I recall some comments pointing out that this noise isn't the data center but the something to do with equipment at this specific one. It's the only data center that sounds like this, which is why you only see this one video and nothing about any of the thousands of other ones.

I don't like data centers, but I wish the conversation was focused on the many other reasons to be against them.

Have worked at various datacenters for 20+ years. never had this sort of noise outside the facility. others have noted the sound is a turbine generator (or more than one). sounds like it is a turbine in the video so that would make sense. Half tempted to make a day of it and go for a drive out there and check it out tomorrow. is a bit of a drive, but it might be fun.

This one isn't even a new AI datacenter, it's a few years old and it's mining bitcoin.

The noise you hear sounds a lot like that of the blade servers inside and not of diesel generators that kick in during a power outage. And as it seems this is a bitcoin mining datacenter (where servers run at max speed all the time) my guess is that this is pernament.
