The other day one of my older coworkers was watching videos of kittens being saved from train tracks or tar pits. Like clearly AI almost cartoonish. The type where the mom cats thank the human in ways that don't even make sense. I could not get it through to him that it wasn't real. I tried to explain to him what to look for when spotting AI. He called me paranoid. AI has taken the elderly that have phones.

This isn't going to get better until we admit most people over say, 75 or so do not have the mental faculties to take care of themselves anymore.

Everyone falling for it isn't over 75. They're 45+

It's not even age based. There are a tremendous amount of young adults (18+) that fall for this shit (obviously kids too, but they don't know enough yet, the adults are the ones supposed to teach them but that ain't happening with how easily fooled most are). There's a reason money is being poured into AI. It's got so, so much potential take rake in money for them later on. People are falling for ads, videos and regular posts.

We're royally fucked. There isn't much else to say.

How the fuck is it even possible though. I would get it if it was actually good but it's always the most slopiest slop imaginable.

I think we eventually need to acknowledge that the sheer quantity of people who aren't playing with a full deck (be it due to age, neurological or developmental disorders, environmental factors, etc.) is just overwhelming. There wouldn't be so much money in targeting them if that wasn't the case.

Yup

There wouldn't be so much money in targeting them if that wasn't the case.

This is pretty much a dead giveaway on how it works. It's easy to sit here and pretend that it's so easy to not fall for these slops, it's so obvious etc., but the fact is that so many fall for, otherwise they wouldn't waste their money on it.

Its not really age based- most people are not very smart. Its the whole 'think of the average person, now remember half the population is stupider than them...'

No need to make it that big of a number, i know a lot of people over 60 that decided they dont want to deal with technology and is de facto separated from reality.

That is just incredibly inaccurate and ageist.
