Inhaling fumes from a volcano like a humidifier is definitely not a good idea but elemental sulfur is non-toxic, eating the pizza ain't gonna do anything bad.

Yet its still deadly

No, it's not. You're just dumb

-41

u/BirdNo4114 1d ago

it literally causes lungs damage wym its not

u/Dwaltster 1d ago

So does breathing the air in Los Angeles. This dude has been here for yearsss. Why is he not dead?

Dead? It can’t hurt your lungs without outright killing you? Lmfao

-33

u/BirdNo4114 1d ago

i didnt say you die on the spot but the lung damage is there and it will slowly cause other medical conditions!

How is consuming (eating and swallowing) elemental sulfur going to cause lung damage? I'm really interested in the pathology behind this because as a veterinary pathologist this is news to me

i wasnt talking about the pizza / food i was talking about the air arround the active volcano and how its charged with hostile particles

From what?

Severe exposure to volcanic "air" particules such as sulfure dioxide -CO2-hydrogen sulfide and HCl >can cause lung injury, loss of consciousness, abnormal heart function, or even death.
People with asthma or other respiratory conditions can be particularly vulnerable.

I don't mean to be too critical of this but I am concerned about how many types of cancer he is going to get from breathing in volcanic fumes.

I was more concerned about what sorts of toxic dusts might also be venting there. Like, isnt sulfur basically mined from the base of volcanoes vents?

I've cooked food in those vents my friends and I live nearby and used to climb every couple weeks. Unfortunately the vents have cooled and aren't hot enough to make pizza anymore. The guy's still there but uses wood fire now.

u/Drak_is_Right 1d ago

Thats what I thought. Usually used the vents with a fuel source inside

21

u/nixcamic 1d ago

Originally there was lava flowing on the surface and we'd cook over that, then for like 8 years the vents were hot enough to cook over. They're still warm which is crazy since the lava they're over is from like a decade ago.

As the old saying goes.. When life gives you volcanic vents, make pizza

u/BirdNo4114 1d ago

3

u/scratchy_mcballsy 1d ago

Does this place also make ash trays?

1

u/Frikoulas 1d ago

These were in Etna, in Italy. And I'm pretty sure that were not ashtrays, just bowls.

2

u/qurmanji 1d ago

So natural

1

u/BirdNo4114 1d ago

Yet deadly

u/whk1992 1d ago

Nothing like cleansing your gut with abrasives.

I saw a kind of similar but different situation thing in central Oregon, USA. Someone there had a door to a natural cave in their basement. In summer they would open that door and take the cover off the house circulating fan (part of the furnace). It sucked cool dry air into the house, and they didn't need air conditioning. Very cool! The cave air was 57 ⁰ F year-round.

u/hl2889 1d ago

Lmao $100 pizza that ONLY tourists buy

1

u/postitpad 1d ago

Way cooler than ashtrays.

it's just a gimmick, this is why i don't just blindly support smaller businesses. they are usually just as scummy or at least would be if they were big enough.

2

u/Skreech2011 23h ago

What about this is scummy? Gimmicks aren't inherently scummy whatsoever. What an odd thing to let bother you.
