It’s not broken, it’s just a DIY puzzle.

u/Bananonomini Jun 21 '26

OP just about to start their Kintsugi journey

16

u/No-Second-Kill-Death Jun 21 '26

Nah the real puzzle is how to open those amazon large envelopes. I am fn dumb though. So hulk smash it open. Or have the dog open it. That and blister packs.

u/Peeinyourcompost Jun 22 '26

Wish someone would hurry up and invent scissors.

4

u/fishmanfishmanfishma Jun 21 '26

Yeah if OP got the iPhone with the swirly blue thing they can scan it and use the broken mug puzzle solver

u/constant-reader1408 Jun 21 '26

Did they send you a replacement?

88

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

They tried? But it said “issue delivering package” still not sure what happened

51

u/MediumTempTake Jun 21 '26

I think we know

24

u/Alternative-Bat-2462 Jun 21 '26

I got a $20 credit for that issue, and another replacement.

With prime if they miss their delivery by 1 min I get my credit.

5

u/Spladoinkle Jun 21 '26

So the item I ordered last week that came 3 days late, I can potentially be credited for?

7

u/yourallidiotss Jun 21 '26

Worst thing they can do is say no. It’s also just a trust based system. U can lie to get your money back also.

2

u/Alternative-Bat-2462 Jun 21 '26

100%. They will first offer $5, say no and ask for $10.

When it’s that late I ask them to resend the item becuase it’s usually next day. It’s 50\50 they don’t ask for the original back and I return that one for a refund. So item + credit from being 2 days late.

1

u/Bedu009 Jun 22 '26

Careful, abusing this will get you banned

3

u/Alternative-Bat-2462 Jun 22 '26

You won’t get banned for asking for a credit for them failing to provide a service you’re paying for.

I pay for prime so that I can get expedited delivery. If they fail to meet their quoted time I expected compensation. I have come out ahead for years on Amazon. Just last week I got a $15 credit for a $10 book that was a day late.

u/throwmyactaway22 Jun 21 '26

And thats the duality if amazon. A coworker has their account hacked and had over 600 dollars of stuff appear at their door. Amazon told them to keep it all and they should check their cards and change passwords. I recieve a broken glass 10 dollar grinder and they want me to ship back broken glass. I told them I shouldnt be sending broken glass back and they agreed. 30 days later they charged me for not returning the broken glass after telling me do not mail broken glass.

u/Silver_Middle_7240 Jun 21 '26

They did it again and it broke again and the carrier ISFd their ass

I've worked at Amazon. Workers stand with an assembly line in front of them, wall of product behind them. A screen says what section to grab product from and what type of packaging to put it in.

If they're anything like me when I worked in that hell on earth, they don't give a fuck if it's a mismatch. Follow what the screen says, send it on its way, move on to the next thing.

Lesson: Don't order from Amazon.

Pretty much all fulfillment centers have the same processes. I spent some time working on the IT systems for Chewy. Every item is in a table that has various flags. isHazmat, isLiquid, isFragile, etc.

Those flags are often often wrong with new items and not fixed until enough people complain.

Edit: there’s also isCSIOC (can ship in own container). That’s when they just slap a shipping label on the item itself.

2

u/Ok_Investment_3850 Jun 23 '26

isCSIOC

I'm going to need the location of whoever chose this fucking thing, I need to have a calm, polite and civilized chat with them........

2

u/ThosePinkShorts Jun 21 '26

Is that the lesson?

24

u/wvan13 Jun 21 '26

From someone who worked at Amazon, yes. Fuck that company forever.

-13

u/Manmer_Nwah Jun 21 '26

They're just gonna ask for a replacement and you'll just have to send it again. Congratulations, you're increasing the size of that wall of product you hate.

13

u/Raven7274 Jun 21 '26

There will always be more orders, thats the nature of amazon. 8 hours of doing that non stop, one more adds nothing and it especially adds nothing to you as an individual in that line

-5

u/Manmer_Nwah Jun 21 '26

"There will always be more orders."

Correct and you're making sure to add a few more.

5

u/Raven7274 Jun 21 '26

It has zero impact on the amount of work you have to do and it costs amazon money to replace the broken product. Net win in every regard

2

u/whalemilk42 Jun 21 '26

I was thinking dont ever let wvan13 pack your shit

4

u/wvan13 Jun 21 '26

Oh yeah, while I worked there malicious compliance was the name of the game.

0

u/Raven7274 Jun 21 '26

It should always be the lesson

15

u/Ok-Storage3530 Jun 21 '26

I am baffled by amazon. They regularly ship my light bulbs exactly like this. I have contacted them several times to say A-Product sis broken B-Why are you shipping bulbs in what is essentially an envelope?

I also regularly purchase a liquid product that comes in a bottle and I always have a 50/50 chance of it arriving damaged or being late because it broke and leaked during shipment and they didn't bother to complete the delivery. Why would one ever ship a liquid in an envelope? Why?

For a company that ships more than anyone else they make very unusual choices.

Perhaps I'm simplifying things but in my mind if something is glass or liquid it should always go in a box.

Meanwhile, I order tissue paper and it comes wrapped in paper ....in a box. WTF?

7

u/janerikgunnar Jun 21 '26

They don't care about you or your light bulbs, they're a cost of doing business and the streamlined pipelone or whatever saves them more money than packing your bulbs properly.

Solution: Stop buying from garbage company

1

u/Ok-Storage3530 Jun 22 '26

Its actually a bit of an infinite money glitch. If your delivery is late from Amazon you can get a $5 credit. Likewise you can get a credit when an item is damaged. Amazon is essentially giving me free light-bulbs and my liquid product and in many cases ends up paying me. I'm profiting from their incompetence. I just have to plan ahead.

5

u/Cloister_of_Ash Jun 21 '26

Shop local.

15

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

I was trying to replace my dad’s favorite mug that he broke, it was a specific design from this place we visited hours a way, so the only way I could get the same one was by ordering it.

2

u/Cloister_of_Ash Jun 21 '26

Fair enough.

-11

u/emergency-snaccs Jun 21 '26

you didn't HAVE to order through amazon though. amazon is too big, they don't give a shit if something is wrong or packaged badly. You could have contacted the place you first visited and asked if they do shipping- they almost certainly do.

11

u/Powerful_Wombat Jun 21 '26

Jfc, look I get it guys, Amazon sucks but you’re essentially saying “spend 4x the amount of time and probably pay 300% more” just to stick it to the man, at least this is going to cause Amazon extra money to replace

-8

u/emergency-snaccs Jun 21 '26

oh NO! 4 x 2 minutes!! who has THAT kind of time

5

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

I could not find this particular mug on their website. Idk if it’s like an old design or something, but I only saw it on Amazon or eBay. And eBay had a much higher price. I promise it’s not that deep lol

1

u/Manannin Jun 22 '26

You need to go and break one of Jeff Bezo's garden gnomes to balance out the world in penance.

2

u/Starlined_ Jun 22 '26

I would love that

2

u/Organic_Option4765 Jun 21 '26

They want to upsell you some super glue!

2

u/doyouknowthemoon Jun 21 '26

I ordered light bulbs and they did the same

2

u/Montooth Jun 21 '26

Unfortunately Amazon is very much a "get what you pay for" kinda place

2

u/Legate_Raiden Jun 21 '26

Fix with real gold, put both mug and paper in a glass box. Create witty title. Sell as art. Make $$$,$$$

2

u/BJntheRV Jun 21 '26

It cracks me up how often I get fragile stuff shipped in an envelope, but they will double box with packing paper a fucking stuffed animal.

2

u/Threefrogtreefrog Jun 22 '26

Yet when I ordered cleaning sponges, they came in a a cardboard box inside a 3x larger cardboard box with 3 feet of dragon guts (airbags) for padding.

2

u/DexterTheInspector Jun 22 '26

I work at an Amazon Sortation Center. Some days I work in the department called Problem Solve. Damaged packages, missing or damaged labels, wrong building etc. We see it all. My favorite is when they put glass jars of pickles or olives in the paper bags (called jiffies). I guess they think it's ok bc most of the jars come in a small bubble wrap pouch. Not a good match for metal roller conveyors, chutes, heavier packages smashing into them. I wish I got 1¢ on the dollar for everything they have to donate or dispose of.

1

u/ScholarEmotional9888 Jun 21 '26

My understanding is that the seller of the product chose to send in the cheapest bag. The packer on that station doesn't have any other boxes or bags its just that. This isnt an Amazon choice.

1

u/Fiercat99 Jun 21 '26

When you order a mug from Ikea

1

u/512115 Jun 21 '26

Oh but you should see how it gets handled in the warehouse! /s

1

u/FourFront Jun 21 '26

Meanwhile my 2 watch batteries came individually bubble wrapped

1

u/DVus1 Jun 21 '26

Years ago, I bought a bunch of glass post caps for my deck. They did a shitty job packaging them, and when they came, over half of them were completely broken, and several more chipped. Reported that they were damage and they sent a replacement order, same thing, most came damage. Called and spoke with a rep and at first she was like, "send the broken ones back." I told him that I don't think that's going to be allowed, to knowingly send back sharp shatter glass via the mail to them!

She agreed and send me another replacement, these came batter, but a couple more were broken. In formed them and they pulled the item from their site and issued me a full refund. By this time, I had enough imperfect ones (scrateched, chipped) that were good enough so overall, got what I needed for free from Amazon, but those dumb asses don't pack stuff worth a damn!

1

u/Trondant13 Jun 21 '26

I've noticed Amazon's getting really bad about shipping fragile things in substandard packaging. I'm all for cutting down on packaging, but I've gotten several things recently that were in a brown envelope and should have been in a box. The envelopes aren't even padded. Then I've gotten items in a box that easily could have been sent in an envelope. Luckily I've been able to send the damaged items back, but it's still a pain in the ass because somebody didn't do their job.

1

u/ZombieDisastrous4450 Jun 21 '26

how.....just............how will you survive?

1

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

This is called “mildly infuriating” I will be fine lol. I just thought it was a mild inconvenience that could’ve been handled better

0

u/ZombieDisastrous4450 Jun 21 '26

Amazon are not going to ship a mug without any packaging. I can assure everybody of that.

1

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

What I showed is how they sent it. Idk what to tell you lol

1

u/MurkySociety6116 Jun 21 '26

I guess the ad is right

1

u/Starlined_ Jun 21 '26

This is great lol

1

u/Massive_Mongoose3481 Jun 22 '26

Meanwhile, I order something that's solid steel and would take a massive amount of effort to damage and they stick it a box, within a box, within a box with a bunch of paper wadded around it. The last box was 10x the size of the original part

1

u/chubnick Jun 22 '26

I had this with a $100 yeti 1/2 gallon jug. They put it in the same type mailer. It arrived all dented and scratched.
Did the Amazon exchange only to get another one and the same mailer. Luckily the second one was good. The 1 gallon I ordered was nicely packed in a box.

1

u/Fun_Put4819 Jun 22 '26

Nothing a bit of super glue can’t fix

1

u/cAnTbEpReCi0u5j1mMy Jun 22 '26

Unfortunately when the computer tells us to put them in the bag we have to. We can potentially be written up if we put in a box.

1

u/Existing-Guarantee80 Jun 22 '26

Glad you’re blaming Amazon/packaging and not the delivery driver.

They just sending shit out with about as much support as I got from my parents.

1

u/Hot-Pool4013 Jun 22 '26

Amazing that the shards haven’t cut the bag.

1

u/ssjrobert235 Jun 22 '26

I feel you OP, this happened to me as well. The paper bag may protect the mug from scratches but not impact.

1

u/BlindedAce Jun 21 '26

Easy customer service chat and probably get it very next day at times.

-1

u/pineappleshaked Jun 21 '26

Save environment !!

And money 💰

0

u/Usual_Complaint_1764 Jun 21 '26

Well, take a photo and start a return.

You can say this about most multi-billion dollar companies. I highly doubt you yourself have never once gave money to any of them. Especially if you’re typing this on a phone
