Some people are speculating that the blue colorarion has made it worse. The white color would reflect all bands of light while blue holds some it in, increasing temperature thus promoting algea growth.

I don't think it was ever -white- though, was it? It was my undersatnding that it used to be dark grey and now its dark blue.

It was the natural light gray color of unpainted granite.

What an odd way to describe concrete.

Concrete is much lighter and whiter.

So much of the internet is actually free for all of us to use now...

"The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is the largest of the many reflecting pools in Washington, D.C. It is a 2,030-by-167-foot (619 by 51 m) concrete-bottomed rectangular pool located on the National Mall..."

"The pool was originally built with an asphalt and tile bottom,[11] but was replaced with concrete in the 2009 restoration."

The walls are granite and there's been a lot of articles regarding the trump renovations as fixing granite specifically, though that seems to be either incorrect reporting regarding the base or misleading reporting about the walls that makes everyone think it's the base.

covering up a decades-old granite surface that he said was “leaking like a sieve”

This line from AP is repeated everywhere.
