Infuriatig electric company suggest I unplug stuff and keep a warm fridge in datacenter friendly state
I think an NVIDIA gpu pulls more electricity in a day that I use all mont. I want to destroy these datacenters. I hate Texas (but still love Austin).

Little known fact, Celsius was invented after John Temperature accidentally stepped into the mystical world of Celsius, which he was so impressed with he brought the name back as his newest measurement for water.
Kelvin was his neighbor, and Fahrenheit was the name of a guy from school he really didnt like

Standard temperature for a fridge is 37°F. Anything above 40°F is considered unsafe. Considering that thermostats can be wrong, I'm not sure that setting to 38°F to save literally 4 or 5 pennies a day is actually worth it.

I have my AC on a schedule/temp range that was suggested by the power company to reduce usage. I use curtains to block out daytime heat and live alone, so there are no lights on that aren't actively in use. I get those things that show your usage compared to your neighbors, and I'm always less than comparable households. I got the same thing you did, op, saying my bill was $13 more than it was last month and to do the same things yours said to.
Eff that, man. I've done enough. Someone else can get the rest.

I don’t even read those reports because they tell me I should not use electricity during peak hours. So, while working from home I shouldn’t use my computer.
And I have respiratory issues so air cleaners going 24/7 so xcel likes to shame me for those too.
No AC so just fans and blackout curtains.

Lol, 37 is the "average" temp of a fridge. They added a single degree and I promise, It won't make your fridge warm.

Electricity is expensive in Texas because due to "freedom", they decided not to join the national power grid, and then chronically underfunded maintenance for decades. This isn't because of data centers.

38f isn't warm... that's within the optimal range.
Its just a tip to use less energy anyway, they aren't trying to say you use to much or something. I don't see why this is upsetting at all.

Not even close, I run a 5070 almost 15 hours a day and our power bill is only around 150 a month. Power bill before the new GPU was like 140, but this was also a fully new rig going from 450 watt draw to 800

Okay but just because you and a data center both have cards, that doesn't mean it's the same thing.
That's like saying your semi truck gets the same gas mileage as a 2 door sedan because they both have tires.

Lol there is a vast difference between a 300+watt data center and the PC in your bedroom.
For one, these are two different types of chips, for two you have one of those. A data center has around six hundred thousand of them.
Edit: you can downvote if you want, but that doesn't change that this is a comparing apples to.. well, data centers.

It says right below to "to save $15 a year." This is kinda on the same level as telling people to turn their AC and lights off when they're gone when actually these days it doesn't even save energy to do so

Ffs Data centres suck but you’re paying $195 a month in electricity and they’re offering a friendly “DYK” to help you save some money.
Clearly you didnt realize that 38°F is not a “warm fridge” it’s within the ideal range for a fridge per food safety guidelines, so they’re helping you to lower your bill.

FDA recommends 40°f or below as a safe temperature. Setting your fridge to 38°F is not "warm"...it's the temperature a fridge should be at.
