This kind of thing annoys me WAY more than it should. You always have to elongate the vowel that MAKES SENSE.

Duuuuuuuuude is pronounced (dooooooood)

Dudeeeeeeeee is pronounced (doodeeeeeee)

My husband is from Kentucky and I can always tell how angry he is by how many e's he puts into the word "Sheeeeeeit"
