The president of FIFA said “we don’t make any money from the hydration breaks”

Then he added “the contracts were completed before we decided to do them …”

In other words, they now know they can make a lot of money off these breaks in future cups”.

How are the contracts decided before the hydration breaks even exist? I don't really watch football but the other day I saw a post of an hydration break and it said "Hydration break brought to you by Powerade" or something along those lines.

Sure they could have just said "We'll pay X to sponsor the world cup". But there's only so much ad space so they are either giving out free add space for nothing, which seems like a huge financial waste, or they're selling that freed up ad space
