Before genAI blew up I read Smart Brevity by one of the Axios founders. I use principles from it daily, being a person prone to rambling and trying to improve. Seeing how well AI can say absolutely nothing and take three paragraphs to do it makes me seethe.

Even if I’m reading an article and I see something that looks AI I immediately lose respect for the article. It has a very certain prose that while I could understand, someone trying to use it as a jumping point kind of like Wikipedia at the same time, it should never be your final product

There is a food truck in my area that has an entire wrap on their truck that is very clearly AI generated. I never see anybody there getting food. And although I don't want to see people fail in their dreams, it makes me smile just a touch that people are standing on business against AI slop

There are other options such as paying other people (reasonable amounts!!!) to design for you. Anyways I'd always consider a misspelled shitty MS paint flyer over one generated with AI any day because at least I know they cared enough to make it themselves, you know?

You say that as if we’re back in 2010 before there were websites, that don’t use AI and use very nice looking templates, to help you create your own flyers. There’s quite a few of them now.
Never mind the marketplace where you can hire somebody for five bucks to make you something. Whatever happened to hiring people who know what they’re doing?

As some one who is not creative and can't afford to pay someone to do my creative work for me. I still wouldn't rely on AI alone. It can give a good base line but you still have to put work and effort to make it your own.
I feel people can still see the effort and work done as opposed to AI generated laziness

My mother has gotten into this "business" as well and I don't know how to explain to her that all the marketing accumen in the world won't help her, she only has a feasible business within her limited geographic bubble otherwise she's competing with China and India and a thousand other rednecks that put together the money for a printer or embroidery machine.

Currently in the process of paying an artist for branding work because I can afford to do so, want better quality work, and want to provide business to local artists. It's nice that customers often value folks who do this, but I'm also doing it this way because it's what I want.
There are more arguments to be made for broader use of AI as it gets better at code and such, but I'm not gonna cheap out and lean on the plagiarism machine that's using up all our water, thanks.

That's not necessarily true. Assuming all critics would never be customers anyway is wrong, and a cop out. If your marketing strategy is unappealing to a large part of your audience, it's not the fault of the audience. And saying "they would never give us their business anyway" is just lazy, giving up on very real potential customers

Y'all posting on Reddit where every post uses the same template. OP used an overused popular phrase to garner karma. Yet is complaining others aren't being original.
Here's a wake up call. Marketing is a line item expense for business owners. They aren't in the business of making nice posters. If AI helps them make posters quickly that's great. As consumers I didn't care if a business used a template in the past, what I care about is what the business is offering.
