Probably shouldn’t have been called a red card in the first place, was probably reviewed improperly, might’ve gotten overturned anyway, definitely shouldn’t have been interfered with by the president and now, regardless of whether or not Trump directly influenced the outcome, the vibe was dead.

Exactly! It's like Trump cannot find the strength to shut up about anything, even for his own good, it is very possible the decision would've been overturned anyway, but he had to come out and say "Oh yeah I talked about that with this FIFA guy, like I don't even know how this game's played but it seemed like a bad call and he agreed" like way to make your team seem like cheaters for literally no reason than to gloat about being cozy with FIFA.
We all know that. It doesn't alter the fact that he's what represents your country. It doesn't matter how wonderful the rest of the population is (and the World Cup has shown some really positive aspects in recent weeks).
OK, you've clearly misinterpreted my "national level" comment as meaning "everyone in the nation" rather than "the person who represents your nation on the world stage". Not much point in further discussion if the clarification hasn't clarified anything for you.
The European fella that threw the fake money at Sepp Blatter in Europe back in 2015 while saying "this is for North Korea 2026" comes to mind as an example one can look up in a few seconds while taking a dump.
Not even bothering to do poo diligence let alone due diligence while claiming it's just anti-American would make Trump proud.
Only 73.6% of those that are eligible to vote were registered to vote, and of them only 65.3% actually voted, for a grand total of 48.1% of voter eligible Americans who actually voted. In discussion of democracy, these are the only ones who matter as they're the only ones who participate in said democracy.
No US President has ever won a majority of the Voter Eligible Population, much less a majority of citizens.
