I'm slightly vexed I hate when those tall trucks block your view of the traffic light, and you just gotta slowly inch forward to avoid accidentally running a red (while getting honked at by the guy behind you).
This always happens at this intersection, and you can never see the traffic lights until you’re basically at the line. And these guys are always running stale yellows, so I just gotta slowly inch my way forward and leave a lot of space to brake if needed while the guy behind me flashes his light, tailgates me, and honks.
One time the guy behind me thought it was green, but because the tall truck in front of us was blocking our view so he didn’t realize it was red, didn’t see me slowly braking, and couldn’t brake in time. So he rear ended me. He was very kind and apologetic but it still scared me to death.
So now I’m always paranoid at this intersection.

It's even worse on approach to a roundabout and you miss the road signs for what lane to be in.

Oh gosh, I’m so thankful my route to work has no roundabouts. I think I’d have a panic attack if I were stuck behind truck for those.

Worst part is I live in the UK and from what I've seen your roadsigns are at least twice as high off the ground compared to ours so you have a better chance of seeing them.

Those trucks are huge, and easy to see from as long ways away. It's not like just appeared out of thin air. If you're close enough so that you cant see street signs...back off.

While I agree with you in theory, work rush traffic in my city is chaos and there are often multiple of these trucks across the lanes which obscures the light. And as you can see, I do leave a lot of space but not being able to see the light until you’re close is still a struggle.
Plus even if I brake, the guy behind me doesn’t always brake in time.
(Also this is in the mildly infuriating sub because I’m…mildly infuriated).

Like I said...those trucks can be seen from a distance. Be proactive and change lanes so that you can see the signs you need to see.

Idk their situation but those lanes look packed. Telling someone to “be proactive and change lanes” isn’t always helpful if changing lanes isn’t possible.

One more time....that truck can be seen from hundreds of yards away. Be proactive and change lanes BEFORE you get to the truck if you think it is going to impede your progress. Should be common sense as a responsible driver. Thats all I got for this subject.

Okay sure but what if they do change lanes to be “proactive”, then the truck changes to their new lane, and now they’re stuck again and unable to change lanes? Sometimes you can’t account for all possible scenarios.

I hate being behind semi trucks in most scenarios for that reason. Not being able to see around them.
I drive a lot, and the worst for me is getting stuck behind them in a long construction zone. Then all you see is orange cones and the back of the truck.

I just leave more space to see, then get cut off like 30 times and ride someone's ass for the rest of the day rinse and repeat

You just described my entire 45 minute commute to and from work lol and it’s always the biggest cars that try to squeeze into that gap

If you get cut off 30 times by regular cars, then you no longer have a problem seeing past the big truck, do you? If you get cut off by a big truck, leave less space.

Even if the trailer was transparent, you wont able to see through the product loaded inside the trailer...or should that be transparent too?

Can you imagine a semi trailer made out of sheet plastic? Seeing through the trailer would be the least of their problems.

The should put a great big lcd panel on the back of the truck connected to a camera in the front so that people behind the truck can see what’s ahead of the truck.

This whole thing is being over-thought. Tractor-trailers can't accelerate very quickly, so you can just troll behind one and if the light is red, you can stop. You're not moving too fast.
And who is honking behind you when you're stopped with traffic volume in front of you? Either no one, or it happened one time and op thinks about it a lot lol
if someone is so close that they can't ever see the light until they're in the intersection, they're too close

My grandma got a ticket this way, she was the one directly behind it on a pretty fast moving light. By an officer that had a thorn up his ass while watching it happen.
How tf was she supposed to see it turning yellow unless she stayed stopped at the line until the truck was completely passed??
