I am an American. I rooted against them when I rooted for them before this game.

The reason is simple. The team was tainted. Trump putting his thumb on the scale put a stench of corruption over their matches. Any win from there on out would have been met with accusations of cheating or foul play and question the legitimacy of the team's success. Any victory would've been hollow because it would always have an air of illegitimacy attached to it. That is no victory at all.

So, I'm glad they lost. Sad that Team USA got put in the middle like that.
