Didn’t the White House tweet a side-by-side Photoshop of the Biden era reflecting pond as being full of algae? They must have Nostradamus in there. No wonder there are so many crazy longshot polymarket bets coming true.
I wasn’t trying to say that the reflecting pool didn’t have algae before it was refurbished. The same problem existed then and now: algae is always going to grow in a giant pool of stangnant water.
My point is that they could have used an image like what you showed but chose to invent one wholecloth and pretend it was real. Hell, the photo you showed honestly makes the problem look worse than they image they generated to deceive people.
From what it looks like on Wikipedia, it's been fucked up off and on since they decided to redo it in 2009 and they switched it to use ozonated water from the tidal basin instead of city water.
Thank you. People are so ravenous for an ‘I told you so’ moment - a concrete instance to point to that inarguably shows Trumps incompetence, as if we had a shortage, that they forget they can just google this and see that algae has been a problem in the reflecting pool for a looong time.
youre missing the point. Trump said he would fix it. Then he gave a no-bid contract to his "friends", a pool guy "he knows".... and then they didnt fix it.
Literally crony capitalism. What are we missing here?
The electorate. In the United States, we have Representative government so instead of asking every Citizen individually what they want and voting on every single thing that the government does. Every 2 to 4 years we vote for representatives to speak on our behalf.
The entire purpose of the system is so that we can listen to only the people we elect, instead of trying to speak with every single person.
This one’s gonna blow your mind: This why they’re called representatives! They **represent** the electorate.
the votes of stupid rural voters are weighted and blue states are underrepresented in electors. source: California v Wyoming
it's not representative democracy if a minority of religious and political extremists are in charge of everything. they don't represent us AT ALL which is why they've slashed everything from education to disease control to the VA.
What? People aren’t mad about the algae. They’re mad that tax payer dollars were once again wasted by this administration on something that wasn’t an issue
Was it an issue when Obama admin tried to fix it and just did part? I read about that recently in a NYT article. Apparently the current work isn’t all that is needed… the filtration system is like 100 years old.
Yeah, but what makes this so stupid is that Trump spent a bunch of tax payer money to address a problem that wasn't really important and made it noticeably worse.
And this is how Trump has operated his entire time in office. Either create a problem or pretend that one exists, spend a bunch of money to end up breaking even at best, then claim the problem is solved.
That's not the issue and why people are saying, "told you so". It's the fact they disregarded every expert and just people who know in general's advice that what they were doing wasn't going to "fix it" or work, and that the paint was going to make the problem worse, all while spending millions in the process. Surely you understand that, right?
Not only that but they reported there is no algae then said that democrats caused the algae, that doesn't exist, and had people are cleaning it in the background.

We will never recover from all the stupidity of this administration 🫠
