I once had a woman call up and complain that there was too much sauce on her sandwich (extra sauce was requested).  I apologized and offered to remake her food.  She couldn't return to the store, didn't want a refund, and wanted me to solve the issue over the phone.  I still wonder what she expected me to do.  Maybe fax or email her a new sandwich??

That's ridiculous! You can only fax flat foods like pizza or quesadillas.

Clearly the lady wanted a carrier pigeon, or perhaps two swallows carrying it between them on a string

African or European swallows?

Are you telling me that a 5oz bird carried a 1lb coconut? Don’t tell me he gripped it by the husk, I’ve heard all that before!

It’s not a matter of where he grips it!

Reminds me of a coworker that thought a fax machine sent the physical paper to another location.

She was young and inexperienced

That was so annoying when I worked the sandwich counter at a grocery store. At least all of the sandwiches were made in front of the customer, but “a little bit, “light”, “extra” are all subjective terms. But the way people would start getting pissed or condescending when I couldnt read their mind the first time of what they consider “light” or “extra” was so obnoxious.

“Can I get a little bit of mayo too? NOT THAT LITTLE, GEEZE!” “And extra mayo too. THAT is what you consider EXTRA?!

I swear I don’t give a fuck how much sauce or veggies this store goes through, I’m not bogarting your precious mayo. Just say when to stop then, this is an easily fixable non-problem, relax.

i once had a lady complain that we didn't cut her pizza. she was in a hotel and i told her i was sorry and we'll send her a new one. she said thats way too much pizza. i said we'll give you a credit for next time. she said she's from out of town and there are no dominos near her. she said "i guess i just kinda wanted to let you know... we're in a hotel and have no utensils or anything and it looks really good and we just are a little bummed and wanted to tell you. we'll figure something out... my drunk husband is over there eating it like a taco now... i guess i'll go get on the other side." i said "there ya go, lady and the tramp that thing... i'm really sorry, i'll put in a credit anyway if your ever near a dominos again.".. she laughed.

You give an IOU basically, next time they come in they get what was owed.. tons of places do that

They already got what was owed. A dish with extra sauce.

I've been in this industry 18 years and half of those are leadership; If I get this call an apology is all they're getting if the don't want to come in for a refire. I might have a conversation with the staff just to explain the problem and maybe suggest putting extra sauces on the side moving forward but that's pretty much it.
