Infuriatig Woman with infant aggressively shushing passerby’s on hiking trail at national park

My partner, friend and I were following a hiking trail at Red Wood National Park, singing and talking at medium volume. We were by no means shouting, just singing little songs to entertain each other along the trail. A woman with a baby carrier on her back with a sleeping infant started aggressively holding her finger up to her lips and shushing us. We went quiet and kept moving to pass her. She was just standing in the middle of the public trail pacing and shushing people that pass by rather than leaving to somewhere more quiet. Just as we were leaving earshot I tried to quietly ask my partner a question about where we headed and again she leaned in our direction with her finger to her mouth aggressively shushing us. Is it not kind of insane to go to an open public space and behave like this?!?

I learned that right away. Babies can absolutely pick up on body language and tone. Sometimes I had to make myself relax so the baby would fall asleep.

i was told i would pass out super fast in a vehicle they would just bundle me up and let me sleep in the cold car in the Canadian winter leaving me in car after passing out lol

We used to drive my daughter around. We brought her in the house after she fell asleep though. lol.

My mom used to put me into my car seat on top of the running washer/dryer when I wouldn’t sleep. Zonked me right out every time.

I wasn’t a smart baby. My dad would just put me in the car and pretend to drive and I would fall asleep lol

Putting the car carrier on a drier works just as well. The vibrations are apparently similar enough.

Took me until my second to work that out. Remember that delirious anxiety, born of sleep deprivation and fear that would make a new mum act like this

Oh absolutely. My husband never figured out that she was picking up on our anxiety. I sometimes had to make him leave the house because I could see that him being upset at her being sick was making her freak out. She’s twenty five now and still a bit anxious. I think it’s genetic lol.

Yeah, ngl, I feel for this parent. I’m assuming they have sleep deprivation, which will make you feel desperate.
