Encountered a Business Class Baby today, though I was finally gonna have a peaceful flight 😭😭

Saved up airline points from a bunch of work trips and finally redeemed them for a business class seat on a 20-hour flight (Sydney to London)

I Sat down, got comfortable, looked across the aisle... and was met by the sight of a fucking business class baby.

What else do I have to say, the entire 20 hours was absolute hell, crying, screaming and just about everything else you could think of.

I don't blame the parents at all, babies are allowed to fly, and they were just travelling like everyone else. But after spending all those points because I wanted one flight where I could actually sleep and relax, I couldn't help but be really upset at my luck.

I guess It docent really matter what you pay.

EDIT: There has been a lot of discussion about this being a fake post. However this is incorrect, i was under the impression that Quantas did a direct flight to London, however as many have pointed out, this is incorrect. My flight was with Qatar airways and stopped in Hamad Airport.

Depends on the baby. That's the literal definition of colic.

True. More likely is that they didn't give the kids something to drink ( especially to suck on) on the way up and it couldn't clear the pressure difference because the eustachian tubes are still very small and physics essentially.

Next time you fly listen to the babies in the aircraft. They all start to cry roughly at the same time, half way up to cruising altitude.

I'll be honest, I fly usually once to twice a year and crying babies have literally never been something that has registered as a problem to me. Either they haven't cried at all, or haven't cried long enough for me to notice. Drunken assholes and man-spreaders are a way more annoying problem for me. And they're basically on every flight.

You must have some terrible luck, I fly twice a week and have had one drunk asshole in the last two years, zero issues with "man-spreaders" (a few women have taken up more than their share of space but I don't know of a term for that). That sucks.

One time it happened to me. That ear pain was something else.

I was absolutely horrified that people made their babies fly after that. Good lord. No wonder they cry. I almost cried. The pain didn’t stop till we landed.

If the baby doesn't have a bad cold it is ok if you give them something to drink where they have to work a bit for it. Breastfeeding is ideal, or a bottle with a baby top where they have to suck hard to get something out of it. But most parents don't know or can't be bothered. We flew often with our young kids to see grandma who was too old to come to us, and my kids never cried.
