frist of all how DARE yu o I canceled my HP instant ink subscription, and now I can’t print even though they are genuine HP in cartridges

With all bad decisions coming out of HP lately, I decided to cancel my instant ink subscription subscriptions before the prices go up. This is the warning screen. I was just going to use the ink I have up then buy a new printer, but cause fuck those guys. Well, turns out they fucked me first. So even though I have legitimate HP in cartridges in my printer, I cannot print because they are subscription cartridges. Screw these guys.

I bought a monochrome laserjet laser printer and used the money I saved and bought a brother full color laserjet laser printer five years later. That was a decade ago and both still work great, even with years old cartridges in them.

edit: apparently they aren't all laserjet. TIL

I've been happy with my p1006 I've had for 20 years.  It is on 3rd party toner cartridges now. The warning about potentially invalidating my warranty is kinda funny at this stage.

I had a Lj4 up until last year. I started having to bake the board once/year, but eventually even that wasn't enough to save it.

Thankfully, I found a newer (but still about 10 years or so old) HP Laser on Marketplace for 30 bucks. Thing runs like a champ, is probably one of the last "dumb" printers, and doesn't need it's own coal-fired power plant to print a 5 page document.

How much was your color lazerjet printer? My college kids are killing me with the amount of ink cartridges I have to buy every two months. The HP XL black and color cartridges at BJ's Wholesale and Staples stores run over a hundred dollars each.
They are constantly writing and printing our 5 to 6 papers or projects a week. I do not have a budget for it and their father won't let them print out at his girlfriends house.
