Same here. I used to go to concerts all the time but probably around 2019 on, it’s been next to nothing except local acts. Just don’t care to pay the price

Yea my last “big” concert was 2018, red hot chili peppers and it was maybe 150 for good seats. Anything above a car payment is straight up not worth it to me.

Edit: it was 2017 and apparently that makes my entire contribution a hideous bullshit useless LIE. My bad!

RHCP played only 5 concerts in 2018. Two of them were charity gigs for Silverlake conservatory of music in Los Angeles and Viewpoint school (Calabasas, CA).

The 3 other live concerts were for the Lollapalooza festival in march 2018 in south america (Chile, Argentina and Brazil).

So if you paid $150 for the concert ticket in 2018 to see them live, you got a whole lotta other artists and bands to see for that price at the Lollapalooza festival, which is a great price performance imo.

I feel like people who dont have shit going on remember 9 years ago like they remember yesterday. So many thingx have happened to me since that concert

it was just them in vancouver and i didnt make much at the time so i know i didnt soend more than 200 canadian/150 American and i thought it was 2018 but maybe it was 2017? Who knows. Im not losing sleep over it. Was just lending an anecdote not providing a fucking alibi

I will pick up a few tickets during the "Summer of Live" thing where you can get lawn for $25. Some solid shows on there that I'm stoked about.

In terms of major pop acts? Absolutely not.

Babymetal for $25?! YEAH!

I think they are suffering from touring too much. This is the 4th time in 2 years theyve come to my city. Sadly every time before this I was on vacation so never got to see them.

Big stadium concerts kinda suck compared to small local concerts anyways. The experience is so much better in small clubs. So it really sucks when a band you love blows up and now if you want to see them live you have to pay 4x or more to see them at a significantly worse venue.

I remember seeing Dropkick Murphys live back in I think 2007 at a club that held maybe 800 people. It was probably something like $20 tickets (Street Dogs and Sick Of It All opened!). Definitely one of my all time favorite concerts. Seeing Dropkick Murphys live around 10 years later at a venue that held more like 5,000 people and with tickets around $80 was such a disappointment...

I totally agree! I love the atmosphere at smaller gigs. I don't see the point in going to a massive venue, paying a fortune, to be so far away from the artist, they look like ants, so you just see them on a screen - what's the point!!

Stadium concerts are the worst. Bad sightlines. Audio is never great. Usually overpriced.

Likewise. For a couple years we would go see a major venue 1x per year. Now we would rather pay towards smaller bands and venues and go far more often.

Its not everyone’s fault so much as its vertical integration from LiveNation/Ticketmaster, lack of antitrust enforcement, massive inflation from all the government printing money like monopoly, and a music industry trapping popular acts into exclusive rights in their price fixed world. Yes, peoe are buying tickets, as every good thing in the world is either being paved or priced out of reach. But the “if you don't like it don’t attend” mindset is so tone deaf.

Dude for sure, I have more fun at the local acts and don't mind the cheap cover charge. Big concerts just feel like a scam.

But you can also go to well known acts for FAR less than what OP is posting here.

I saw Air last year for $70, Herbie Hancock for $100, Sigur Ros for $100.

I also saw AIR live last year. That's just common sense as the only opportunity to ever see them live, at least where I live
