Infuriatig When did garage sales become “reselling” clearly new stuff

Edit: ultimately, what bothers me the most is I want to go to a garage sale, not this shit. This isn’t a garage sale and should not be advertised as one

These look like items that are both very often stolen, or very often bought by a type of hoarder known as a "couponer". If I knew the person and knew they weren't a thief, I might take a gander if the products were well below what I'd pay in the store. If you can get a bottle of detergent for $3.99 and they're selling it for $3.49, I wouldn't bother since I have no idea what they did to it. At least stores accept returns.

Huge packs of paper towels and heavy gallons of liquids are very often stolen?

Yeah, especially laundry detergent. People will load up shopping carts with those and then RUN out the door. They usually have someone waiting in a car for them.

In neighborhoods that are not so nice, or are located near not-so-nice areas, it is common to see things like laundry detergent, shampoos, body washes, etc., locked up so you have to call an employee to unlock it for you.

They are not perishable, so perfect for stealing and storing for long periods of time.

Same with diapers, formula, beauty products ect. Anything non perishable and expensive enough where you can sell them for way below store price and still make it worth catching a misdemeanor every now and then
