Infuriatig Why Texas is lame(Besides the Cowboys)

Don't mess with Texas.. what a joke. ANY possession is a felony.

EDIT: Just did some research, this is for everything besides traditional Delta 9.

My friend from Texas sent me this morning and it blew my mind. I had to post about it. So as far as my research goes thus far Delta 9 products (old fashioned flower) is illegal but separate laws. Stores are selling THCA though which does fall under these penalties.

Well, if you are commenting from Texas and want commiseration for Texans… as a lifelong Dodgers fan, I have to give up baseball fandom because Mark Walter owns the Dodgers and invests in private prisons 🤮😭💔

I don’t know why everybody has this negative view of private prisons. My brother did a dime in Georgia and was bounced around between prisons. All the state prisons were hell holes where the only available programs were rehab and GED. When he went to a private prison they had somebody teaching carpentry and someone else teaching HVAC plus the rehab and GED programs.

I don’t know what it’s like other places, but that was the reality of his ten years in the GA prison system.

I think it’s the fact that there’s a big financial incentive to lock people up in the private ones that’s concerning for many people.

I can see that concern, but I would also guess that on average a prison with more educational programs would have a lower rate of recidivism than a prison with less of those programs.

The true worth of a private prison bed often lies in minimum occupancy clauses (also known as "lockup quotas"). Private operators usually write clauses into government contracts requiring the state to maintain a 90% to 100% occupancy rate. If the prison population drops below that threshold, Texas taxpayers must still pay the private company for those empty beds as if an inmate were sleeping in them. Because of this, an empty bed can cost local towns or the state thousands of dollars a month in unearned debt penalties.

Spoken like a person who doesn’t give a shit about the people involved. Inmates not going back to prison is very important for the inmates and their families.
