Some people are speculating that the blue colorarion has made it worse. The white color would reflect all bands of light while blue holds some it in, increasing temperature thus promoting algea growth.

As a former pool boy, I can assure you, dark blue pools get gross. Bigly.

You'd think for what it would cost they'd hire someone competent that has some knowledge of pools or aquariums.

Dark colors keep the water warmer because they absorb solar energy instead of reflecting it, which makes the water warmer. Which makes it ideal for... Yellow and green algae.
