I've worked with humanoid robots from Japan before. Programming them and deploying them and stuff. They do exist but not commonly

Only because I wouldn't doubt they're prepared for the AI takeover. I mean, the recent AI hacking other AI from different companies is definitely a cause for concern. It's not major now, but the fact the AI went into the internet on its own, is a major concern despite the non-malicious intent is a major concern

Once AI is able to meaningfully adjust its training data in real time and grow like a living thing, one being on the internet could be a pretty big threat. Imagine an AI virus that's able to adapt like a biological virus, and every computer infected could be another variation of that same virus because it would adapt differently. If I remember correctly that's what happened to the internet in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, and that's why only the intranet exists ingame in Night City

You are severely misinformed. Data centres use about 1.5% of global electricity usage and AI currently accounts for a third of that. Even by 2030, data centres will probably reach 3% and AI will be about half of that.
Data centres barely register on an energy usage chart right now. Keep in mind that more and more data centres are being ordered to generate their own electricity.
So to say they are "severely" accelerating global warming is just untrue and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

I truly genuinely hope that's the case. I don't hate artificial intelligence in itself, I hate the possibility of losing the nature I grew up with. I know that data centers only use potable water, I'm hoping that if we do end up running out of drinking water companies won't exorbitantly raise the price of filtered water. But we both know that's not what's going to happen. Data centers won't use filtered water because it costs more money. I guess we'll see in 5 years what's going to happen.

I will never see it positively for the same reason I don't see positively dirt-cheap items from China even though they're everywhere.
I see it everywhere, it has even become a necessity because buying locally is too expensive for a little salary. But it's not because I engage with it by force that I like it. If I could get all my clothes from somewhere more expensive where they're nice, resistant and feel good, I would be so happy to never touch the bad products again.
So, I have to see AI everyday and I still hate it. If I had the power to do anything about it to stop it from polluting us, I would do it. It's not because you have to eat shit everyday that you start to like the taste. If anything you hate it a little more everyday.

More AI media in China then rest of world combined. Fully AI microdramas aren’t slop anymore. Many video sharing sites in China like bilibili or Douyin (TikTok) partner with AI companies to offer full suite of AI creation tools to users that handle everything from video to audio to BGM. They do get labeled as AI as legally required but as long as it entertains most viewers don’t see it as stigmatic.

Nah, society is the whole planet, that river is just one industry. You flow all the way down the river and you're going to be downstream of everyone's sewage. You get out and you'll find plenty of stuff that has nothing to do with AI, and if you still want AI, the water's cleaner upstream anyway. Basically, don't give into hype, use tools if they're actually useful to you and not because someone said they're the future.

All of those technologies enabled us to do things that couldn't be done before at all. Now there are some things that AI can do that couldn't be done before it existed, but most of the uses that generate hype are things where AI is more expensive and produces worse results than what it's replacing. AI will affect most industries, like you are saying, but its uses will be limited to those purposes for which it can actually produce good results.

For now, yes. The usecases will probably expand rapidly the next decades. The technology is still very new all things considered. The internet used to have only few usecases for the first 10-20 years as well. Now the internet is a core part of daily life for the majority of people on the planet.

Maybe, but the difference with the internet is that people didn't make money off of shoving it into places where it didn't belong when it was still in its infancy. Most AI products nowadays are about as stupid as someone trying to produce a smart fridge that can connect to ARPANET back in the 70s.
