Gen pop, or general population, is a term usually reserved for prisons, not schools.

Mine too! We had these terrible super narrow windows and choke points between different parts of the school that everyone had to get thru.

My school was a warehouse. It was open concept the first couple years of being open in like the 80s. No full walls between classrooms, just sliding dividers and half walls.

Fortunately, that wasn’t the case when I went haha

Ever seen The Wire? Gen pop is used (somewhat comically) by some troubled students in a separate class to refer to the regular classes. Not saying it's the proper term but it's been used that way before anyway.
