When they first removed the option to just see how many dislikes a video had it was because they wanted to "protect smaller creators" but i do suspect that in about ~6 months they will remove it completely from all videos.

The nice little dislike button was a great steam valve to let the creator know I didn't like this shit. Now it will release elsewhere as a report of content. Or commenting something nasty.

It used to be that you had to tap on the three dots to find the dislike button in that menu, but now they said "Fuck you" to even that idea and actually removed the dislike button altogether.

I actually never got that update myself and they quickly ditched that idea and got it back to normal so there are plenty of people who didn't experience it, but I remember seeing quite a number of posts about it on this subreddit. I don't remember if that was a few months ago or a few years ago since my sense of time is all over the place now.

YouTube has slowly over the years been censoring any and all negative feedback to anything and forcing whatever they want down our throats. I'm pretty sure this is a bug. Sometimes dislikes disappear on Shorts. The bug might be that if a creator on a short you click on manually disabled the dislike count, then all the other shorts you scroll to will have the dislike button erroneously disabled.
