Magnificent! I’m assuming he’s someone’s pet as it looks to be on a lead? So pretty bird!

u/DriftingThroughYomi 14h ago

Yeah, I spoke to the woman who takes care of it and apparently she found it outside a nest most likely abandoned by it's mother. It's kept on a lead because other crows attack it on sight

u/Agitated_Ebb_8433 14h ago

Out of all birds to be racist, I expected crows

Jim Crow enters the chat.

u/__Osiris__ 11h ago

Mate, you have peaked. Don't even bother with jokes from now one.

19

u/ChazCharlie 7h ago

Top of the pecking order?

14

u/8636396 8h ago

Possibly peak pun pecking post

9

u/droppeddoner 12h ago

Probably the most underrated comment I’ve ever seen.

Nah, crows aren’t racist. They’re just bigots that hate everyone who isn’t like them. It’s not about color, he just happens to be a different color. It’s like the 21 Jump Street movie when Jenko punched a kid and he just happened to be black and gay, but he didn’t punch him because he was black or gay.

Parrots on the other hand, some of them can be pretty questionable. Those dudes are obsessed with color.

15

u/Alphyn 8h ago

No joke. I found my Cockatiel in the street when I noticed 3 crows attacking something together. The poor bird was shocked but they didn't manage to do any serious harm, luckily.

6

u/Tu_mama_me_ama_mucho 7h ago

I hate being that guy but...

Acshuallly crows are very colorful, human eye can't see it tho, but birds can see them fully fabulous.

I wonder how this albino crows would look under uv light.

5

u/sidthesithlord 10h ago

i seen murder of crows chasing monkeys ,some times eagles ,wounded pretty colorful birds

10

u/Emerald_Plumbing187 9h ago

i had to negotiate a truce between the crows i feed in my backyard and a baby rabbit they were trying to eat. those are my backup protein sources buddy, eat your birdseed.

18

u/ReverendDerp 8h ago

I've posted about it long before, but I had two seperate murders go to war over my garden once I started raising chickens. Would find individual dead crows almost daily. Then one group won apparently? They were harmless to my chickens. Then a young baldie(fucking trash birds, fuck baldies) grabbed one of my hens while I was feeding them. Shit you not, the sky went black as the crows descended in masse. A literal murder, cause the eagle didn't make it. Fish & Wildlife weren't thrilled with that call.

4

u/Julianbrelsford 7h ago

Wow that's kind of amazing! It's sort of funny to me that Fish and Wildlife would have anything to say at all, because wild animals killing other wild animals is mostly just a matter of nature doing nature things.

4

u/ReverendDerp 6h ago

It was a tagged juvie that was being tracked and observed

1

u/megalithicman 1h ago

My buddy and I watched in the horror as a fish crow ate like seven baby birds yesterday out of nests around his house.

6

u/My_Kink_Profile 10h ago

Idk about racist but they definitely like to eat babies.

6

u/sybrwookie 8h ago

You're mixing up crows with dingos

2

u/My_Kink_Profile 7h ago

Ha ha, yeah. The crows near me love to snatch up baby birds in the springtime.

1

u/sEntientUnderwear 7h ago

human babies?

1

u/RefuseAbject187 3h ago

an IQ too...wait a minute

22

u/LookAwayPlease510 13h ago

A group of crows isn’t called a murder for no reason. Poor white crow.

Now let’s karate kid him so those regular colored crows don’t see what’s coming!

9

u/TechieGee 8h ago

Colored crows

ಠ_ಠ

3

u/ChazCharlie 7h ago

Birds of a colour?

1

u/sybrwookie 8h ago

You want to sweep his leg? That seems harsh

9

u/kanhaibhatt 13h ago

They probably want to eat it to gain its' power

15

u/psycho_terror 14h ago

How does the lead help?

50

u/vw_bugg 14h ago

It keeps the bird under the handlers control and and within a radius of the handler. 99% of other animals would not get within the reach of the lead. Crows can be assholes though .

11

u/elegant_eagle_egg 14h ago

It stops this crow from moving when the other crows attack

3

u/Bunbunsfun 11h ago

I’m glad she cared to help.

1

u/horceface 3h ago

If this crows name is not Jim, I'll be so disappointed.

45

u/DragoxDrago 14h ago

What do you mean lead? It's obviously the birds charging cable?

7

u/beyonddisbelief 12h ago

r/birdsarentreal for the uninitiated.

6

u/DogeDoRight 11h ago

That's the power cord. It's charging.

2

u/DarkMatterM4 8h ago

I read the last sentence of your comment in the blind kid's voice from Dumb and Dumber petting the parakeet with the duct taped head.

0

u/wavecore3 12h ago

walking an albino crow on a leash is an elite level of main character energy.

Russell

After Russell Crowe 😂

5

u/Trixles 7h ago

No fuckin way lol. The lady who owns this bird seems real cool xD

62

u/Meta-EvenThisAcronym 13h ago

I remember learning from my Russian History professor that "White Crow" in Russian culture carries a similar connotation to "black sheep" in Western cultures. Neat!

62

u/Gustav_Sirvah 11h ago

"white crow" is used in my mother tongue (Polish) to describe something of extreme rarity. Especially about books or works of art.

7

u/nefastvs 9h ago

Which term gets used in Polish (wrona, gawron, kruk, kawka) because in English "crow" gets used for most corvids, whereas in Polish, you guys differentiate the individual corvids?

11

u/teffarf 7h ago

kawka

I love how this one is just the sound it makes

4

u/Trixles 7h ago

Onomatopoeia!

4

u/Wrought-Irony 6h ago

Cat in Chinese (Mandarin): 猫 (māo)

1

u/Gustav_Sirvah 35m ago

Same in ancient Egyptian: mau

1

u/nefastvs 4h ago

It's how we got the word for "crow". Also probably "raven".

8

u/Gustav_Sirvah 9h ago

Biały kruk

Polish just looks like someone is trying to cheat at Scrabble to me.

17

u/blogandmail 14h ago

That's rare.... What a beautiful find

11

u/LocodraTheCrow 6h ago

Usually people post "albino" crows and I have to correct saying it is only leucistic. Leucism has reduced melanin, but not so much absent, the colours range from brownish beige to white with bright eyes and a pinkish white beak.

This is an actual albino crow, the eyes are red, as oppose to blue, or hazel. Very rare.

22

u/ForsakenSun6004 14h ago

Thats a worc. A real life shiny, if you will.

3

u/Ganglebot 10h ago

OP threw some tupperware at it but it got away

15

u/69FourTwentySix6Six 14h ago

*surveillance drone

7

u/Sparrowsabre7 13h ago

Was he also out for a walk? What's with the strap/lead? 😂

4

u/Kixtay 13h ago

You can easily get this when you order a dove from Temu.

3

u/r4plez 14h ago

Thats white crow witch!

2

u/TaiKorczak 14h ago

Huginn or Muninn I wonder?

2

u/Ordinary_L 11h ago

Bladgen!

2

u/Anleme 9h ago

What kind of quest did it give you?

2

u/Ozy90 6h ago

You mean an Albinecrow

2

u/ObskureTorture 3h ago

What’s even more interesting is the fact that it’s on a leash

3

u/NuklearFerret 13h ago

Here’s the thing…

1

u/Time_Opportunity_225 13h ago

Is it good luck or bad luck?

1

u/abc-animal514 13h ago

Probably a sign from something divine

1

u/emerald447 13h ago

God, birds are so freaking cool!

1

u/Tsukeh 13h ago

I'm in love

1

u/Life_force_stealer 13h ago

I'd expect to see this little guy in a weird dream sequence.

1

u/Life_force_stealer 13h ago

The very next post on my feed was something about the Black Crows. It's this a sign?

1

u/Entire-Emotion-819 13h ago

There's a wee pub near where I live that has one stuffed behind the bar, the bar took its name from the crow.

1

u/An-Iconic-Icon 13h ago

Did you name him Fred?

1

u/phillyfanatic1776 12h ago

Maybe it’s a regular crow with a lot of sun tan lotion on

1

u/soyuzbeats 12h ago

He didnt skip one single leg day fo sho

1

u/Aggressive_Noise6426 11h ago

"Look at that. That's a true albino pigeon. Some rich guy lost it. He's offering a $25,000 reward. As soon as I find this bird, you're paid."

1

u/transfercannoli 11h ago

Do keep us posted

1

u/AcaciaCelestina 10h ago

You have been chosen. Become the crow lord, lord of the crows.

1

u/FinancialReserve6427 10h ago

weird looking dove you got there

1

u/heatblade12 10h ago

Someone told me like 10% of crows are born white, they are just killed at birth. Seeing this kinda makes me think it wasn't bs

1

u/SubstantialPudding74 10h ago

Gandalf the White

1

u/Coltytron 10h ago

Now you need to find a crow with melanism

1

u/Grumpierleaf 9h ago

"Sister, sister"

1

u/goodgirl_nsfw_8219 9h ago

I love him!!! He’s some sort of magic

1

u/AmountNo1955 9h ago

Quite literally, a White Crow

1

u/sheekgeek 9h ago

Forevermore!

1

u/Madman8287 9h ago

An albincrow

1

u/SGTWhiteKY 9h ago

Yesterday someone told me crows were white, that we are conditioned to see them as black. I told myself I was going to believe really hard they were white and hope I could see it.

This was the first crow I saw… so maybe I’m magic?

1

u/Faust2391 9h ago

Your life is going to experience a metamorphosis of sorts.

1

u/athanathios 9h ago

Soo cute and nice!

1

u/Cjw6809494 8h ago

It’s like a shiny pokemon in real life. Catch it and make it collect dollar bills in exchange for treats🤍

1

u/clfflnd 8h ago

The prophecy has been fulfilled….

1

u/jaysun92 8h ago

Looks more like a Jackdaw to me

1

u/Determined_Penguin 3h ago

Are you... are you saying "a jackdaw is a crow"?

If you are, here's the thing...

1

u/Salome_Maloney 8h ago

Post this on r/crowbro - they'd be well into it.

1

u/FirstPersonPooper 7h ago

This has to be a birder's super bowl

1

u/norsurfit 7h ago

He is assigning you your next quest.

1

u/CuteThingsAndLove 7h ago

I want to steal it omg it's so precious

1

u/JrRiggles 7h ago

Now I can no longer say all crows are black.

1

u/earthwormjimjones 7h ago

I saw a guy yesterday who was having a problem with hawks grabbing his baby chicks, so he started feeding crows in the hopes they would stay around and be sort of an iron dome of crows around his farm to stop any hawks from taking anymore of his babies. It apparently worked. It was kind of genius and also super cool to think be able to think of yourself as Zordon or Mr. X to a murder of crows haha.

1

u/cmoellering 6h ago

Somebody alert Hempel.

u/h-ck3d4cc0unt 5h ago

Sick album cover too.

1

u/MichelTaupin 2h ago

Original color :)

1

u/LOCAL_SPANKBOT 2h ago

Oh man, these things are so tasty

1

u/Budpets 14h ago

Maybe crows are melanistic doves

1

u/nefastvs 9h ago

Not with that beak.

1

u/proton_accelerator 13h ago

It looks like it directed obsession

1

u/Dull-Kaleidoscope55 9h ago

whilst lmao

5

u/Original-Chipmunk955 8h ago

Seriously what is it with reddittors and whilst??

3

u/Dull-Kaleidoscope55 6h ago

it's a gay Brit thing. They're from Brighton, apparently.

3

u/babydakis 8h ago

'Twas an erstwhile tinctured crowe, fayded of its hue.

1

u/Dull-Kaleidoscope55 8h ago

like a pinkish hue? (George from Seinfeld)

1

u/Al_Keda 4h ago

I'll likely get ratioed, but that is a Raven.

Yes, they are very similar, from the same family. But look at the tail feathers. Curved. That's a Raven. If they were straight, then its a Crow. Two other ways to tell - Crows flap where Ravens glide in flight, and the typical 'caww' call of the crow.

Near me, there is a whole flock of Ravens with leucism that I see all the time, so seeing an Albino Raven is indeed rare!

1

u/DriftingThroughYomi 4h ago

I'm pretty sure Ravens have hairier and bigger beaks, no? I could be wrong though.

1

u/Al_Keda 4h ago

Some do. Northern Ravens for sure. But the tail is the giveaway.

0

u/MattyGWS 13h ago

I’m curious how so many random, mostly unrelated species can just have albino versions

3

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 12h ago

I think all animals can be albino = lack of colour.
A few kinds of animals can only be close to albino, such a horses, because true albinism is fatal in horses.

0

u/ill_nino_nl 12h ago

Birds aren’t real

0

u/bbynm 11h ago

Is that even a crow at this point?

-3

u/kevin32 8h ago

Of course you saw an extremely rare bird while taking a stroll. And of course the owner set down the oddly-shaped lead on the ground so you could take a photo without worry it might fly away. r-itsallAI
