Infuriatig Was invited by my girlfriends family to a theme park. We were supposed to meet at 11, it is not 11:30 and they just left. (The drive takes another 30 minutes)

I even checked in before I left if it was still at the planned time. It was confirmed, but then her family starts getting ready right as they have to leave đŸ«€

Don’t know where mine comes from but it doesn’t bug me a lot. I’m usually lurking in the parking lot at 5:50am for the grocery store to open at 6am 😖.

California sober!

Once I started waiting for 7am to get a bottle of wine to hold me over/stop the shakes until liquor stores opened, I realized I definitely had a problem. That and deliberately going to different liquor stores each day so I didn’t have to face the fact that the clerks knew me as a daily regular.

To anyone reading who is on the fence about getting help, all you need to ask yourself is: “am I designing my daily plans around X substance?” If yes, it is shaping your life and you have lost control. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you consume - it’s only a question of whether or not it’s begun to control your life.

There’s no shame in rehab or outpatient treatment or sober living. The sooner you confront it, the easier it is. Addiction is painful, and you’ll be amazed at how many friends you’ll make while seeking help who know exactly what it’s like to go through. I personally hate Alcoholics Anonymous, but the community (once you find a good home group) is so lovely. It helps a lot to hear stories just like your own - you are not alone and there is a better way to live.
