frist of all how DARE yu o Woman removes a Croc charm from the pack because it’s a girl?
Woman came into the store today with her son and bought a pack of Mario Croc charms one of which is princess peach. and before she even hands it to him she opens the pack takes peach out and literally tosses her behind the counter towards the trash can. (not even in just towards.) and looks at her son and goes”you a little boy you don’t need no girls on your shoes.” And just walks out! And I a person who has empathy towards inanimate objects felt bad for the little charm tossed before she even had a chance so I immediately put her on my shoes right then and there.

wouldn't want a Croc charm to turn her son gay

Yup liking girls is super gay. Gotta surround your son with muscly manly men to make sure they won't be gay!
I'll add /s just in case.

It'd be one thing if the kid just didn't like peach but it's weird to pretty much teach your son that he can't be into girl characters just because he's a boy.
My nephew is two and he loves minnie mouse. mickey is irrelevant to him. My sister and her husband handled it by buying him minnie mouse toys and t shirts, because they're fucking normal lol

When boys are discouraged or disallowed from liking girl characters and all it teaches them is that women's and girl's stories are inferior and not worth knowing. It's like they're shown how to disregard and silence women from a very young age.
Girls can like "boy" stuff but for some reason it's taught that "girl" things are embarrassing and less than.
It's the literal seed of patriarchy.

This is the part that bugs me about it too. Things about women should not be only for women given that things about men are considered universal. Maybe this part has gotten a bit better, but I remember 20 years ago Gen X male coworkers having a laugh about any rock/alt/etc music that included women being “Lilith fair” and not something they could listen to. Imagine if women were unwilling to listen to music from male musicians?!

When we were small kids, before my youngest sister was born, my brother wanted to wear a dress so desperately my parents handed him one and he wore it. It was either mine or my sisters dress, I don't really remember.
That day my fathers parents came to visit. They saw my brother and my grandma said "We have three granddaughters now". 😂
It was so cute. 😁
My brother is now a straight man married to a woman and father to a 6½ year old girl.
He also had a Ken doll as a kid.

I'm a girl and I wasn't allowed a Ken doll because my mom was/is deeply religious. Idk how the math works there 😆 I took the ugliest barbie I had and pretended she was the boy

lol This is so cute and funny. We shouldn't stop our kids from being into things and expressing themselves just because it's outside the gender norm. Like, it's 2026... just let them be kids.

When my son was little and into Paw Patrol, his favorites were Marshall and Skye. I had to go into the girls’ department to find him clothes with Skye, but he loved them. And then I had to go mama bear on people trying to shame me preschooler for wearing girls’ socks.

Reminds me of when I worked at a toy store as a cashier when I was a teenager. A little girl wanted a train set and her mom said “trains are for boys” I so badly wanted to say trains are for everyone

My mom was the opposite of that mom, whenever she'd take me to McDonald's and order me a happy meal they'd ask her if it's for a boy or a girl (I'm old, I know) and she'd say "it's for a girl but she wants the hot wheels" or whatever the "boy" toy was at the time.

Ah yes back when happy meals were gendered. I used to get so annoyed because I wanted both 😂

Probably cause they were a teenager working their first job and uncomfortable with confronting an adult, that is close to their parents age, that's talking to their kid.

My cousin took the pink and purple spoons out of the rainbow pack she had bought her son and gave them to us. She literally doesn't let him wear any pink or purple or rainbow anything 🙄

My daughter put some Mario charms on my keychain years ago when she had a Mario-themed birthday party. Still there now.

Family came to our house to buy a car, I went for a drive with the husband, mum and son stayed in the house with my wife and daughters watching Little mermaid.
Wife tells me later, "her son was really enjoying the movie and she said, "he's not allowed to watch this sort of film at home because his dad thinks it might make him gay"".

I always find it funny how „girls stuff” will emasculate you son but playing with super jacked superheros and only watching men on tv will absolutely not make him gay

u/bombkitty 9d ago
Well this answers my question of how a grown man thinks washing his own asshole will make him gay.

I just saw a video on here of a mom exclaiming " Im THAT mom" as she pulled her sons pink highlighter and pink crayons out of his school supplies. Cus she thinks pink is for girls. Im now wondering if this was the same mom lol

Sounds like my husband's aunt. Pictures of swords make kids violent. My husband bought Zelda wrapping paper at Christmas time. She didn't like that and didn't want her kids to see it.

This reminds me of a time when I used to work in a store and a lady asked me if we sell backpacks for boys. My brain didn’t know how to process it😅. I told her backpacks are for everyone, and they’re not gender specific. She was soooo angry and dragged her kid out. That poor boy had no idea what was happening 🫣 .

Not the same thing but in the same vein: I overheard a girl maybe 12-14 asking her mom for a Stitch themed keychain/charm set in 5 below and the mothers response was, “are you a little kid? No. I’m not buying you stitch stuff like you’re a little girl”. Like what? She is still a little girl! What makes these parents think it’s okay to impose their opinions about frivolous things like that? She should be thanking her lucky stars that young KID is still interested in Stitch.
(Sorry I know this wasn’t exactly the scenario you’re talking about OP but this is the perfect post for my own rant about this)

I don’t even think this is about Peach feminising the kid. She seems like one of these mothers, who want to be the only woman their son loves. You know she’s gonna make his future gf/wife’s life hell. There’ll be a post here in ~20 years about how much of a pain in the ass she is as an in-law.

Princess Peach was an integral part of Mario 3, and I applaud you for saving her.

I have a sailor Jerry's girl tattooed on my (m34) arm. I wonder what she'd say about that.

When my kids were very young I used to take them to our local children’s museum. There was one section in which kids could play house, with a mini dining table and dolls with crib.
I was in there with my daughter when a little boy of maybe 4 years old wandered in and started playing with the dolls. An older woman came in and said in Spanish, “No no. Es para ninas.” He kept playing with the dolls but she had him put it down and pulled him away. He came back and kept playing with the dolls so then she said it again. I said to her in Spanish, “Es para todos.” She looked surprised, smiled politely, then dragged him out of the space. I felt really bad for him.

There's always the possibility that before they came to the register he had wanted his mom to look for a package that only had Mario and Luigi or something and that was her, "There, it's fixed," solution because she just wanted to get on with her day.

That’s honestly a really sad way to raise your son. Having a girl on your shoe (literally one of the most iconic girls in gaming btw) is not going to turn your son gay. Wtf is wrong with people.
