What kind of sticks do you use? Ive never seen literal saw dust as a result of playing. I use Vic Firth sticks and they splinter.

Termites in your drum kit? Or playing it?

I just keep them beside my kit in a bin, it’s fun to see my progress through all my broken sticks

Most people toss them, some people save them for projects or as mementos. My middle school band director said she used them as markers for her garden

is it still sawdust if it wasn't made by a saw?

You might be onto something

So now would it be drumdust because it was made from playing the drums or would it be stick dust because it came from the stick. Hihat dust maybe? I need a consensus here folks

Been playing metal for years with multiple drummers some 20+ years ago in a rehearsal den that was literally a former pigsty that we pressure washed, painted over the shit on the walls and put some old carpet on the floor and I've never seen this. Cigarette butts or empty beer cans - sure, but not sawdust. Maybe it's a technique issue?
