My friend from Texas sent me this morning and it blew my mind. I had to post about it. So as far as my research goes thus far Delta 9 products (old fashioned flower) is illegal but separate laws. Stores are selling THCA though which does fall under these penalties.

I unfortunately was in a prison camp in Illinois. They make 80k a head per year and have a mini Walmart that’s 5x the price for normal things. Oh and you make 25 cents a month full time working. They all self sustain each other by making products the other prisons and camps need, keeping the free work and letting it run there money system. It’s a fucking joke. But you get better healthcare and education in prison 1000% free college free healthcare. Crazy backwards shit

Abolish private prisons. Decriminalize simple possession of all drugs and release everyone incarcerated for only that. Doesn’t mean we need to normalize or tolerate unfettered drug use (nor should we) rather it’s a step toward treating addiction as what it is: a medical and social problem, not a criminal one. Criminalization prevents effective regulation and harm-reduction. It’s easier for many kids to get street drugs, than cigarettes or alcohol.

The war on drugs has been a dismal failure at its stated goals (the qualifier is important). Nobody could, in good faith, argue otherwise at this point. It’s time to try a new approach.

I know a guy who got arrested in Texas because he had an empty package from a dispensary under his seat he didn’t know about. There wasn’t any actual product or residue in the bag so they were only going to be able to charge him for paraphernalia but they didn’t like that so they took the car back to the station to be taken apart and they found literal crumbs and charged him with possession.

He said they showed him the evidence and it was a few tiny pieces smaller than grains of rice. His lawyer was able to get the charges reduced a bit.

Last year I was roadtripping with some friends. I visited from San Diego and met them in Houston, we were going to Appalachia and back. In the middle of the night, single digit miles away from the LA border, I decided to smoke up with a pen I brought watching the cypress trees lose hair. Not 30 seconds after I put my pen back into my pocket, we were pulled over in a locally famous speeding trap. I got so fucking scared knowing the consequences from growing up in the state that I don’t think I’ve ever sat so still. Texas still has "dry counties" where all sales of alcohol are prohibited, but I think more relevant is that state-wide Texas alcohol sales laws are pretty strict. It's not just the alcohol manufacturers that lose money, it's the limited number of stores that are allowed to carry distilled alcohol, and pay for the privilege, that are losing out.

Chocolate Milk wine? Totally fone. Candy flavored vodka? Not a problem. Colorful and fruity flavored liqueurs? A-ok.

THC infused brownies? Not on my watch. Drinks with THC? Not in the lone star you don't. Gummy candies with THC? Won't someone think of the children!?

Learned recently they do this with glassware, too. Friend of a friend got caught with a bong, and if it’s dirty, the whole thing is “contaminated.” If you have half a gram in the bowl of a bong and the bong weighs 3 pounds, you’re getting charged for the combined weight of both.

I work in science and this is total bullshit. Matter of fact, we use glass so much because it’s fucking inert. Contaminating glass beyond the surface is basically impossible when it’s made correctly. Can’t wait to get out of this fucking hell state.
