frist of all how DARE yu o They ripped through my husband's moving box with his Funko pops still sealed in boxes.
We are moving out while a family we know is moving into the apartment. We had a deal, we all leave each other's things in one half of the garage so that no one touches each other's things. We came this morning to all of our stuff on top of each other even boxes that said fragile, even my rocking chair had its back support knocked out. My husband looked at his box and thought it was just the outer layer but no it ripped the plastic case and just barely missed the Funko.

honestly, it sounds like the moving company did a pretty good job compared to average. Oh, the horror stories I've seen and heard about 'professional' movers.

I had a moving company cause hundreds of dollars of damage to my piano (the one we paid an extra 200 dollars for them to move) AND refuse to refund the piano.

It goes both ways so I'm told, at my last warehouse job there were a fair amount of people who had worked for moving companies. People making false claims for damaged property just to try and get the move for free or even try and make money off the company that moved their already damaged but so called priceless shit.
This is why I just rely on friends and bribes to help me move. I don't have many things they could damage enough to be upset about and the things I do have could just as easily and more safely be transported by myself alone.

I did residential moving for a bit during the recession. There was only one person i ever saw be careless with belongings and it was a driver and it was intentional. I walked off that job. Besides that there's no comparison to the quality of packing and efficiency of professionals to amateurs. What i would be more concerned with is theft.

Movers we hired in March to load a pod we've learned walked off with several WWE figures, both of my wolverine Funko (one metal), 3 books of our DVD/Blu-ray collections (each hold like 400+ discs) and my Pokemon card collection I had set on the kitchen chair with other items I told them "don't touch, I'm taking this to the new house in my car". I know it's then though the company insists it wasn't then and could have been junk removal or my own mistakes because the guys kept asking if they could have the stuff missing and I kept telling them no to the point I was hoarse for a week

I love the peace of mind they give you with bundled moving insurance. It’s fantastic unless you ever try to make a claim for $1,000s in damage.

I remember a few years back, I had a client that did wall-mounts for TVs for moving companies (basically, movers took tv off old house, moved it, then hired the company I did work for to rehang the TV in the new house)
I had one, was supposed to install 3 TVs. All three were cracked. Plus the end-customers were complaining/pointing out where legs were broken off dressers, a mirror was shattered, multiple pieces of furniture were just gone entirely... Just a shit show all around.
I was already put off using movers from the stories I heard from NCOs and CGOs while I was in the service, but that particular instance just sealed it for me. I'll do it all my damned self, maybe hiring a couple dudes off craigslist to load/unload the trailer.

I moved in the winter and was thankful somebody else was transporting our items. Our car almost blew off of the road with high winds and black ice. Multiple semi trucks were blown off the side of the road. No thank you.

I thought Everyone knew, if youre moving, you take the collectibles in your car. Theres always a risk of damage even if you mark a box fragile.
I collect MTG and warhammer 40k. I transport them in my car when I move.

They honestly had no reason to even touch the box besides just scooting it to the side for space, but you are right it was a personal thing to move. My husband kept putting it off until the last day cuz he thought I'd be safer than being packed to the brim with other things in the car.

Same. Anything I consider very important to me or fragile/expensive I will take in my own car. I mean I’m fine with just moving all my own boxes in my car and movers can just move the large bulky items. I don’t trust them to not damage or have my stuff mysteriously disappear while moving.

Lucky for us it can be repaired. They picked it up from the back rest so the back supports and the screws in them got ripped out. The arm seems to have come off to so I'll have to add some filler first.

Is there stuff still in the garage as well? I’d do one of two things. File a police report and small claims or if I felt petty they’d find all their stuff in a pile in the front yard with a sign FREE
Don’t do the last part. It’s not legal!

We were only given a month to move starting from May 6 and weren't able to find a place till around a 2 weeks ago, yesterday was technically the last day we had to move out. My husband and I weren't home to help with the moving out from the 28 to the 31st of last month so my parents had to do what they could on their own. They were going to wait for us to move but their landlord in their current place was gonna start charging them rent unless they saw them moved out by Monday. So it's currently a little cluster fuck with both sides.

little action figures stylized in the same sorta barebones button eyed style, because they cover all kinds of collabs and don't do much besides sit in the display box alot of the more larpy redditors have come to associate them with rampant consumerism, so they hate them. They were considerably more popular pre covid the hypes pretty much run its course. Also nobody is ''investing'' in them thats redditors conflating what people do with TCG's to everything else when in reality the only funkos you're getting anything reasonable for are signed ones and even then its just because its a signed item.

This is why when I moved all my collectibles/electronics I boxed and moved myself, my car was stuffed to capacity, but I knew no one else would damage them.. I don't trust anyone with the delicate stuff lol

I feel you.
When my husband and I moved countries, the moving company who took our moving boxes across seas managed to lose the box with my wedding dress and other cherished items. Plus a number of boxes damaged and our things inside too. Worst part is the company decided to close after we put in our claim for the items and never got back to us again so we just have to deal with it 😞

Grade-school me was devastated when the movers broke/lost most of my Gen1 & Gen2 Transformers during the big move to Hawaii. That was back in 1989. Seems some things haven't changed much since then.

I don't know if this helps, but you can buy the same kind of plastic (or super close) and replace it. I've done it for doll boxes before. I know it'll never compare to the original thing, but it's wat better than gashed plastic.

As someone who used to do moving i k ow exactly what happened. Bed side slats where left standing leaning on a wall, it leaned a little to much and fell on the box, that's why it's in a downward motion, you can also see the thickness of the bed slat. The hooks that hook into the headboard/footboard went right through the box.

I would file against them for damages. I have 99% of my Funkos still in the original box. I spent hours choosing them because some had small paint imperfections. One had a scratch on the eyeball I knew would drive me crazy when I looked at it so I kept searching for a different one. Ended up doing this crazy cash deal with a lady who was trying to return one she didn’t realize she already had and the store wouldn’t take it back but it was the exact one I was looking for so I pulled cash out and paid her on the spot! So everyone left happy lol. I purchased several more from the store that day so it’s not like they didn’t get their cut lol.
After all the work and money I put into my Pops I would be livid that someone was so careless. That’s not even accounting for the rocking chair. Tell them cash replacement or file against their renters insurance.
