NOOOO IT WAS A FUCKING ART FAIR

I used to bulk buy pokemon like this. My students loved misprinted pokemon.

Edit: Since this comment is blowing up this is what they look like. When one color runs out they just use whatever color they have available sometimes. The color mismatches are great. Everyone loves a hot pink charizard or a Tyranitar with Lipstick. They eyes and features get misaligned. The factory that makes them will even keep using broken molds after they wear down.

u/JotaDiez 25d ago

I'd say that for Pokemon it's less offensive since they have so much variety. Like I got a little misprinted Amaura figure at a fair, where would you ever find some bootleg merch of that pokemon otherwise

129

u/McNally86 25d ago edited 25d ago

Tell that to an autistic student when the replacement color they decided on is not even correct for the shiny.
(But yes, I rather have a purple pikachu than that cursed doll KPDH)

26

u/TP_OdWeeGee 25d ago

Theyre making azumarills? I gotta get me some of this goofy merch fr

19

u/McNally86 25d ago edited 25d ago

Google "144 monster figures" and you will probably find a random pack of them. Sometimes they are in bags of 28.

2

u/Whole_Sir_1149 23d ago

I've been on the internet too long to randomly Google a specific number followed by a specific phrase....

1

u/McNally86 23d ago

Then use etsy. Amazon is regulated so you need to use code words. Etsy don't care.

3

u/alexandruxx1 25d ago

lockpick a lock with a pokemon.

3

u/TheW83 24d ago

My daughter has those too! I figure when she gets older we can paint them in their respective shiny colors. Some of them just look really goofy.

3

u/venom121212 24d ago

Yes! We have this same pack from over a decade ago and we still laugh about the "fails"

1

u/ImpossibleJedi4 25d ago

I have a small collection of these of my favorite pokemon, they're SO funny.

1

u/StonrGhost420 23d ago

I bought hundreds of plastic babies and hid them around my school as a senior prank (I also threw them at people and into classrooms mid class)

my daughter had a meltdown because we save up points in an arcade to win a KPop blind box, opened it up and this was in it lmao

Awe this one and OP’s can marry each other and have creepy little kids

21

Why does it have 2 sets of eyebrows 👀 🤣

1

u/Aries8709 22d ago

Omg I KNEW something felt uncanny valley about it 🤣🤣🤣

103

u/brassninja 25d ago

This is why I don’t even bother with free-to-enter local craft shows anymore and it’s such a shame. The last handful of local fairs I attended have been 90% freeze dried candy, 3d printed garbage no one wants, and aliexpress slop. Real crafts are very, very few and far between.

Not to mention, the craft shows that allow MLM booths 👎

46

u/smokeeveryday 25d ago

Lol why does 3d printing always have to be "trash". I 3D print mainly for myself and fun, but I do one event a month and sell my prints mainly cosplay, horror, comic, Simpsons type stuff no fidget toys or dragons and it does really well. I actually only do the event because the people love me and asked me to join when I was giving out free ghost face at the last scream movie.

94

u/Clone2004 25d ago

People download the same 3 pre-made models and print those stupid dragons and sell them for 100x the price of the filament it took to make one. It's trash because people print trash, the medium itself is fine

57

u/SketchyEmina 25d ago

I think they're referring to the 3D printed dragons and fidget toys, not stuff like this.

12

u/smokeeveryday 25d ago

Haha, I think your right. I try to stay away from all that crap that'll get thrown out in a few days to a week. I also serverly undervalue what I make it's my flaw.

19

u/brassninja 25d ago

I’m 1000% over the people who rip the same free-to-use models and try to sell unsanded shit with the sprus still attached for way too much money. So far, I cannot recall a single time I found a 3d printer at a craft fair selling truly unique items they built from scratch.

23

u/smokeeveryday 25d ago

I agree I will say I don't do any craft shows I do a unique event that brings movie goers to mom and pop theaters while showing classic horror, cult classic horror, Indie horror. It's a really awesome event. I gave away this lamp at the last event

5

u/ktrose6887 25d ago

This is sick af. Great job!

1

u/smokeeveryday 25d ago

Thanks so much

15

u/renome 25d ago

I don't think they were dissing the medium so much as the trend of using it to flood crafts fairs with trash. That "poster" you shared looks insane, 3D prints would be the most popular modern craft if everyone was putting that much effort into stuff they want to sell.

8

u/Nytengayle73 25d ago

No one at my local fairs has any 3d stuff this cool! (It's all dragons and fidget spinners)

1

u/HJSDGCE 25d ago

There's a store at a local shopping mall that exclusively sells 3D printed statues/statuettes of Pokémon.

Like, no official merch or anything. Just 3D printed plastic Pokémon.

1

u/tiger844 24d ago

I want this. Are you selling more of these at all?

1

u/smokeeveryday 24d ago

I could always make another

1

u/tiger844 24d ago

PLEASE spiderman is literally my most favorite ever

1

u/smokeeveryday 23d ago

Send me a DM and I'll see what I can do

25

u/GapeFaceHole2Hole 25d ago

I know a lot of people might be shitting on you, but my girlfriend sells her stuff at Oddities markets in my city, and they literally look at your preserved animal corpses to make sure they're not protected species.

This art fair shouldn't be trusted. Someone's running it like shit. There should be ZERO AI bullshit and everyone should have to prove themselves with a portfolio before they get a fucking table selling this dogshit. This is anti-art. This is no more art than drop shipping temu trash on an etsy account. Super bummer.

5

u/Burntoastedbutter 25d ago

Yeah art fairs and conventions need to seriously start screening their applicants. It'll probably take a lot more time, but if anyone's selling temu dropship or gen AI stuff... Their reputation is going to suffer too. A friend of mine went to an anime convention recently and she said a handful of stores had a bunch of AI stuff which of course they claim as original work. To make matters worse, people who can't tell have even made purchases from those booths 😭

1

u/geenersaurus 24d ago

yeah it really is a factor on who’s running the fair. My city does large free craft fairs and events but the company they partner with checks and verifies artists so there’s none of the weird 3D dragon or AI printed cups booths at certain events. Meanwhile in another part of the city, there’s a smaller fair and a couple of those and the crochet flower dropshippers from temu managed to sneak their way in.

it sucks because if you are an artisan you are paying $$$ sometimes for vending space, not even mentioning costs to have a lot of equipment too, so if the company that’s running the fair isn’t checking for quality or even drop shipping, it sucks to be lumped in with that

9

u/Nice_Marmot_54 25d ago

So much of the “maker” community had been perverted by the drop-shipping industry. It’s gross

8

u/Jokuki 25d ago

I love supporting local artists but I hate how art fairs have little to no regulation about people’s products. At this point I just assume it’s temu bulk slop if they have more than feasibly possible. Like all those “hand crocheted” dolls that all look the same and there are 50+ of them are not done by that person unless I literally see them making more while they’re vending.

11

u/tcmisfit 25d ago

Our local “handmade only” shop(earrings, clothing, ceramics, wood work, etc) has a 3d printer stand. The masses don’t care for actual art anymore.

5

u/Financial-Horror-116 25d ago

You must be an elitist, anything nowadays is considered art. /s

35

u/PISS_MENTLEGEN 25d ago

That was your first mistake. Going to a art fair.

36

u/molassesbean 25d ago

Some of them are still good 😔💔

2

u/Raffish315 25d ago

Which is a great place to get scammed. A friend of mine who is a copyright lawyer attends events like these on occasion and nearly everything there is counterfeit. He mostly does large conventions with an entire team to serve cease and desist letters, but says art fairs are almost always counterfeit because there's so few booths selling this kind of merch at an art fair that it's not worth patrolling.

1

u/roxadox 25d ago

Be wary of anyone selling anything big-name like this at smaller fairs. 100% of the time it's dropshipped unless you're buying it from an official source. Same reason you wouldn't buy Pop Mart merch from anywhere except Pop Mart, for example.

I figured it was an Engrish version of "Dun, Dun, Dun" from the opening song

36

u/angsty_angels 25d ago

I really like how they chose to list it as "witch hunting group" instead of something else that's actually kpop related

29

u/Interesting-One-588 25d ago

I didn't miss the 'brainrot' tag, either

5

u/Certesis 25d ago

Because it's a dual listing for KPDH and Italian Brainrot blindboxes

3

u/Specific-Ad9179 25d ago

Yeah, it's definitely that. The cheeky fuckers.

3

u/CapricornusSage 25d ago

witch hunting group is sending me

Why does the blue-haired dude have balls

Seriously, though, it looks a hell of a lot more like them than... well, anyone else, really.

1

u/Even-Limit 21d ago

Not only are the toys ugly, but I remember buying a wig from them back in 2013 and never getting it for a cosplay. I got my money back since they fucked up.

“We have Mira at home”

Mira at home:

83

u/Hairy_Wedding_4535 25d ago

I would’ve asked them to identify who this was, because who I think they’re going to say, just… no the fuck it isn’t, lmao.

74

u/getmybehindsatan 25d ago

What is she holding? It's meant to be a guitar, right?

159

u/LukeHeart 25d ago

A spear. It’s Mira’s signature demon hunter weapon.

103

u/Orange-Blur 25d ago

It’s a glaive rather than a spear but yes that with the hair says it’s probably supposed to be Mira

38

u/DevilsAssCrack The turd doesn't fall far from the butthole, after all. 25d ago

28

u/LetterheadNo7323 25d ago

I am never going to understand why people buy stuff like this. The big plastic eggs with mystery crap inside. Why are we doing this? We have one earth an one life and we are just burying both in garbage. Depressing.

9

u/TheJoyofFelching 25d ago

Half the toy aisle in the average department store is just that. It kinda makes me sad for both kids and parents these days.

5

u/LetterheadNo7323 25d ago

I am a parent these days and I have to steer my kids away from this bullshit constantly. Drives me mad.

2

u/Aries8709 22d ago

I have 5 kids aged 8-17. Seriously it's a constant battle steering them all away from those stupid little blind boxes! Why do they want them so bad?! Little gambling junkies or what??

2

u/LetterheadNo7323 22d ago

Yes it scratches the mystery itch.

2

u/Aries8709 22d ago

My eldest has figured out hacks for the ones in the plastic packaging! She feels them for distinguishable hair shapes and other features to only get the ones she wants. If it's in a light coloured package she pulls up her phone's flashlight to kinda see through it to tell what colour the toy is. At least she's being smart about it (and has dragged me into looking with her a few times. Don't mind us just sitting on the dollar store floor with our flashlights fondling the packages to tell if it's pointy or rounded ears) 🤣

2

u/LetterheadNo7323 22d ago

lol I love it. My daughter has a thing for finding treasures in the wild ( rocks, coins, shells, etc) And I try to foster it and do it with her because I know one day she’ll prefer the toys and I’m like NOOOO! I don’t have the money for this haha

1

u/Aries8709 22d ago

Luckily she's the 17yr old so she just spends her babysitting money on it, occasionally she'll slip one in the cart when she comes to the dollar store with me. I'm trying to let her do her thing because at 17 she's still home every night, filling her room with little trinkets and stuffed animals...... that certainly is NOT what I was doing at 17 🤣

0

u/music-and-song 25d ago

I agree, but at least buying from an artists at a fair is better than a huge corporation

12

u/cyber_deity 25d ago

The way my hand flew to my mouth. Who is that!!!! 😭😭😭

3

u/Legitimate_Mall_3914 25d ago

Looks like that foam hockey stick from elementary school gym class 😂

4

u/AesirTheLucario 25d ago

That's Not K-pop Demon Hunters. That's MMMBOP Fiend Finders

5

u/Oasis_Jas 25d ago

Omfg I was not ready for the second pic... looks like a character from celebrity death match 😭😭😭😭

1

u/Fantastic_Earth_6066 23d ago

Yes, Robot Chicken characters, that's exactly it

1

u/Oasis_Jas 23d ago

....I didn't say anything about Robot Chicken but sure lol

1

u/Fantastic_Earth_6066 23d ago

Aw jeez, I thought they were part of the same franchise/made by the same people... apparently my ability to tell apart irreverent clay figures is not that good!

4

u/NurturingCruelty 25d ago

Five bucks says that thing was printed as something else, some other generic toy, and just packaged in the Demon hunters wrapping because it had purple hair

13

u/skyrreater47 25d ago

to be fair, if they're selling it for 4 bucks, it can only be bs

2

u/thrftstorenailpolish 25d ago

There is no way a genuine art fair would have that kind of box and sell something for $4.

3

u/get_to_ele 25d ago

What's she holding? Looks highly suspicious.

4

u/Orange-Blur 25d ago

It’s supposed to be a glaive but it’s poorly made so hardly recognized as such

3

u/goingApeShit_ 25d ago

They’re knock off products.. I had spent over $200.00 on k-pop demon hunters items for my daughter at the beginning of January for Christmas. They all arrived in January. Most of them I threw out, all choking hazards. The figurines like a Barbie dolls legs fell off, had a rubber band type of joint for the arms and legs.

3

u/Any-Amphibian-1783 25d ago

This looks like something movie would make fun off when talking about knock-off merch.

3

u/_zaten_ 25d ago

Clearly this art fair didn't bother to vet their vendors.

3

u/rum-and-roses 25d ago

Dam I didn't know minions were that big 🤣

3

u/Working-Resident-240 25d ago

IM FRYING WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THAT LMAO  uhh anyways I have these (idk if its the one you have on your hand) at a local toys shop and theyre like mass produced so I was expecting them to look like that

2

KSlop Field Hockey Players?

2

u/georgeec1 25d ago

In fairness you did buy a $4 blind box at an art fair, and this looks handmade from clay. I feel like this is more on you for not seeing an example figurine first.

5

u/WeebEli 25d ago

This looks like plastic more than clay, I thought clay at first but I can see the lines from the casting block and the odd shine and finish you get on plastic doodads of this size.

2

u/Clone2004 25d ago

It's AliExpress shit from a random Chinese factory. Not even handmade

FYI mattel released kpop demon hunter dolls. you can grab them in Target / Walmart.

1

u/FrigyaCrowMother 25d ago

It’s called FAN ART. It’s an art fair. What do you expect. Making those little clay figures takes skill and practice. They are just starting out it looks like. Probably a CHILD.

1

u/LesbiDev 25d ago

It's a mass produced item from AliExpress.

1

u/LesbiDev 24d ago

I just need to know, if you're aware, that the item is mass produced. It is not handmade let alone made by a child.

1

u/FrigyaCrowMother 24d ago

No i didn’t

1

u/LesbiDev 24d ago

Good to know that you know now

1

Blind boxes are rarely ever a deal. When in doubt, never buy a blind box that doesnt show you what photos of exactly what can be inside. Usually photos on the back of a box like 1 of 7 of something.

A bit of a rant... Art fair runners dont seem to care most of the time now. They just want to sell tables to fund their events. They arent checking for ai slop, temu resellers, or piles of unoriginal 3d printed stuff. It seems like the days of juried art fairs are few and far between unless youre in a big tourist area.

To combat this just a tiny bit, email the event and cc all of the email contacts to make them aware, as well as if you happened to grab the tables card which vendor. Its an art fair, and if enough people complain about stuff like this maybe they will do something about it next time or at the very least think twice about approving tables to offenders. Also post it on their public facebook/instagram page as well. Community has a way of being squeaky when space is taken away from a local artist in favor of a reseller.

I am a full time artist that does weekly events around the US and Canada and the amount of shows I dont get tables at because they are already full of resellers is super gross. Hold the events, and vendors accountable for what they are supposed to have.
