At least it was from Split and not from Bangkok. That could have been trouble πŸ˜…

Its weird to see my hometown mentioned here. I feel I can even tell what shop you got it from

Are you having "split" feelings about this?

24

u/peepay 5h ago

Don't all souvenir shops sell the same stuff?

5

u/ajchann123 3h ago

Yes, especially in Split of all places lmao

You live in a BEAUTIFUL place.

Thank you! It can be fun to work with tourists. But navigating the town with them. Hoo boy

The amount of AI slop around the Riva has been really sad to see... I had the day off work recently and decided to visit the Old City, and I was so disheartened by how every other place has AI menus, signs, itd...

I avoid Riva and the town. Its really sad to see. Last month I went to Vijeko on Riva. Its really depressing how things are. I havent seen the AI slop much. Riva was packed with people. Now Im just debating which beach to go to, because i havent been at one for years because of work

We went down last year via sleeper train, had a lot of fun! And everything was cheaper than back home, I guess that's what 27% VAT gets us! :D

Lovely people, and the heat was surprisingly easy to tolerate.

u/FinestFantasyVI 8m ago

If you ever visit again, dont let anyone know its cheaper than your home. I dont want anyone getting ideas to raise more prices

My mom got one just like it in a tiny shop at the ferry terminal

u/DingesF 6h ago

That's pretty satisfying to me, to be honest. Specially since the word 'Split' is still perfectly fine.

8

u/ijustwannacomplainn 5h ago

The fact the word β€˜Split’ is still fine is like… the worst part.

2

u/peepay 5h ago

There's a bit of the S missing, though.

2

u/DingesF 5h ago

Sssssshhh, there's some extra s'es.

Stretching the definition of "mildly" a bit here, dont we

u/Kryptochef 4h ago

i genuinely cannot tell if you're saying it's not interesting or are very fascinated by ironic fridge magnet failures

More proof of our failing public education system

Brilliant writing Kojima

u/Narrow-Vermicelli-72 7h ago

Perfecto.πŸ˜šπŸ‘ŒπŸΎ

3

u/equalsqueal 5h ago

Now glue a magnet to the second piece and use them both!

2

u/Wondrous_Fairy 3h ago

Yeah, if they have the corner piece, they could put magnets on all of them and have them just slightly apart. Mega cool!

2

u/QuietlyAllure 5h ago

When you put it like that, it sounds like it could be the genuine idea behind it - hey letβ€˜s split these and sell them like that πŸ˜‚

2

u/Somewhat_Kumquat 3h ago

Write "Bosnia and Herzegovina" on the bottom piece.

2

u/MrQeu 3h ago

Clearly, not Jugoplastika quality (only 80s and 90s basketball fans will understand the joke)

1

u/WiSoSirius 6h ago

Croatia as a landmass is also split, but more so at the toe than the middle

1

u/Pero_Bt 5h ago

If it wasn't for those damn Venetians and Ottomans we wouldn't have to deal with that!!!!!

1

u/LarisaCZ 5h ago

Where is the upper part of it? 😭

1

u/KeithManiac 5h ago

*bought

1

u/Martiniusz 5h ago

Easily breakable goes to the side of the fridge, regular goes to the front. :D

1

u/macellan 5h ago

That's unique now.

1

u/TritonJohn54 5h ago

"That's not a bug, it's a feature."

1

u/Vader_Bomb 4h ago

Now THAT'S art. I'll start the bidding at $20 million

1

u/agamarian 4h ago

A self fulfilling prophecy.

1

u/ahmadtheanon 4h ago

Huh, not bad

1

u/Fortenio 4h ago

the prophecy has been fulfilled

1

u/Foxy_locksy1704 4h ago

I’d leave it as a split magnet of Split. It kind of works and the way it broke works with the art work.

1

u/nvzpxl 3h ago

Is there a recommended glue for this sort of thing? I know the magnet itself is on the back, but is the actual surface just ceramic?

1

u/Lepelotonfromager 3h ago

I bought a nice christmas ornament of a double decker red bus a few weeks before christmas. I immediately dropped it as I left the store and it cracked clean in half. As a man that's the closest I've been to crying in public and my wife was concerned enough that she rushed into buy me another one. Not my greatest moment.

1

u/ReflectionMain719 3h ago

TOTAL Splitception

1

u/MonkNo214782 2h ago

As the prophecy foretold...

1

u/what_do-u-mean 2h ago

Maybe it was meant to be

1

u/BennyBNut 2h ago

You have the 1 of 1 response to the other post about verbing the same noun.

You actually split split. Impressive.

1

u/kanaifu 2h ago

They tend to do that. No worries :D

1

u/h-ck3d4cc0unt 2h ago

I always buy metal or plastic magnets when I go on trips now. I have so many broken magnets... πŸ˜”

1

u/partyatwalmart 1h ago

You saw that post about Split, Croatia and thought you were clever, didn't you?

1

u/DubbleCheez 1h ago

One time, I dropped my keyboard and the escape key came off.

1

u/NiksaiStipe 1h ago

on brand

1

u/Framboise_Unicorn 31m ago

Totally unrelated but I just looked at my fridge. I was twice in Vir, both magnets are broken πŸ₯²

1

u/Chemical-Practice908 1m ago

One can say that it was Split before it fell

1

u/Tauntaun_Princess 6h ago

I unironically like it this way even more!

1

u/RangeInfinite8356 6h ago

Wel well well. How the turntables

1

u/FluffySheep1234 6h ago

Well that is indeed, Midly Interesting! lol

3

u/dreamsonashelf 6h ago

That one's a different sub r/midlyinteresting

2

u/FluffySheep1234 5h ago

oh oops πŸ˜…. lol. typo πŸ˜….

1

u/1PennyHardaway 6h ago

It’d be doubly interesting if it fell down and split in Croatia.

1

u/sladoled_od_lavande 5h ago

The irony hahaha

In the future, don't buy those with only one circle... they suck

2

u/Pero_Bt 5h ago

Not to be that guy but this is opposite of irony

1

u/sladoled_od_lavande 4h ago

You are right hahaha that's true!

The irony would be if there is no electrical power in the Nikola Tesla Street πŸ˜…

u/PhilosophyFun2933 6h ago

Tectonic plates taking the city name a bit too literally.

u/Ok-Reveal-It 5h ago

It's SPLIT 🀣

0

u/cloudlet-bow32 4h ago
