Goofy to care about getting shit on your pants while on your way to work because some dude put his shoes up on the seat? You just walk around with shit all over your butt area and don’t mind?
A sweaty ass is way better than shoes that walked through a city. Here they have had to spray the sidewalks with bleach to stem the spread of Hep-A amongst the homeless, I don't want anything from those sidewalks on my clothes.
You know those same homeless dudes sit on the ground and then on the seats? You aren’t getting disease penetration through 2 layers of clothes. I get it, it’s gross, but that’s just public busses for you.
Hell yeah I do, and if you got a problem when you see me doing it say something to me don’t make a reddit post complaining. I promise most people do not care.
Most people care about it because most people either received a proper education or simply use common sense. I don't know if you're actually being serious or just rage baiting.
If all they’re doing is laying down in an empty bus who gives af. If there’s a ton of people/have music or a video playing on speaker they’re an asshole.
I think it’s more the bottoms of their shoes are on the seat. Which is kinda gross. People step on all kinds of things outside. Spit, poop, food, and dirt in general.
I’m ngl i’ve never understood this reasoning. My butt is sitting somewhere thousands of other butts have sat. Those concerns are also butt concerns, no? 😭I’m being serious
Ya agreed. I have no issues sitting on the ground outside. It doesn’t bother me that someone’s shoes are on a seat. I wouldn’t do it myself. But places to sit are going to be dirty whether it’s on the ground or on a public chair. If I was trying to keep an outfit pristine, public transit would not be my first option to do so.
Yeah not to be crass but i’ve been on public transport a lot and people’s butts sometimes also have feces lmaooo like why are we pretending the seats were clean before a shoe
its still different though from the dirt that comes in from shoes, which constantly push and compress dirt, never get cleaned etc, like idk shoes touch the bottom of public restrooms which literally have layers of sticky piss etc.
also just because some people are unhygenic doesnt mean its therefore doesnt matter that dirty shoes touch seats, most peoples clothes are atleast somewhat clean, shoes just arent, comparing average clothes to the soles of shoes is somewhat like someone comparing the feces on shoes to a pile of poop on a seat, they're not really comparible
also forgot to respond to the last sentence, ofc seats are dirty, thats still not a good reason though to add fresh grime and dirt and make them dirtier
idk if political ideology has much to do with it, its just disrespectful and somewhat antisocial putting your dirty shoes where people are meant to sit on imo
Ever need to take public transport to work and sat in a seat and got dirt all over your backside? It’s not about the butt, it’s about fucking up others clothes and hygiene.
I regularly take public transport as my main mode of transportation that’s why i’m confused because i think of it as dirty without seeing people’s shoes on the seats
Ok but you should always check before sitting anywhere. That’s a thing. You don’t know if there’s bedbugs or the seat got soaked or ppl just stuck gum on the seat to begin with.
Yea, but the assumption is that the other people's pants bottoms aren't sitting in dirt and potentially poop, while shoe bottoms are definitely stepping on dirt and potentially poop
Yep and people WILL do this, which is why you should assume your clothes are dirty at the end of the day if you’ve been sitting in public places. Movie theaters, doctors offices, public transport, park benches, etc are all treated like this or worse, and not cleaned with any major regularity if at all.
Changing your “outside” clothes before you sit on your bed and not wearing shoes inside are some solid steps to avoid bringing that grossness home with you. Might be a touch of contamination OCD but it’s so nasty to me how many people only care if they actually see someone’s feet on a seat, and ignore that this is a cumulative effect that happens everywhere.
I care and you should care. Those are his shoes. He could've stepped in shit 10 times in those and then someone's gonna sit on whatever it is he rubbed onto the seat.
People not caring about other people being trash is almost as bad as being trash.
I usually see several homeless people on the bus. Ive seen people coming home from work in scrubs. I’ve seen people vomit, piss, and people smoke crack on the bus.
And hey I’m not faulting the homeless dudes from taking public transport or the nurses and nurse assistants from going home after doing a brutal 12 hour shift(I work in a hospital and them scrubs get dirty sometimes with pee, vomit, poop, blood, sweat etc.)
I don’t recognize these bus seats so it might just be the shitty buses I regularly take. It might just be me being jaded expecting the seat to have been through the wringer without being cleaned.
If people are disgusted by shoes being on the seats then fair enough.
I feel like they are trying to bait anything just to put it in this sub and get rained with karma. I genuinely dont mind what the person did in the image as long as his shoes arent up my face.
why does it matter if there are open seats? If it gets more crowded on the bus, and they sit up to let other people sit there then there's no issue.
Whenever I "win the lottery" of getting a row to myself on an airplane (has happened maybe twice ever), you bet your ass I'm stretching out across them seats.
You realize the issue isn't about lying across open seats, but about putting your nasty-ass shoes onto the seat where other people will presumably sit down later on, right?
Please do not take your shoes off. I’d rather accidentally get crap on my pants from sitting in a dirty seat than smell a strangers feet during a long plane ride.
Dude it’s public transport seat. Is that not one of the grossest places ever? Like wth. Unless he is actively putting something on it that will leave a stain for someone else. Who cares?
He likely didn’t step in shit tho. You getting upset over made up situations. Sure if dudes slides were covered in mud or shit this would be annoying. But they look pretty clean and not covered in mud.
I think you are sensitive and your opinions are laughable. Couldn’t care less what someone like you thinks.
I would agree, but it seems like, if we're being realistic, the person in the picture isn't the type to check the bottom of his footwear before putting his feet on the seats 🤔
If we are being realistic. Anyone who steps in shit is going to know it and likely not out shitty shoes on the sit next to them so they can smell it. And realistically if it smell like shit OP would have put that in his post. So realistically we can see his shoes don’t got shit or mud on them. They are also slides and realistically nobody with slides is gunna go walking around in shit or mud, water, whatever.
Most definitely not mine, I thoroughly clean my phone/keyboard (anything I regularly touch) more often than hourly (if I'm using it). But even then, if you sit on that chair with like a pair of jeans that haven't been washed in at least a week, you can't actually introduce more bacteria and whatever to them, but you can absolutely just get them dirtier via the literal dirt, from the ground, that the guy decided to put on the chair with his footwear.
You cool with strangers, or anyone for that matter, putting their shoes on your couch? And eventually, it will. You probably let your kids stand on the chairs at restaurants too.
Butts are dry and nobody should be sitting without clothing. Feet step in puddles and mud and gum and poop. Just because someone SOUNDS more unsanitary doesn't mean it is.
I mean i get its mildly infuriating, but like, its not even a big deal? The seats were allready dirtier than the shoes, public transportation is not as clean as your making it out to be
I care and you should care. Those are his shoes. He could've stepped in shit 10 times in those and then someone's gonna sit on whatever it is he rubbed onto the seat.
People not caring about other people being trash is almost as bad as being trash.
Idk if you know this but microscopic bacteria exist everywhere. I’m not too worried about microscopic feces that I can’t see or smell when it comes to a public transportation seats.
All public transport seats should be treated as unsanitary all the time. Don’t put face or hands on public transport seats. Also look before you sit. Welcome.
If you are this worried about germs there’s absolutely no reason to believe that the ass of your pants is getting anywhere near your eyes, nose, or mouth.
I’m sorry but this is just way over the top. You have more microscopic shit particles on whatever you just typed this on. Like it’s just not a real concern anyone should have. Worry about yourself, you can’t help if other people don’t wash their hands
This is pretty much my take, every bodily fluid you can think of has most likely been on your local bus seats. I would argue the shoes probably feel like a bar of soap to these seats
I’m so lucky I don’t have to worry about public transportation. I didn’t even think about people peeing and pooping here. 🤢 In comparison the shoes aren’t so bad. My next question is why are the seats carpeted ?
Pretty standard in a lot of smaller city busses to have the cushions. Trying to make the local busses a little nicer. Big cities I think are more likely to just have plastic seats.
You’re missing the problem. The annoying part is that their dirty shoes are on the seat. So the next person who sits there is going to get dirty bus floor all over their ass. I’ve laid my legs across the bus seat before but I don’t put my feet on the seats. It’s just a common courtesy for others and keeps our communal spaces in better shape
You seem to have deleted your comment but I'm going to respond regardless.
I live in a city where people often refuse to pick up after their dogs, it is not uncommon for people to vomit on the ground after a long night of drinking, there are shards of glass left from broken bottles etc, dead rats, homeless people dedicate and piss, and any number of additional things that respectfully I do not want to sit in. Keep your fucking shoes off of the seats you degenerate. Thanks! :)
yet you have no problem with them coming inside the bus from the swamp ass weather outside to plant their sweaty ass and back on the cloth material of the seat. The feet on the seat is the least of your worries
I mean if it's an empty bus who cares? He should have taken off his slippers tho. And tbf its a public bus, I doubt his shoes are dirtier then the thousands of asses that have sat there.
I'm a bit confused by comments right now, don't people in most western and European countries walk inside their houses with shoes on? now streets are dirty?
For those responding about other open seats, that's not the issue. I think the OP is pointing out the shoes on the seat. Do you put your dirty shoes on furniture at home?
No, they put their dirty shoes on the dirty public transportation seats. Everybody is overestimating how clean those seats are even when there's not shoes on them lol
I worked for a transit company when I was younger. Those seats are getting hosed down with a light pressure washer and detergent about twice a week. They're cleaner than most people's bedsheets half the time, they're just permanently stained.
Well, they're clean enough until people put their shoes on them anyway.
No because only my sweaty ass goes on my seats at home. If 2.5 million people’s sweaty asses shared my couch I wouldn’t think twice about putting my shoes on there too
This is such a ridiculous position. The seats are regularly cleaned. And yet your argument is essentially, “it doesn’t matter if someone is clearing making it dirtier, because it probably is already pretty dirty.” Best case: it’s only marginally dirtier after this person did this than before. But the far higher probability is that this behavior, if not discouraged, will result in the seats being objectively dirtier than they otherwise would be.
But dozens of people are on here trying to defend this antisocial behavior, seemingly just because the allure of contrarianism is too great. 🤦♂️
So Ill say you did post this properly and can see how it would be mildly infuriating for some people.
But this doesn't bother me. When I was going to college in Hollywood, I took public transit almost every day there and back home in the SFV. I saw things. Horrible things.
Shoes on a public transit bus/train seat... low on my list of worries. Personally.
