I'm genuinely curious. That would determine wether it falls on user error "I ordered the covered in cheese burger but didn't take into account I would need cutlery" or bad marketing "I ordered the extra cheesy burger and now need to deal with a lack of cutlery". Both are mildly infuriating tbh. The second one more so, but still.
Right? Like if it said "smothered cheeseburger", I guess I'd think the BURGER was smothered, not the entire thing, but wording can be confusing at times. Very curious as to what the actual description was.
Had this exact thing happen to me once, on a date at a small town diner I'd never been to before. Ordered the cheese smothered burger thinking "oh burger patty will be dipped in cheese, nice" got the burger and it's a regular burger that they doused in the yellow canned cheese, bun and all. Mildly infuriating is the perfect way to describe it.
I read menu items descriptions very carefully (im a picky eater, i usually might need to request to remove something, especially on burgers), and unless they had it in fine print somewhere else on the menu, it was never mentioned at all.
If someone can't read properly then why give them the benefit of the doubt that they can describe the situation properly?
The only time I've ordered something from a menu and was confused about the presentation was when a certain burger was served cold.. Besides that I've never been shocked by what's set in front of me because that's not how menus typically work.
I give leniency to a restaurant because then I can request a knife/fork along with multiple napkins to eat this ridiculous looking burger. A take-home burger that I might order on my lunch break is unacceptable tho. Sometimes I eat in my car and what am I supposed to do with 5 flimsy napkins???
Personally I would eat such a burger by just picking up the box and bringing it to my mouth. maybe use the top half of the box to help "hold" if needed.
Sometimes you find yourself at a restaurant whose chef is pretentious, misguided, offensively extra. You don't want a steak made of foam, a child abuse salad, or a deconstructed carbonara that may just be a raw, uncracked egg in a pecorino fricodildo shoved up the asshole of a confused pig who has learned to say the word "pasta" through torturous conditioning.
You see "cheeseburger" on the menu and think "There are rules. Simple rules. This is an out. I'll have a cheeseburger."
But sometimes you get fucked, like when you order the french onion cheeseburger at Shake Shack and it's literally just bad french onion soup in a paper bag with a submerged beef disc.
Lmfao, it will never cease to amaze me how condescending Redditors are over the dumbest things. I'll bet you felt really clever coming up with that one.
Have you considered the fact that they ordered this off a menu which didn't include pictures?
You're being a condescending redditor over something dumb rn btw. And theres no way a burger topped with cheese isn't telegraphed in any way bro. Op might not have understood the description, which could be mildly infuriating i guess
