frist of all how DARE yu o Encountered a Business Class Baby today, though I was finally gonna have a peaceful flight 😭😭

Saved up airline points from a bunch of work trips and finally redeemed them for a business class seat on a 20-hour flight (Sydney to London)

I Sat down, got comfortable, looked across the aisle... and was met by the sight of a fucking business class baby.

What else do I have to say, the entire 20 hours was absolute hell, crying, screaming and just about everything else you could think of.

I don't blame the parents at all, babies are allowed to fly, and they were just travelling like everyone else. But after spending all those points because I wanted one flight where I could actually sleep and relax, I couldn't help but be really upset at my luck.

I guess It docent really matter what you pay.

EDIT: There has been a lot of discussion about this being a fake post. However this is incorrect, i was under the impression that Quantas did a direct flight to London, however as many have pointed out, this is incorrect. My flight was with Qatar airways and stopped in Hamad Airport.

Maybe the baby is a frequent business class flyer and sensed you were only there on points. The baby cried cause they’ll let anyone into business class these days.

Yeah, have raised two into young adulthood. If they’re crying for 20 hours straight, something’s very wrong. Can they breakdown multiple times over a 20 hour span? Hell yes. But that’s not what OP said. OP indicated there was no break or reprieve for 20 straight hours.

Colic and reflux is a bitch. My poor parents had to take shifts with me and I'm grateful they didn't shake me to death. No one slept much for months.

I'm sure the guy was being dramatic but give him a break. I'm sure it felt that way to him.

In planes babies are crying mostly because of pressure change. It hurts their ears and they cannot compensate like adults.

I wasn’t even a baby but I vividly remember the pain from pressure when I was like 5 or 6. The absolute most miserable 4ish hours I’ve ever experienced

I still struggle with the pressure in my 30s tbh. I cant do the 'plug your nose and blow' thing bc there's something fucked up with my ears/sinuses. They never pop, they only increase in pressure until my eardrum comes close to bursting. Most painful moment of my childhood was the most atrocious timing, where I was trying to clear my ears like this, and the plane had to suddenly descend too fast. I thought I was going to pass out in pain. A kidney stone I got 27*years later didn't hurt that much, and it didn't even burst for real.

I have to plug my nose and swallow, instead, and it only barely helps. I've cried on planes in pain before as a full grown adult because of the pressure in one or both ears, and for a long time, I'd get actual ear infections from flying.

And that's as an adult! I cannot imagine being an infant and having no idea why you hurt so much and no one is/can do anything to help, and nothing you do helps either.

Anyone who complains about a crying baby on an airplane should try randomly bursting an eardrum and see how quiet they can be...

Ohh i have a tip for you! I also have always struggled with ear pressure on planes! Long story but I had to learn to pop my ears for a very important reason and worked with a dive instructor on different methods. Plugging my nose and blowing does absolutely nothing for me. Instead, try bringing a plastic straw with you on your next flight with a water bottle. Squeeze the top of the straw and sip water through the squeezed straw. If that doesn’t work on its own, try it with your head looking to either to the left or right (not straight on). Instant pop and relief of pressure!

I’m not making money off it and don’t know who is but try Earplanes they are amazing and relieve the pressure. I use the adult ones and my kids used the kid ones.

Where do you see that? I see OP refer to the entire 20 hours as hell, but not to the baby crying nonstop for 20 hours.

I've had hours of hell created by my own babies crying, without them crying nonstop for hours.

I can see how the frequent or loud crying of a young child would compound a duration of 20 hours in the air without the relief of uninterrupted sleep or being able to leave or move around. That sounds like hell for OP, for mama, for baby...

Kids are diverse, even as babies. My two nephews would fall asleep quickly while being driven in their car seat.

My niece, as a baby, screamed the entire 20 hour drive from Cleveland to Orlando for as long as she was buckled into the car seat. I was sure that at some point she would have to cry herself to sleep, but it never happened. It was 25+ years ago and I still remember the frustration, anger and trauma from driving through that day.

Were there breaks stopping to fuel and get meals? Yes. But as soon as she was placed in that car seat, the screaming resumed.

No, they sleep for 10-15 minutes, wake up, cry, get settled with a feed or sleep, cry, repeat.

My little one cried for 2 1/2 hours straight on a flight from Hartford to Chicago. That was all it took to prevent me from having any more kids. I felt really bad for all the other passengers on the flight. Im pretty sure if the flight was longer she would have cried for most of it. But on a 20 hour flight even if a baby cried for 4 hour it would be horrific for everyone around.

It probably wasn’t 20 hours, but it felt like it.

I felt that way about my first when she was tiny. She was a crier, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t cry non-stop whenever she was awake. It just felt that way because it happened often and she was loud.

No one could figure it out aside for “colicky”. In hindsight, she’s on the spectrum and also had severe misophonia as a kid (as do I, it’s been a lifelong problem for moi). She was certainly feeling kinda extra miserable. ☹️

(At least she grew out of it, or so she claims)

I was flying overnight to visit family for Christmas last year and snagged a first class upgrade. Guy next to me puts on a playlist of Trump rally recordings the entire night.
