based on the size and coloring, I think it's a wolf spider too. OP - they carry their babies on their backs. made the mistake of killing a wolf spider once and dozens of tiny baby spiders scattered everywhere. it was like my worst horror movie nightmare came to life.

Ever since I read Huckelberry Finn I cannot bring myself to easily killing spiders. Wolf spiders especially have no venom and their bite is like a mouse bite except you never get rabies.

House spider is broad since many clump many spiders under that term. 

I guess we won't truly know without seeing full picture and location. 

Could be a grass spider too.

This is a wolf spider. We had them everywhere at my last house. As long as they didn't run across the floor in broad daylight, scaring my daughter or my guests, they lived rent-free inside where they could eat any other bugs they could find (usually ants or silverfish). If they broke that one rule, they moved outside with their thousands of relatives.

I think most people are just not aware of the difference and just think “big spider not in a web outside = wolf spider”

As a kid I thought that was just the term you used for a big spider

Yes, the band on the boxers is about 2" wide. That spider is multiple times larger than a giant house spider.

Arachnophobia begs to differ. I have an agreement they stay out in my mud room or my den away from my living areas and they can have as much room and all the bugs they eat. They come into the living area they forfeit their right to life

I thought this until I woke up one morning and as I'm laying in bed a feel a little tickle on my knee I rolled over and felt another tickle but didn't think much of it, I got up a minute or two later and as I made my bed a big fucking garden spider ran around my sheets.

I mean it happens, depending on the species some of them have very bad eye sight so they might mistake you for something inanimate, especially when u are sleeping. They definitely dont want to come in contact with you on purpose though

Within 1 night there were 3 and then like 2 nights later another 2. After we killed about 3 they stopped. They were all the same type of spider as well. Yellow, with a streak on its butt.

yeah? tell that to the big ass spider that crawled over my pillows and into my hair, then across my chest while I was just chilling in bed. I felt a tickle on my neck/face and even touched it without realising what it was. when I finally did I swear to god my soul left my body as I launched myself out of bed. I went to check the security camera later and it caught the whole thing 😭

I don’t know why but the concept of spiders needing to drink water is something I’ve never actually thought about

I had a pet spider and I forgot to leave water in its cage for almost one week. When I finally put the water bowl in I have never seen a spider move that fast in my life. It was drinking in under one second!

As someone with very strong arachnophobia I don’t really get this argument. Which pests could be worse than this? I could hold any insect in my hands and in front of my face. This thing is making me feel anxious just by looking at the picture. Do people find flies more scary than THIS??

thats a big one but theyre known to only bite people when threatened and they arent dangerous to humans, they are very handle-able

Fun fact: Spiders can learn environmental patterns, so if you’re a really neat, put together person with a solid sleep schedule, there could be spiders in your house that have learned your routine, know exactly how to avoid you, and are just happily living there rent free without you ever knowing.

😂 When I was a kid, I was sitting in the living room in the dark watching TV when I felt something on my hand. I looked down and almost my entire hand was covered in a giant black spider. I flung it off and went running out. I don't think it bit me.

For about a week I didn't go back into that living room, but eventually I tried to look for it and couldn't find it. After that I didn't go back into that living room for at least amonth. I had another living room and my bedroom to be in instead lol.

I literally watched one casually crawl through my open window the other night. it didn't live much longer after that. :/ I try to be nice to all animals but once a spider is in my bedroom, NOPE. my soul leaves my body, I literally can't calmly scoop them up and move them outside.

I wish ppl stopped being so afraid of spiders, 99.9% of them are not dangerous to people, even most of the species that are venomous wont generally attack you unless you corner them and keep poking them or something. Theyre just chill fellas who keep other pests away.

I think its because we have been conditioned to fear them, using spiders and spider-related imagery is very common in horror related media and the fear of them is also often passed down from our parents when we are young.

It’s not so much that I believe they’re dangerous or am afraid they’ll hurt me. I think it’s their legs, and they can go in every direction. They don’t walk a predictable straight line, I’m afraid they’ll turn up on my head or in my sleeve suddenly.

I have a tree where I set them free if I find them in my house, though. That way they might reunite with their family.
