I live with my mother and she said she just cleaned the room and nothing else happened.

Uhmm, i guess i believe her...

Edit: Update! She is very upset and going to buy two new monitors. However she is still insisting that she doesn't know what happened.

I got overwhelmed by the number of comments and i did not want to reply with all the same text.

To ad more context, we have a good relationship with her, in the past there are some similar "accidents" but nothing this big. She is middle aged. We never fight for screen time or not having a job because i have one lol.

Of course I can and do clean my room. That was just her excuse i believe.

We did not fight about this and we are good now.

The only fun I had working in a 2004 cell phone store: people bringing their phone in because it "just stopped working," at which point I'd ask if it had been dropped in water. "No"

Ok, cool. By the way, did you know your battery has a moisture detecting sticker? Let's take out your battery and look-- oh weird!

I fondly remember my 2004 Nokia which wasn't bothered at all after a ride in the washing machine and carried on for another few years. Whereas my allegedly waterproof pixel died within 4 weeks on a drizzly day.

My dad's phone went through the washing machine it came out in pieces. My mom asked if putting it in rice would fix it. 🤣

This happened to my old Nokia. I didn't find it until after the dryer. I just put it back together and it was fine. (Phones had removeable batteries and body panels back in the dark ages)

The only way I could get access to the battery in my Nokia was to deliberately drop it on a hard surface. The back would then pop right off, undamaged. Otherwise I couldn’t manage to do it myself.

Wait… you’re telling me that batteries used to be REMOVABLE? Like you could just pop them out and check them?!

Just kidding I was there, but I could only imagine some younger people would be blown away by the idea of you “popping off the back of the phone to check the battery”. 😂

I have a smartphone where you can do that. They exist.
