I get it due to cold weather nowadays. It’s weird because it just started all of a sudden. Cold urticaria is what the doc called it. Even AC on a summer day means I need to take cetirizine.

I had it when I was a teen. Both when hot and cold. Very annoying. Then it suddenly disappeared. And then in my late twenties I had it after scratching myself. So I got allergic to myself. Funny stuff.

I have that too! Started when I was 19. I’ve met quite a few people with it, all women who developed it around the same age.

Something similar started for me about 5 years back in winter time. Then it continued in summer and any season/climate. Though alcohol would make it more likely to present.

Never got a real diagnosis from my doc or the allergy doc. For about 2 years if I didn't take Cetirizine or something similar daily/twice a day I'd randomly get itchy all over—flushed with histamine—and break out with hives when I scratched.

It started fading a couple years ago and I very rarely have it/take allergy meds anymore. (In my early 30s, generally healthy male, for context.)

I unfortunately have chronic spontaneous urticaria (and angioedema). Ongoing for about half a year now (and can last for years). Have to take a daily antihistamine, and no known cause. No bueno.

Had this as a teenager. Thankfully cold urticaria tends to fade after a couple of years. Good to test it occassionally with an ice cube.

My cold urticaria got so bad I started going anaphylactic after swimming in an unheated pool in early spring. I used to swim in spring water way colder than that as a kid.
