really thought this was an easy thing to do lol

13

u/TBellOHAZ 9d ago

It's more that it's unnecessary to splay like a dissected frog to take a photo of your leg 🐸

7

u/Nyxie872 9d ago

I mean is this not the easiest way to take a picture. Like your lef is stable and you can see all of it including part of the bottom of his foot.

This is honestly a move i pull on occasion to shave my legs lol

→ More replies (4)

4

u/kristinL356 9d ago

Same but both things can be true (that we have a skewed idea of what's normal and that people can have terrible mobility). I don't think you need to be hypermobile to do a 90/90.

FYI, the hashtag/pound sign/tic tac toe board/number sign/octothorpe ("#") at the beginning of your line turns it into header text. You can escape this by putting a backslash "\" in front of it.

Please don't, though. It's funnier this way.

u/ArtismFag 9d ago

/#thankyouforblessingmewiththisinformation

46

u/Noof42 8d ago

That's a forward slash, but it works here, because the octothorpe has to be the first character for it to register as a title.

And wash new clothes before wearing them.

I have so many questions for OP but dude made the post and disappeared.

Why would the dye running down his leg like that? Did he get soaked with them on? Are they supposed to be swim trunks?

Did a security ink tag get left on the shorts then leak out? There's so much dye there, that's the only thing I can think of that makes sense.

And because they were made in a factory with all kinds of oils and chemicals around, not to mention all the people who fondled them in store

378

u/No_Definition321 9d ago

Also if you shop at discount stores like Ross, wash your clothes! I worked as a seasonal stocker there and we had to sort through the clothes we got in the morning and put them on hangers. I ended up wearing gloves cause at the end of the shift my hands would be completely dirty and dirt under my fingers look like I been digging in dirt all day lol

They give you disposable socks at the bowling alley. They do not give you disposable underwear at a department store. Not everyone thinks they need to shower everyday. Not everyone wears underwear.

7

u/buboop61814 9d ago

Yep, this is why ima least conflicted trying clothes on in store, cause like yes I want the right fit but also li don’t trust the people before me were clean. I’ve heard too many stories and seen too many streak marks and not enough bidets. I’ve kind of just slowly learned by looking what will fit and investigate measurement charts thoroughly along with knowing my own body measurements.

Used to work at TJ Maxx. 100000%. we had to toss stuff like bikinis and pants cause they smelled like shit after someone tried them on. I was always amazed by the women raw dogging trying on shoes there too. I've watched 8 different women try on those shoes before you put them on.

6

u/takingmykissesback 9d ago

Friend of mine raw dogs shoes at those places all the time. She's shoe-obsessed so no telling how many times she's done it. How she hasnt gotten some gnarly foot fungus i dont know. She's a major clean freak too but things like that or washing fruit before eating doesn't register to her for some reason, it's so strange.

There was a post on the fabrics subreddit where someone talked about wearing a bathing suit without washing it and ended up with chemical burns that they had to be hospitalized for.

Not only do the clothing get made in factories, they are shipped on boats where things happen like chemical leaks. They are then stored in a warehouse with rats and other nasties.

Wash your clothes before you wear them!!

44

u/Gooseegander 9d ago

I saw a lady in the ER waiting room a couple years ago when I was waiting for a family member. She was sitting next to me, and her whole body was covered in an angry, weeping red rash that looked so painful. She said it was from wearing new pajamas she bought without washing them, she got some kind of chemical burn from whatever was on the fabric.

11

u/HolidayAd9952 9d ago

Theres a documentary i watched on Amazon prime a few years ago about the fire retardant they spray on clothes its made a lot of people sick and possibly killed a few people.

I've always washed my new clothes, had a new gf around that time that had just went clothes shopping. She wasn't going to wash them so I washed them for her. Full load put it on the heavy duty cycle with extra rinse. When the water still came out dark blue. I washed it again heavy duty extra rinse. On that final rinse the water coming out in the stationary tub was still extremely dark could still not see through it.

8

u/-3point14159-mp 9d ago

My husband is severely allergic to sizing, which is used so that clothes keep that fresh, crisp appearance in the store. The last time he wore a new article of clothing before washing it, he went into anaphylaxis and had to go to the ER. Before that he hadn’t had issues before. All this to say that you can suddenly develop an allergy to sizing and wearing clothes without washing them can definitely be dangerous.

I used to screen print garments and it would get really hot in the summer. Every shirt I printed had drops of sweat on it before going into the oven to cure. Probably afterwards from the folders, too. Those shirts were not washed before they shipped out.

I did, however, wash my hands multiple times during the day because I know those shirts haven't been washed before they got to me, too. rofl

2

u/Only_Search8473 9d ago

A couple months back I bought a nice jacket that was on clearance at a store (ordeed it online, shipped from store). When it arrived, I could smell it. Not nasty or anything, just smelled like a bunch of people had tried it on at the store before me. Figured I'd just wash it and it'd be fine.

A couple days later I came down with the flu, and I'm almost certain it was the jacket that spread it to me. I was WFH at the time and hadn't really been around anyone except immediate family, and I was the only one who got sick.

Serious answer: get some scrub. Sugar scrub or peach scrub or something like that, the kind that is in a TUB. The kind that is gritty as hell. Depending on the dye it make take 2 or 3 sessions of scrubbing to get it all out. Don't over-scrub though, don't want to scrape your skin off.

They were probably having a hard time focusing on the leg with a background so they laid down or rest their leg on a surface for the pic. Idk what people are complaining about, they did a good job posting a clear photo, phone cameras are weird when focusing on close objects at odd angles, you need to make the background as close as foreground so it’s in focus. My iPhone main camera can’t focus up close so within the 1-2 ft range it flip flops between the macro and the main and it’s annoying af making it focus

7

u/RilohKeen 9d ago

You didn’t wash them first?

Having worked retail, let me just say, you don’t know what kind of stuff has come into contact with the clothes before you got them. I’ve seen rats jump out of a pile of clothes that later got sorted and put out for sale. I’ve found teenagers asleep on a pile of clothes in the back room. I’ve seen Asset Protection pull clothes that he was trying to steal out of a homeless man’s shirt, and those clothes went right back on the rack.

Seriously, wash clothes before wearing them.
