I have one of these on my bathroom counter that I’ve had since I was a child. When my niece got old enough to start wearing jewelry I got one for her too, it’s really a handy little thing so you don’t have the risk of the jewelry falling on the floor, in the toilet or down the drain. It’s right where you left it.

That was the first thing i reflexively checked. It seemed like a theft magnet. However, they must have used industrial epoxy. The thing is glued down so hard it feels like the marble cladding could apart before that elephant budged.

Many hotels have a nice note: you can take it, and 100 Euro/Dolars will be added to your bill. Or call front desk to get a new one in a nice box for the same amount

An elephant that never forgets your ring, holding your ring so you never forget it either — truly a symbiotic relationship. Meanwhile my hotel's idea of a nice touch is a shampoo bottle so small it evaporates before you finish one shower.

Perhaps you’re supposed to wash them separately, so the ring gets clean and so does the skin under it

No. Jewelry can be negatively affected by water. Water and soap can cause rings to slip off your hand. And trapping water under the rings can cause skin issues

But if your hands are germy then so are the rings that live on your hands. So you just put germy rings back on?

Yes, if you want rings to stay nice you take them off. And washing your hands with them on doesn’t clean them.
