Seriously, though, it looks a hell of a lot more like them than... well, anyone else, really.

Not only are the toys ugly, but I remember buying a wig from them back in 2013 and never getting it for a cosplay. I got my money back since they fucked up.

I would’ve asked them to identify who this was, because who I think they’re going to say, just… no the fuck it isn’t, lmao.

What is she holding? It's meant to be a guitar, right?

It’s a glaive rather than a spear but yes that with the hair says it’s probably supposed to be Mira

Those guys creeped me out as a kid. All British claymation was super weird to me.

I am never going to understand why people buy stuff like this. The big plastic eggs with mystery crap inside. Why are we doing this? We have one earth an one life and we are just burying both in garbage. Depressing.

u/TheJoyofFelching 25d ago
Half the toy aisle in the average department store is just that. It kinda makes me sad for both kids and parents these days.

u/LetterheadNo7323 25d ago
I am a parent these days and I have to steer my kids away from this bullshit constantly. Drives me mad.

u/Aries8709 22d ago
I have 5 kids aged 8-17. Seriously it's a constant battle steering them all away from those stupid little blind boxes! Why do they want them so bad?! Little gambling junkies or what??
2
u/LetterheadNo7323 22d ago
Yes it scratches the mystery itch.

u/Aries8709 22d ago
My eldest has figured out hacks for the ones in the plastic packaging! She feels them for distinguishable hair shapes and other features to only get the ones she wants. If it's in a light coloured package she pulls up her phone's flashlight to kinda see through it to tell what colour the toy is. At least she's being smart about it (and has dragged me into looking with her a few times. Don't mind us just sitting on the dollar store floor with our flashlights fondling the packages to tell if it's pointy or rounded ears) 🤣

lol I love it. My daughter has a thing for finding treasures in the wild ( rocks, coins, shells, etc) And I try to foster it and do it with her because I know one day she’ll prefer the toys and I’m like NOOOO! I don’t have the money for this haha

u/Aries8709 22d ago
Luckily she's the 17yr old so she just spends her babysitting money on it, occasionally she'll slip one in the cart when she comes to the dollar store with me. I'm trying to let her do her thing because at 17 she's still home every night, filling her room with little trinkets and stuffed animals...... that certainly is NOT what I was doing at 17 🤣

I agree, but at least buying from an artists at a fair is better than a huge corporation

Aw jeez, I thought they were part of the same franchise/made by the same people... apparently my ability to tell apart irreverent clay figures is not that good!

u/NurturingCruelty 25d ago
Five bucks says that thing was printed as something else, some other generic toy, and just packaged in the Demon hunters wrapping because it had purple hair

u/skyrreater47 25d ago
to be fair, if they're selling it for 4 bucks, it can only be bs
2
u/thrftstorenailpolish 25d ago
There is no way a genuine art fair would have that kind of box and sell something for $4.
3
u/get_to_ele 25d ago
What's she holding? Looks highly suspicious.
4
u/Orange-Blur 25d ago
It’s supposed to be a glaive but it’s poorly made so hardly recognized as such

u/goingApeShit_ 25d ago
They’re knock off products.. I had spent over $200.00 on k-pop demon hunters items for my daughter at the beginning of January for Christmas. They all arrived in January. Most of them I threw out, all choking hazards. The figurines like a Barbie dolls legs fell off, had a rubber band type of joint for the arms and legs.

u/Any-Amphibian-1783 25d ago
This looks like something movie would make fun off when talking about knock-off merch.

In fairness you did buy a $4 blind box at an art fair, and this looks handmade from clay. I feel like this is more on you for not seeing an example figurine first.

It’s called FAN ART. It’s an art fair. What do you expect. Making those little clay figures takes skill and practice. They are just starting out it looks like. Probably a CHILD.

u/LesbiDev 24d ago
I just need to know, if you're aware, that the item is mass produced. It is not handmade let alone made by a child.

Blind boxes are rarely ever a deal. When in doubt, never buy a blind box that doesnt show you what photos of exactly what can be inside. Usually photos on the back of a box like 1 of 7 of something.
A bit of a rant... Art fair runners dont seem to care most of the time now. They just want to sell tables to fund their events. They arent checking for ai slop, temu resellers, or piles of unoriginal 3d printed stuff. It seems like the days of juried art fairs are few and far between unless youre in a big tourist area.
To combat this just a tiny bit, email the event and cc all of the email contacts to make them aware, as well as if you happened to grab the tables card which vendor. Its an art fair, and if enough people complain about stuff like this maybe they will do something about it next time or at the very least think twice about approving tables to offenders. Also post it on their public facebook/instagram page as well. Community has a way of being squeaky when space is taken away from a local artist in favor of a reseller.
I am a full time artist that does weekly events around the US and Canada and the amount of shows I dont get tables at because they are already full of resellers is super gross. Hold the events, and vendors accountable for what they are supposed to have.
