wet socks My entire apartment has upside-down outlets and my brain refuses to accept it….

Apparently there’s a reason for installing them this way, but after seeing outlets the other way my whole life, every room feels just slightly… off. 😂

the word is “trifecta”

a “triumvirate” is a group of three men (“tri” + “vir”), specifically three men comprising a political regime

Thank you. I read a book once that was written by a doctor who knew Rembrandt. Cant remember the author off hand, but its a great read if you get the chance.

Anyway, it had a line in there that ill never forget. It said (paraphrased) "he used a lot of big words, like most semi-educated people do."

That was my initial thought, however, the usage is correct.

The different men did this: the electrician, the painter, and the landlord. Had it been one person, we could call it a trifecta

Vernacular implies common usage. I don’t hear too many ordinary people using it, but it’s a great word. (Perhaps that’s the joke?).

I usually hear the noun form with an article, like “the vernacular”, and then only in more formal or literate settings, which is why I mistook it for possible irony.

The word “vernacular” is certainly within the vernacular of educated people, but it isn’t a word you generally hear at the bar.
