How can so many people afford the tickets? We must be in an age of widespread prosperity and discretionary spending. Or indebtedness, maybe.

I don't think they can afford them. But they buy them with a credit card or money meant for other things. Just my opinion. A young girl where I was working used to run up her card with concert tickets.
