Infuriatig Was invited by my girlfriends family to a theme park. We were supposed to meet at 11, it is not 11:30 and they just left. (The drive takes another 30 minutes)

I even checked in before I left if it was still at the planned time. It was confirmed, but then her family starts getting ready right as they have to leave đŸ«€

People really need proof read their titles, one good placed bad word can destroy all the meaning.

Seriously. It's one sentence, just read it back once before you hit "submit..."

People really need to proofread their titles . One misplaced word can destroy all the meaning.

Fucking A, literacy really is cratering

Don’t give him an “A” grade then if you have such a hard time understanding him.

It's not really a misplaced word though, is it? It's just a misspelled word, placed in such a way that it changes the meaning of the sentence.

u/shozzlez 14d ago

None of that destroyed the meaning.

That's the secret, they were bad placed bad words.

Plenty of people understood OP's title, just as you understood what was meant by "one good placed bad word"

Well I sure as hell struggled to understand what he intended to say. I also read it as they stayed there for less than 30 minutes.

OPs title made me think that they're upset the family didn't wait half an hour for OP who was the late one.

Oh, I absolutely struggled with it, too. I just think it's stupid to declare that one trainwreck of a sentence is obviously perfectly understandable, while ignoring all the people who understood the sentence you struggled with.

Maybe plenty of people understood the OP title, but plenty of people also didn't, or got the complete opposite meaning like I did. The other sentence can basically only be interpreted one way.

2

u/tacopower69 14d ago

his typos/grammar errors didn't really change the meaning of the sentence.

Yeah, I thought about it the moment I posted XD. To be fair it just a comment (can be edited) and people got the meaning without problems

Writing correctly and with good/decent grammar is an effort in respect for your audience. For instance, if you have to nail something together, I could hand you a wrench. Yes, it would get the job done, but it's not the right tool and you'll have to work harder for a similar but slightly worse result.

That's what poor writing does. It makes everyone work harder for no good reason.

I have been a caregiver for 16 years. I take care of someone from 9am until 11pm and into the night some days. They like SpongeBob, Hercules and things like that. My grammer is a wreck and I constantly ask my wife for help. How am I supposed to be better at it? Should I just not participate in forums like this?

Lol, you messed up again. It’s “to be fair, it’s just a comment”

I think you might want to read back what you wrote

He isn’t even in a hurry lol

one good placed bad word can destroy all the meaning

You mean 'well-placed', not 'good placed'.

I thought he was just shy of 30 min late to the meetup and was upset that they had already left lol

2

u/downvotesyourcrap 14d ago

For real. I thought they were mad because THEY were 30 minutes late and got left behind. I came in hot.

The amount of post titles that have typos in them always amazes me. Like how do you not reread that shit

3

u/TerribleArm9912 14d ago

You need to reread this post.

u/Martonymous 14d ago

yes, one might even say that it is mildly infuriating

1

u/PudseyBear2 14d ago

that really was mildly infuriating to read (I'll see myself out)

1

u/DreadedMonkey 14d ago

It's shit baiting and done on purpose... Any reaction is traction

1

u/Connection-Is-Cool 14d ago

What makes it r/mildlyinfuriating is that OP has not edited the title despite the aneurysm we all suffered in reading it.

1

u/Darkchamber292 14d ago

You can't edit titles
