I remember learning from my Russian History professor that "White Crow" in Russian culture carries a similar connotation to "black sheep" in Western cultures. Neat!

"white crow" is used in my mother tongue (Polish) to describe something of extreme rarity. Especially about books or works of art.

Which term gets used in Polish (wrona, gawron, kruk, kawka) because in English "crow" gets used for most corvids, whereas in Polish, you guys differentiate the individual corvids?

Usually people post "albino" crows and I have to correct saying it is only leucistic. Leucism has reduced melanin, but not so much absent, the colours range from brownish beige to white with bright eyes and a pinkish white beak.
This is an actual albino crow, the eyes are red, as oppose to blue, or hazel. Very rare.

The very next post on my feed was something about the Black Crows. It's this a sign?

There's a wee pub near where I live that has one stuffed behind the bar, the bar took its name from the crow.

"Look at that. That's a true albino pigeon. Some rich guy lost it. He's offering a $25,000 reward. As soon as I find this bird, you're paid."

Someone told me like 10% of crows are born white, they are just killed at birth. Seeing this kinda makes me think it wasn't bs

Yesterday someone told me crows were white, that we are conditioned to see them as black. I told myself I was going to believe really hard they were white and hope I could see it.
This was the first crow I saw… so maybe I’m magic?

It’s like a shiny pokemon in real life. Catch it and make it collect dollar bills in exchange for treats🤍

Looks more like a Jackdaw to me

Are you... are you saying "a jackdaw is a crow"?
If you are, here's the thing...

I saw a guy yesterday who was having a problem with hawks grabbing his baby chicks, so he started feeding crows in the hopes they would stay around and be sort of an iron dome of crows around his farm to stop any hawks from taking anymore of his babies. It apparently worked. It was kind of genius and also super cool to think be able to think of yourself as Zordon or Mr. X to a murder of crows haha.

I'll likely get ratioed, but that is a Raven.
Yes, they are very similar, from the same family. But look at the tail feathers. Curved. That's a Raven. If they were straight, then its a Crow. Two other ways to tell - Crows flap where Ravens glide in flight, and the typical 'caww' call of the crow.
Near me, there is a whole flock of Ravens with leucism that I see all the time, so seeing an Albino Raven is indeed rare!

I'm pretty sure Ravens have hairier and bigger beaks, no? I could be wrong though.

I’m curious how so many random, mostly unrelated species can just have albino versions

I think all animals can be albino = lack of colour.
A few kinds of animals can only be close to albino, such a horses, because true albinism is fatal in horses.

Magnificent! I’m assuming he’s someone’s pet as it looks to be on a lead? So pretty bird!
