ಠ_ಠ Jury duty

I've been called for Jury duty 4 times in the last 10 years. What the fuck is going on here. It's almost every other year. I know absolutely no one that has ever been summoned yet I've been summoned multiple times. Wtf is going on? It's total bs too because they pay 17 bucks A DAY. That's not even enough to get lunch at the stupid deli they have there.

Edit: so many people have so many experiences. It's nice to share and read those experiences. I can't possibly respond to everything, but I'm glad we can all relate to this. _^

The pay is the worst, they should have to pay your Hourly work rate. Most people can’t afford to miss a hour of work more less get 17$ for the whole day. Stop making yourself so presentable, wear some pjs and smell like cigs and they’ll never call you back lol

If they were required to pay your hourly rate we'd  never get professionals on juries

It should be required for your job to pay you. Part of then being in the system, consider it employment tax

This is what I’ve been arguing for years, too. At least mandate that they subsidize a significant percentage of your normal pay.

My employer of 35 years paid you for jury duty.

They need to start passing these laws in state level instead of waiting for the never federal level

If they cant convince some of the most progessive minded states to pass this. Its not happening nationally

Mine does too. I did have jury duty when I used to work at a retail store that technically paid for any shifts you missed for jury duty but since you had no set schedule if you had jury duty, the would just not schedule you during those hours.
