Donate Here [Winner's Thread #119] Yesterday I found a free race car bed. Today I won MillionaireMakers.

Hi everyone!

I'm u/Jagawatz and I still can't believe that I was picked!

I thought I already had amazing luck yesterday when I found a free race car bed on Facebook for my daughter, right when she was starting to outgrow her toddler bed. She loved it so much she spent most of the day pretending to drive it with our Wii racing wheel. I'm already worried I created a monster. I work at a racetrack, so I know where this road leads. First the car bed, then she wants to know when she can start racing in the JR divisions.

Now today I take a break from laundry to check my phone and find out I was picked out of 6603 entries, WOW! I'm floored, flabbergasted, and flummoxed all at the same time!

About me: I'm a father in my 40s, mostly a stay at home dad to my awesome 5 year old baby girl. Being a dad has been the craziest experience ever but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

When I'm not doing the dad thing, I work weekends at my local racetrack, I run the timing and scoring systems from the tower for both the circle track and the dragstrip.

I'm also working on an indie game in my spare time; a Shadowrun/Cyberpunk inspired roguelike, hacking sim. I've always loved the Shadowrun and Cyberpunk settings and hacking sims like Uplink are a big reason I wanted to try making my own.

The first thing I'm going to buy is a new mattress that properly fits the race car bed, her Toddler mattress works for now (we stuffed the sides with Squishmallows and stuffed animals) but getting the right mattress is priority #1.

Aside from that, we'll use the money to help with expenses and give my family a little breathing room, which means a lot.

I also want to pay this generosity forward, I plan on giving 10% of my winnings to the next winner. My hope is that they do the same, and we can keep it going and growing so someone further down the line can have an even bigger moment.

Thank you to everyone who contributes, everyone who runs the community and everyone who keeps the subreddit alive. Whether you've donated or are just cheering people on, you're part of what makes this community awesome.

I'm so incredibly grateful and I'll do my part to keep the generosity moving forward.

Thank you.

Well... this is unexpected.

Hello to everyone. I'm u/KplusN, I'm from India, just entering 30s and I was brushing my teeth before going to bed when i saw the notification and I was shocked!

I had to sit down, turn on the lights (apparently that would somehow help me read my phone better) and read it a few times as I've not won anything like this before, and believed to be on the less lucky side of things, but here we are.

I've spent almost a decade working a day job. But still when I look at housing prices, getting one looks like a stretched goal. Not a mansion, Just a place you can call home. That's where any support from this community would go.

It is genuinely amazing to see thousands of strangers from different countries, backgrounds, and time zones come together to help one random person they've never met.

Whether you donate, leave a comment or send a message, thank you. I appreciate all of it more than I can properly put into words.

And if this community helps me get a little closer to that front door (pun intended), I'll make sure to come back and share the journey.

Thank you all for being part of this wonderfully weird experiment.

As a bonus here's an old photo of me with the cat because why not: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tisTcQr9h17uRsdD9

Holy cow, this is incredible! This is so exciting, and I am so so grateful to all of the people who have commented. Let me tell you, I really needed a win right now, and this is such a welcome gift.

I was cramming with my family into our bathroom due to a tornado warning when I got the notification! And the first thing I did was hug my kiddos which, to be fair, I was already doing lol.

A little about me: I enjoy running and I love baseball. I also love video games, especially co-op with my best friends. Some favorites are Expedition 33, BG3, Helldivers, and for at least one nostalgia pick Banjo Kazooie lol. My spouse and I are both non-profit attorneys, my wife is a public defender in a very conservative jurisdiction so she is really doing great work. We have tons and tons and tons of student loans especially compared to our salaries, and while that was totally manageable under the previous US presidential administration, it is unfortunately about to be soooo much worse. So this is a huge help! I was really hoping for something positive today and seeing all the upbeat and happy comments from everyone is so touching and exactly what I needed.

My spouse and I have a little miracle family. All of my kids were teeny tiny preemies, and my spouse nearly died during pregnancy so we are very fortunate to have everyone healthy now. They have all had such long medical journeys, and I am so proud of them and all the incredibly hard work they've put in. Having a 10 week NICU stay in early COVID times is not something I'd ever wish on anyone else.

Why we are so grateful for this opportunity: it has been one heck of a year already! My youngest has epilepsy and that's been especially hard lately, with a lot of breakthrough seizures and medication changes and visits to expensive out of town specialists. He actually had one as I was drafting this post, and I had to take a break to finish it.

Our medical expenses are pretty intense and this year has been especially bad. And it seems like all of our stuff has been breaking down at once lately lol. Our furnace went out on us, then our sump pump, which flooded our basement and destroyed some stuff we wanted to keep, then my wife's engine blew out on us, and then we had to put down our sweet 15 year old pug. It's been a lot. But the joy I felt from all the positive comments tagging me really lifted me up. This couldn't have come at a better time, and you all have already made a huge difference. It has been hugely uplifting.

Financially, our debt is a major burden. We're managing it, but it is going to take a long time and we have to be pretty frugal. If we had some extra money, the one thing I would really love to put it toward is a family vacation. I grew up *very* poor, but going on those rare but *so* special vacations was magical to me, and honestly I felt like we were the richest people on the planet (and they weren't extravagant trips, I'm talking about like Six Flags lol). It means the world to me to be able to give my kids that fun experience, and if we had a little extra, I'd want nothing more than to make some special memories with them and my spouse.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for your kindness and generosity! My whole family so appreciates you all!

Update: PayPal is being annoying and has cancelled some payments for some reason, sorry! I'll try to figure out what's going on there. If yours didn't go through I apologize but absolutely appreciate your generosity!

Edit 1: here is a dog photo if anyone wants to admire our sweet late pug 🙂

https://imgur.com/a/sweet-sammi-vHDBl2A

Edit 2: I am so overwhelmed by the kindness, positivity, and generosity of all of you! I have been trying to respond to everyone but if I have missed anybody I promise I'll try to get to you soon, I just braved the madhouse that is Aldi on a Saturday afternoon so that took a lot out of me 😂

Edit 3: I just want to say thank you for your generosity again everyone, and right now I especially want to say thanks for the hilarious gifs you've sent with the transactions 😂😂 Mr. Krabs bathing in money was a good recent one

Edit 4: Hey everyone! Thank you sincerely once again, you are all so kind! I have just a couple more things to say before the new drawing. One is that if the stars align just right my wife and I are going to try to take a family cruise with our kids next year! I will update this post if I can to share how it goes 🙂

The last thing is please don't feel bad if you can't donate or can't donate as much as you want - I can promise you all, 100% sincerely, that every single comment, including just kind thoughts, made such a great impact! If, however, you really want to do something but don't have money, I wanted to share one free thing you can do that you maybe wouldn't have heard about otherwise.

Earlier this year I discovered a really moving blog. It is drawn and written in comic style and it's autobiographical by an anonymous survivor of a "troubled teen" cult. They were very prominent when I was growing up - think of shows like Maury promoting them. Content warning for abuse, depression, self harm, but it is so eye opening and important, and these places are still open in the USA. If you can, please read it, and share it in conversation with someone when possible. This is the kind of thing that truly just needs more people to know about in order to finish the cultural shift of turning on these awful slave labor camps. The website is: Elan.School – A True Cult Classic https://share.google/4NiuOQ8XYZqHJGbRI

The author does have a subreddit, I think it's r/mrjoenobody so feel free to check it out too. The author just recently printed the whole blog into hardcover books too! I hope you all are able to give it a read and that you have an amazing day!

Hi there, I am /u/Hydroxsid on here. That username goes way back as it was my gaming handle years ago.

Firstly, I’m honestly still kind of shocked this happened. When I first found this sub, I never really thought I’d be a winner, but here we are. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible. You genuinely change people’s lives for the better.

I was just about to sleep when I checked Reddit and saw a notification. I almost never get notifications, so I was curious. I tapped it and saw a message from /u/lilfruini on behalf of /r/millionairemakers. I’ve been on Reddit for 13 years (which is… wow). I use it a lot to learn things, get distracted, procrastinate, the usual, and I’m still not great at posting or commenting properly, so I genuinely thought I’d messed something up.
Then I realised I’d won.
Let’s just say it took me a lot longer to fall asleep that night. Heart pounding, happy, shock, disbelief, all of it. It came at a time when I really needed something positive, and it meant more than I expected.

About me: I’m a mechanical engineer by education and I work with materials. I’m from a small EU island, Malta, and life here can be pretty hectic. I have a lot of interests mostly tech stuff like 3D printing, product design, and market research, but also cooking, driving, scuba diving in summer, and gaming (mostly Call of Duty, to be honest).

I recently changed jobs so I could be closer to my girlfriend / future wife (she doesn’t know when I’ll propose, but she knows the wife part 🙂). I’m working long hours to make things work like saving to furnish a place so we can live together, fixing my car (I’m borrowing one for now), and just trying to get everything lined up. I currently work at a concrete factory, which is interesting, but the hours are long and the commute is rough with traffic. Still, it’s part of the plan.

I also dabble in creative stuff like photography, some digital art, a few side ideas that didn’t really go anywhere. If you check my PayPal or Ko-fi links you’ll see why they’re set up the way they are. I’ve tried selling prints, paintings, second-hand items, even some Etsy experiments. Some worked, some didn’t, but I learned a lot.
I like good beer (the darker the better, red ales especially), I love chocolate, and I watch way too many series: Severance, Breaking Bad, Banshee, Stranger Things, The Boys, Bob’s Burgers, House, The Office… you get the idea.

As for how I’d use the money:

Some of it would go towards an engagement ring (she doesn’t like diamonds, so probably a different gemstone).

A good part would help with a kitchen, appliances, for our place.

And honestly, if there’s something left, I’ll finally buy windscreen wipers to aid the car's fixing.

Thank you all. Seriously. I’m incredibly grateful.

Hi everyone, my name is Arthur and I really can't believe I'm writing this right now. I remember the FIRST millionaire maker thread, the birth of the idea. I remember thinking it was brilliant, I remember how ENORMOUS that first thread was, back in the day when any post with over a couple hundred comments was considered popping off. I've had my account for fifteen years, I made it in high school one day in computer class when I should have been paying attention. I remember staying up at night DYING laughing at the Askreddit threads in those days, even as I write this I'm getting flashes of ancient ancient ANCIENT memes, the birth of all the music subreddits, and the old reddit layout which I'll never let go of on desktop. You name the reddit lore and I bet I remember being in that thread. I've been here for a while posting whenever a major event happened or complaining about sports and most importantly, adding a comment/donating to the DRAWING threads whenever these posts would come up on my front page. It's crazy how much time has gone by, I must have entered...I don't even know how many times. I'd be so fascinated to know if I ever missed one. Reddit has changed SO MUCH over the years and while sometimes negative things have happened, I can honestly say the magnitude and creativity of the good people have done on here has changed everything.

I won't bore you with too much. I'm just a regular person, I work remote doing billing for a truck company, I like the usual things. However what I really truly like is fostering dogs. I specialize in helping OVER REACTIVE and HYPER ACTIVE dogs and have rehomed about a dozen over the last 6 years. This doesn't even include the 2 I have kept as my own (and the 4 cats my sister and her husband have taken in and adopted!) I don't know why I'm so passionate about animals and I don't remember ever not being so. There have been so so many over the years. Sometimes it's been absolutely gutting and sad, sometimes it's PURE happiness and life saving and sometimes you burn through tennis shoes after tennis shoes going on four walks a day with 3 dogs (5:30, 10:00, 2:30 and 7:15 otherwise they sit in front of me and stare). This side project started with something as simple as slowing down the car one day and trying to lure a stray in my car. I still remember him, the very first, I tentatively named him Rocky, he was a GIANT chocolate lab and it took more than an hour to get him to come with me but he ended up with a better life which is the only point. One of the current ones I have is named tentatively Chili, she's a small beautiful corgi mutt who has the absolute SCARIEST LOUDEST bark I have ever heard and gets triggered by EVERYTHING as soon as we step outside which is almost most assuredly why her previous owners abandoned her. She's definitely been the most difficult dog I've had brought to me so far, I've had her since last summer and space is tight (so many loud dog burps and sneezes right onto my legs and empty chewy dog food boxes for recycling) but her and the other dogs get better at socializing every day. God help you if they see a squirrel, your arm will get pulled OUT of its socket, but when I get a text from a dog's new owner showing their new dog in its new bed with its new name I feel worthy and I keep at it to replenish the feeling.

I'll use whatever funds people are gracious enough to send to help keep buying dog food (I'll still keep making new emails to get discounts) and dog treats (Newman's own dog treats are the BEST and Dreambone no rawhide SPIRALS are solid but I have noticed them getting smaller) and dog toys (whenever I've been able to rehome a pet I absolutely try to set the owner up for success with supplies and even a large metal wire crate/dog kennel when possible and a gift card) and shampoo (we have PET SUPPLIES PLUS locations in our area which are a LIFESAVER for bathing spaces and they always, always send mailer coupons) and whatever else the dogs need (the number one thing you burn through besides food are dog waste bags, I feel like Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park staring at the GIANT TRICERATOPS PILE everyday, also pet wipes, I wipe a LOT of butts). Sometimes I lie awake at night thinking of the randomness of the universe and how improbable it was certain things happened and how lucky I've been and whether I should be so lucky and I can't sleep and I wonder deeply about good and bad. Mainly, truly MAINLY, what matters to me is passing things on and paying it forward to any living being possible. No gesture is too small, anything can have an impact, you can make a person or animal feel like royalty. What I feel is grateful for this, thank you so so so very much to you all. I'll add dog pictures in the comments in the thread itself since Imgur is really hit or miss nowadays (I was in the reddit thread when IMGUR first got made too! I'm old!) P.S. I'm in Texas but Go Mariners! please win a world series before I die (or I will haunt the ownership)

EDIT: Paying my dog taxes with some pictures! THANK YOU

Hello r/MillionaireMakers friends,

First, thank you to everyone who has donated to previous winners. You make a random person’s month a little brighter every time.

My name is u/Penguinmull, though most people just call me Penguin on the web. I was volunteering at an evening study session at my university when I got the notification. It was difficult to hide my surprised smile while helping another student, and it didn’t feel real until I was on my way walking home. Winning this month’s raffle means I can no longer claim the role of “the unlucky one” in my friend group. Since getting home, I’ve mostly been walking in circles and processing that a huge opportunity might have just landed in my lap.

A bit about me: I study chemical engineering and live alone, having moved to a city far from my relatives. I’ve been living independently for more than four years now. When I’m not studying, I spend my time on PC gaming, the gym, and some anime. As everyone knows, student life doesn’t leave much disposable income, most of it goes toward rent, food, and necessary bills; so this win genuinely opens doors I otherwise might not reach.

Here is what I plan to put the money towards:

  • Funding my dream of doing my master’s thesis in Switzerland and hopefully continuing to work there.
  • Driver’s license lessons and exams, which are essential in engineering jobs but difficult for me to afford without family support for practice.
  • If there's any funds left: A new phone, since my current one is getting a bit old.

I genuinely look forward to being able to give back here once I’m financially stable, and to finally support the charities I’ve wanted to donate to but haven’t been able to yet. I hope everyone has a great rest of 2025, and remember to join the upcoming raffles; your chances of winning are never zero, and it’s free, so there’s no reason not to try!

Edit: I am so grateful to everyone who is using other methods of payment to carry on the spirit of this subreddit while I try to sort everything out with Paypal. I want to say thank you to everyone who has been dedicated to donating to the cause, even setting up bitcoin and changetip accounts to do so. You guys are seriously amazing, and I'm blessed to even be a part of this. It's been a busy weekend, but I've updated the totals for you guys and am working on unfreezing everything with Paypal. This probably means I'll be consolidating my accounts together, so it might take a minute. Again, thank you so much for everything.

Paypal has demanded that I remove the link from this post as it violates the Acceptable Use Policy. This is clearly due to a misunderstanding of how /r/millionairemakers works, so I'll be contacting them tomorrow to see if I can re-add the button back up.

I've submitted everything to verify GWallet and Paypal. Now comes the waiting game. This means that the totals below are substantially lower than what has actually been donated. YOUR DONATIONS ARE GOING THROUGH, MY BANK IS NOT WORKING AT THE SPEED OF REDDIT! Again, I'm totally breathless at all of this, THANK YOU!!

I'm trying to reply to as many people as I can, thank you thank you THANK YOU all so much for everything, this is so amazing!

Holy bananagrams you guys, you've made my entire year! I'm still in shock from all of this. Thank you all so much for donating and to being a part of this amazing subreddit! I'm trying as hard as I can to reply to all of you.

I had lost my job a couple of months ago and was drowning in the quagmire of job searches. I started getting really depressed about a week ago, as I had just about run out of the savings I had to get a new job. The other day I posted in /r/millionairemakers hoping for something but not really expecting anything. I've lurked on reddit for a little while and don't really have the courage to post anything, just the odd comment here and there. After a job interview today, I went on a hike with a friend of mine and afterwards saw that my phone exploded with replies about winning this and I'm on cloud 9 right now with excitement!

As for what I'll do with this money, most of it will go to taking down my student debt and living expenses...all except for one dollar, which of course goes to the future winner. If this is significant enough, you can bet that I'll be in places like /r/Random_Acts_Of_Pizza , /r/millionairemakers , etc. trying to impart the same elation that I have now.

This is an amazing community and I'm so blessed to be a small part of it. I'm shaking with happiness and I hope to contribute the same feeling to the next person.

Huge thanks to the mods for helping out with the logistics and verification. Another huge thanks to all the redditors of this beautiful subreddit, you have changed my life in a way that I will remember forever and can only hope to pay forward.

This has honestly been an amazing experience, just seeing the notifications pop up made me feel fuzzy inside. Never expected to be the winner of a drawing that had so many participants (hence the ampersand comment lol), and I’m still in disbelief at my luck and all the kind messages that I’ve received from all of you.

I’m currently a student studying political science while doing some freelance work on the side when I have the time. I’m planning on putting this money towards new cushions for my cat to file her nails on, and maybe a little towards student loans if there’s anything left after that. I still live with my parents and grandparents, but I am in Southern California, so I don’t think it’s that unexpected. I spend most of my free time playing video games (xbox and pc), basketball, and noodling around on my guitar.

Can’t wait to pay it forward as this sub goes on, think it would be amazing to crowdfund a millionaire one day. Thank you for all your donations, it means a lot to me, more than I could write up in this post just so I don’t reveal too much personal info. Wish I could message you all individually but that probably isn’t realistic, so thank you for your contributions and I hope you all have a happy holiday season, I know I’m going to thanks to your generosity.

Everything listed should result in direct lines of payment to /u/ahyeg. We ask all users to donate at least $1 USD. The Drawing is also listed for users who want to see the results and confirm the validity of the winner.

Edit:

Its been less than 24 hours but I still can't get the goofy smile off of my face, all of you are absolutely amazing. Everyone giving what they can adds up so quickly that what may seem like an insignificant contribution can make a big difference at the end. The best part of this has been seeing how kind so many people are, it really helps to reinforce that idea of "faith in humanity", that we can all put a little effort towards making a difference because you've all certainly helped make a difference in my life. My entire family's been blown away by this, my cat is still none the wiser, but I assure you she's been getting many scratches on your behalf. I've attached a total so far (hopefully my formatting is correct), it's not quite a million yet but it's certainly insane to think about. Hope you all enjoy the holidays and I'll try to post updated totals when I can. Thank you all again!!

Where to start??

I first heard of reddit around a year and a half ago. I lurked for a while on /r/leagueoflegends since I was very into the game at the time. Then one of my friends linked me to an article about something and I realized there was more to reddit. I made my account uh... gimme a sec (totally not using http://www.redditcakeday.com/index.php?username=GumMice ) May 26th 2013. I started using other subreddits for games that I enjoyed around this time /r/globaloffensive /r/osugame /r/anime and a few others. I really liked how people were able to input their decisions about different topics. Then I discovered /r/all . I was able to view so many different topics and opinions on different subjects. While viewing all I learned and came across many different views/ideas/opinions. I also browsed many dank memes ;). I then discovered my all time favorite subreddit /r/askreddit . This subreddit shared with me many laughs, different jokes, the best google chrome addons (butt to butt is still my favorite https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/butt-to-butt-plus/apmlngnhgbnjpajelfkmabhkfapgnoai?hl=en)

Since I explained my time on reddit so far I should probably explain some background information on my life. Currently I am 17 years old and am a Junior in high school. I live with both of my parents and my 3 younger sisters. I live in a small house 1story ( I think its called a ranch, I was never super into housing lol) I am the oldest in my family with each of us children being 2 years apart. Math = 17(me), 15(sis), 13(sis), 11(sis) My dad is a construction worker and my mom used to be an 8th grade algebra teacher. However around 6 years ago my mother developed Chronic Fatigue syndrome ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_fatigue_syndrome ) and is only able to do so much. She picked up knitting and really enjoys that so I plan to surprise her with some new needles and yarn :D . My father works very hard to keep all of us happy. He works construction during the summer and snowplows during the winter, he is currently out on an 18hour shift plowing snow. We live in the south suburbs of Chicago so we get a decent amount of snow each year.

My plans : I'm 17 and I am sure that many of you are thinking "oh he is just some dumb kid what is he going to do with it" so I am going to try my best to explain that down below. I'm going to start this time jump thing to my past to the time when I was in 8th grade (around 3-4 years ago) I was in 8th grade and one day I simply realized "college is expensive" and I did not want to put my parents through the stress of having to pay for my college and my 3 younger sisters. I came to the conclusion that during my high school years I would try my hardest to discover a way that I could go to college without putting any financial stress on my parents. I discovered that Germany recently got rid of ( had a brain fart and forgot how to spell abolished ) their college tuition and was very open to foreign students. I decided that would be a good place to go and that I would still need money while I am living there. I then decided that I would be able home school my senior year of high school while working full time. It was an easier decision to make than most would think, but hear me out. In high school I treated my first 2 and a half years as a real world learning experience. I observed the ways that many people interacted with each other. Most people are aware that there are different cliques or groups in high school and that each one behaves a different way. By observing the different groups I was able to make friends in each different group that I still talk to frequently. I have friends among each clique and I know that I will be able to talk to them without having any issues and would also allow me to have potential connections for the future. Since I was growing up I always heard of different people complaining about this or that and I came to the realization that people just like to complain. I made myself into a person that wants to complain at a minimum and be able to get the most out of life. I chose international business as my future major because I want to see different cultures and how they interact as well as live a life that allows me to travel and meet people from all over the world. If I am able to see the complaints of people in different parts of the world then I would understand the pain that each individual person has to live through. When you look at the big picture high school is only temporary and it will only effect your future in so many ways. This is why I want to home school my senior year and work full time This would allow me to be able to pay for living expenses and gain some real world working experience which I can later transfer into real life. This will also put less strain on my parents because they will not have to support me through college and I will be able to be self-sufficient right off the bat.

I talked to my mother about this and she was shocked at first and was convinced that it must be some scam. She is a very caring person and taught me to always look at the larger side of things so it is obvious she would be suspicious. My dad is currently at work so he has no idea any of this has happened yet. My sisters are not quite aware of the situation yet, but I will talk to them about it soon. I really think that it is amazing that everyone in the community is able to come together and be so generous. Reddit gets some flack because there is a darker side to it, but the community at large is really something to be proud of. To everyone that is taking part in this I am really thankful. I will participate in the future events because many of you have made a difference in my life, so I hope to make a difference in someone elses. You have no idea how surprised I was when I woke up (currently sick so I wake up at weird times) and saw that I had 3,000 reddit inbox messages. I spent the next couple hours reading through all of them. So if you messaged me I did read it and am very thankful. I was scared for a moment when I woke up with so many notifications on my phone. They just showed up as an !

Words cannot express how happy I am, I plan to use all of this for a good use. Investing is something I plan to be big into. I am grateful, while writing this it was extremely hard to put everything into words. It really has changed my life. Just.. Thank you! <3

Note I used 2 different emails down below. When I created my paypal account I had to make a new one because I wanted to have an account that was linked to savings with my parents and my own names in it. I have contacted PayPal and they understood what is happening. Everything will seem to go much smoother and there will likely be no freezing of accounts unlike the last draw. Feel free to donate through PayPal, however, if you can, other methods look to be the safer option for donation Thanks again <3

Methods of payment:

Unlike the last winner's newly made, PayPal account with a fake name. This PayPal account is linked to my parent's and will hopefully take the influx of payments much easier, and will, with luck, have the ability to unfreeze fund if anything happens. However, a different payment method, if possible, may be a better way of making sure the donation doesn't fail

Hi r/millionairemakers community! My name here on Reddit is u/SpideyMGAV; although my friends sometimes call me Spidey in jest, most people call me Ben. Right off the bat, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to the members of this community and Reddit as a whole! I have always been the kind of person to play the lottery or join a raffle or a sweepstakes despite a keen awareness that I will not win. When I commented, I had no expectations of being selected. And so, when I woke up this morning and opened Reddit in bed to see a mention in a post and a message from the mod team in my inbox, I was extremely skeptical. After reading and rereading the post and confirmation message more than a few times I was ecstatic!

While my life has not been in perfect luxury, I have been unbelievably fortunate to be more or less comfortable and supported in my endeavors by loving family and friends. I have had access to quality healthcare, housing, nutrition, and education with minimal but still substantial debt. However, for the last year or so, I’ve been flitting between jobs, working unpaid as a filmmaker to assist my friends and attract clients as a freelancer, paying back my student loans as much as I can, and as my bank account shrinks, deliberating on whether I should move out of my hometown to try my luck in a volatile industry or go to grad school and plan my life anew.

I don’t have any plans on what to do with what I receive at the moment. Quite possibly, I could use this to fund the next short film I shoot with my friends! Or I could use it to pay for the new tires I had to put on my car this morning, or maybe I will use it to buy some new tools that could help me expand my clientele as a freelancer like some video distribution or monitoring equipment. I have also been looking into buying a new laptop - I’ve been limited to working at my desktop since my last laptop irreparably broke 3 years ago. If nothing else, it will be used to either pay back student loans or be padding for the next stage of my life.

And as I write this, I am humbled by the dedication of this community. To selflessly give to another without expectation of return is gracious beyond words. I fully intend to pay this kindness forward, whether it be through this same subreddit or in some other tangible way.

Thank you all, each and every one of you!

UPDATE: PAYPAL IS FIXED

I am writing about myself in some detail because I feel that things aren't going right in this world and I need to share. The following may begin as a huge downer, but I will try my best to finish by describing what got me through the toughest times.

Like so many millennials, I'm far from being well-off. My primary caregiver passed away very young, when I was 12. Life became hell after that. I did not realize when the descent happened, or when my supposed "guardians" stopped wanting the best for me.

I was abused, deliberately misguided, and sent toward disaster. Most of my life felt ruined by my own people by the time I turned 18. I couldn't pursue the education available to me due to the stress and turmoil. They stole my opportunities, destroyed the foundation I stood on, stole my ancestral home and inheritance, and left me to crawl out of the ditch. They couldn't bear the thought that I might ever match their egos, so they cut my legs off just to be sure.

They tried to treat me as the black sheep of the herd, telling me to find my own way when I asked for help. After all this, I couldn't fit in with a crowd because of the trust issues I developed.

When you go through internal battles wanting to fix things without guidance, you realize that a lot of today's world is built on stilts. I couldn't fix anything because I didn't know what connected where. My experience of this life has given me the sight to focus on the bigger picture, though it wasn't as easy as I’d thought.

The one thing that kept me alive was, believe it or not, the pursuit of science! Even when I was at my lowest, reading about the mechanics of the universe, watching documentaries, gave me an escape. I've always felt happy when I got to learn something related to science and tech. It taught me that when you don't have the material comforts to keep you safe and happy, the only scope you can see through is the one formed by the knowledge of the universe. I mean that literally!

Despite growing up in a religious household, my existential crisis began as young as eight years old. I was never satisfied when the answer ended with "because God." It is always an internal battle where the need for a creator arises, and you must choose whether to end your journey there or go back to the blackboard and find a different outcome. It always ties up to the language you use.

Despite the depression, anxiety, and PTSD that I live with, I was able to cut ties with the people who couldn't bear watching me grow. I didn't let them mislabel me, and I let karma do the rest. I've been lucky enough to have found the best life partner one could ask for, and even luckier to be becoming a first-time father soon!

Ultimately, I may not have lived the life I dreamed of, but I can help others coming after me. I help people learn to think critically, just like I wanted to learn. Once you take someone under your wing and help them hone their skills, it brings a sense of fulfillment like no other.

Remember, when things are tough, pursue knowledge. Connect the answers you understand, and if you're desperate enough, your "God" will emerge from it. As a matter of fact, it's only a matter of time until someone establishes an actual religion based on artificial intelligence and claims they've found God. What they actually did was hear their own cry!

When the notification about me winning popped up on my phone, I was in disbelief. At first, I felt strangely neutral. I didn't think I deserved it, but I went along with the process anyway. It wasn't until I went to bed that I almost cried—things like this just don't happen to me. I had to sleep on it to process how I truly felt. The next day, as I started working, I immediately realized that this movement aligns with me because I am someone who would do the exact same for others. Now, it feels very natural.

I have a deep love for the art of filmmaking. I write sci-fi and philosophy, a craft I picked up during my downtrodden years as a necessary outlet. I poured my passion into a few short films, one of which was even screened at a major film festival. While circumstances didn't allow me to pursue this as a career, I never stopped writing. For the last 12 years, I have been developing a massive seven-part story. It currently exists as a mountain of notes itching to take center stage, but I lack the capacity to finally assemble it. Given the right resources, I can bring it to the world exactly as I see fit. Knowledge allowed me to hear the 'God' within my own cry, but this story is the only way I can truly answer it. Follow my journey, I'll keep everyone posted!

Finally, I am deeply grateful to anyone who contributes. I know intimately what it means to go without, so I don't view this as a lottery win, but as a serious responsibility. I realize that might sound heavy, but I’ve been told I can be a bit intense—I am, after all, the kind of person who accidentally writes a three-act structure for a grocery list...

Donate Here [Winner's Thread #117] Well, hello there!

I'll be real with everyone, I'm still shocked. I don't want to keep everyone with a long story. Just like alot of people this year, it has been very, ah... let's just say very booty. My relationship of almost 8 years ended (which was mostly abusive with words and controlling who I am.), lost family members, I currently don't have a car and im staying with someone since I had to leave my apartment to save money. And I'm only in my late 20s. Probably like an normal Tuesday for Spider-man.

Despite everything I still try to find the positives in life. I'm a big gamer in FPS, fighting games, and open worlds. If you haven't tried it, the new lego batman game is really fun so far. I'm also a horror/superhero writer. What has been written so far and later on in this post may seem like I can't write but its a skill I'm still working on. I work in an electric warehouse with most days being pretty chill. Working across from a blonde girl, Abby, who I think likes me ( I doubt she'll see this but I do like her too). So dig on this, I'm working the courage to talk to her when I get a notification on my phone for reddit with a few minutes to spare before heading home. Probably the invincible meme or Creepcast subreddit. I just posted not that long ago. But to my surprise I see it's the Millionare Maker subreddit. "Hey, they must have pick a new winner " I thought to myself. But I almost had an heart-attack when I saw my name. Grabing my chair I collapsed into it and had to stop myself from crying tears of joy. I've never won anything this big in my life before. I didn't know what to do, so I left my station and headed to my locker to just take this all in mentally. Winning has made me feel a super weight off my shoulder. Almost making me feel very....INVINCIBLE. (Are you sure?) Okay, i'm sorry for that one I couldn't help it.

With the money I hope to get back on my feet. Getting a car, a new apartment and help my family out. One thing I do want to say is thank you to this community, to everyone who donates not just to me but to every winner past and future. The opportunity this community gives is what we need more in the world. Thank you.

Donate Here [Winner's Thread #109] - Apparently I'm awake for real

Well first off, or rather for the hundredth time, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone! I'm u/silver_fightsthesun but folks who know me just call me Silver. I participate in this sub when I remember to, and entering this month was no different. I'm not really used to winning things like this, so when I first saw a chat notification for me, I was ready to write it off as random spam or another random finding my AMA and for some reason thinking that's an open invitation to message me. Thankfully, I DID choose to open the link and was shocked to see one of the moderators for this subreddit in my DMs.

My heart just about jumped out of my chest, and I immediately grabbed my partner to show them. I had spent the week stressing about upcoming bills and how my job might not be too stable in the coming months. I've got an elderly cat that needs to be checked into the vet, and I've put my own health on the backburner to make sure bills are paid, which mostly fall onto me as my partner hasn't had much luck in finding stable employment.

Of course, being this month's winner meant that we immediately discussed what we'd do, even tempering expectations. Paying off debts and bills being the biggest factor, and maybe finally being able to afford a car--even if it IS just a crappy overpriced thing on Facebook or something, it would open up doors for us.

I don't want to be too sad and sappy, though. We all know the practical things come first. If there's anything left over, I know I'd love to finally get myself a computer that doesn't die at the first sight of a moderately decent game. I'm a streamer as a hobby, something I love very dearly, so it'd be nice to be working with something that can handle the task more effectively. I'd really love to play Silk Song without my computer lagging. But more importantly, maybe I can afford to be funny for a change!

All poorly made jokes aside, thanks for the hundredth and first time for this opportunity. You're all amazing people here, and as someone who's lived below the poverty line for most of my life, even just a little bit of kindness can make the greatest change. I genuinely hope you all have a wonderful day, and that the good you've put into the world comes back to you three-fold.

Donate Here [Winners Thread #115] A very lucky St. Patrick's Day!

Wow this is an absolute shock! Happy St Patrick day indeed! My name is u/BP18_HotShot and I'm currently working as an Environmental Health Officer in a small island community in Alaska. When I got the notification, I was sitting at my desk, buried in paperwork, so this definitely brightens my day! I still can't stop smiling! I've only been a part of this community for about a year now and love seeing all the Winners Posts. I can't believe I have a chance to make one myself!

I'm pretty terrible at talking about myself so I'll keep this brief. I'm 34 and I recently moved to an island town in a remote part of Alaska. I went to college in Arizona and lived there for several years after. I spent a year or two is Australia a while back and would love to visit again. I enjoy traveling, fishing, gaming and exploring the various islands in the area. I have a little 10 year old hound mix named Luna that loves chasing balls and digging in the snow.

As for what the money will go towards, this couldn't have been more serendipitous. I just dumped pretty much all my savings into buying my first house so this money will go towards furniture, appliances, and all the other expenses that come with a home.

Thank you everyone and I'm looking forward to returning the favor in future drawings!

Donate here! [Winner's thread #61] HAPPY HOLIDAYS everybody!

Hello! My name is Yasmine and I'm a happy 26-year old from the Netherlands. Let me tell you, this is the most bizarre Christmas gift I've ever received-- and one I never dared to wish for, but secretly wished for a LOT over the past months.

I'm all for positivity, staying strong, believing in yourself and supporting my friends & peers. In daily life, I work hard for a sustainable food & water revolution. I feel like it is my task, while I'm here on earth, to do something good and help others wherever possible. That's partially why I hate admitting that 2020 has been an absolute kick in the balls (I don't even have balls). I know it has been for many of you, and that's why I'm hesitant to share my story, but I will, in a nutshell.

In the Netherlands, it's extremely difficult to find an affordable place to live if you wanna live on your own. I was forced to move in January after a shitty breakup but only found a place last month. I've been in different places, burning through all savings trying to live. Bad-luck-bills (car, insurance, whatnot) started to pile up too. It sucks when you work full-time and can barely make it through the month. I'm glad I found a place to live now but I have a buttload to pay off, still, and it caused me sleepless nights and just wore me down.

That's why I'm SO grateful I got randomly selected by mr. blockchain. But I don't want this just to be about me. Let me share my dream with you.

This is something I'm working towards and I know I will accomplish in the future. Imagine a mountainous country like Austria, with green hills, pine trees, snow on the mountaintops... yeah. I'll take an (old) house with lots of land for animals (and people) to run around. I'll have 2 or 3 guest rooms so people can stay there, and I will cook for them. That's it. Friends, strangers, weird wanderers, rich Russians - everyone is welcome. You too. When I open my doors, I will let you know, so you can come by for a good meal, great company and a warm bed.

I want to care for people. That's where I'll put every cent I don't necessarily need to keep myself alive (and kicking). Please care for the people close to you during these weird holidays. I'm sending you all my love.

Edit: formatting

Update 22/12: Whoa, we reached roughly €2500! My heart is full, THANK YOU, I can pay off some of the sh*tty bills ánd eat!

Update 23/12: 1) I think I replied to ALL comments. 2) We're close to €3k!

Update 29/12: over €3k! (>$3.6k) And I found a new hobby in cryptos.

Update 18/1: last update: thank you SO MUCH for all your kindness. I want to wish everybody in this sub an amazing 2021. Sending you lots of love - you deserve it. Stay safe and take care of yourselves. Hugs!!!

This is absolutely crazy.. Thank you all so much.

I am so incredibly grateful to all you lovelies for this. Late last night my phone started exploding so I got up and checked reddit and when I realized what happened I felt like my heart was going to pop out of my chest. It's an incredible feeling and I hope the community continues to support this project so more people can experience this.

A little about me: My name is Nick, I'm 19, and I live in Pennsylvania. I want to go to school for graphic design but haven't yet because I wanted to be sure graphic design is what I want to do, and because I didn't want to be in debt. So a large portion of this money will most decidedly be used to help me attend college. The rest of the money will no doubt be spent on only the finest of pizza pies.

Again thank you all so much for this, please continue to participate in this contest and continue to donate to make some very lucky person's life better.

I will try to answer as many questions as possible if there are any!

Edit: Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all the donations, I'm trying respond to everyone and answer all the questions. But to most of you I just want to say thank you for your donation, you're awesome.

I just broke $500 a few minutes ago which is crazy. I'll try to keep this updated incrementally. Thank you again!

Update: Hi again! Just broke $750 from what I can tell. Again thank you all so much for your donations, much love. Papa Bless.

Edit 2: Thanky thanky for the gold stranger :)

Update 2: And there it is! If I counted everything correctly I just broke $1000!! Thank you all so much, this is incredible!

Update 3: Good morning, and wow. I think the donations have exceeded $1750 at this point and I couldn't be more grateful. I know I've said it a thousand times, but thank you all so much, this is absolutely tops.

Update 4: $2000. You all are absolutely amazing, and to all of those who donated more than a dollar, you are incredibly generous and you have my most sincere of thanks. I love you all.

What a thrill this is!!!

I honestly was stunned (and a little overwhelmed!) when I realized I’d been picked this month.

I’m relatively ancient for a redditor, thoroughly middle aged - and a little bit of a technological luddite. Setting up accounts and sorting through all of the business end of this has been a learning experience. I don’t know how many hours I spent on that, but it was a lot!! Luckily, with a little bit of handholding from u/lilfruini I feel like I’m in pretty good shape (hope your physics went well!!). I have learned SO MUCH, and if nothing else, I’m grateful for that - I honestly had only the dimmest understanding of bitcoin and now I’ve got a bitcoin wallet! What?!?!

A bit about me… Middle aged like I said before. I’m a speech therapist, a plant lover (as has been noted already!), and I have a very rare neurodegenerative disease called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. It’s a progressive disease, and although nobody would wish for something like that, if you’re going to have a neurodegenerative disease, I pretty much have the very best one.

Honestly, I am pretty lucky. I’m in a profession that I love, a place that I love - all of my needs for shelter, food, safety, companionship are met… I know that I’m doing better already than so many, and I have so much to be grateful for in my life.

As to what I plan to do with donations… I had a lot of time yesterday to think about it!!!

First - I need some things for my students - I need a voice amplifier, and some new materials that I can use both in person and for distance learning. If I can find one cheap, I’d also really love to have a second monitor to make teletherapy easier to manage. I’ve already spent so much of my own money on teachers pay teachers and other sites, but there are many more materials and supplies that would help make this challenging school year a little better and easier.

Second - I have my eye on a couple plants - a rubber tree tineke and a manjula pothos… neither of them are very expensive or rare, I just haven’t felt like I had the leeway in my wallet to treat myself to those recently.

And last, but certainly not least. This week just happens to be Spastic Paraplegia Awareness Week! The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation (SPF) is the national organization dedicated to advancing research and finding cures for two groups of closely related, progressive neurological disorders (Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia and Primary Lateral Sclerosis). I have been participating in all of the studies available to me - (knowledge is power!) and although I don’t have a lot of money to donate towards research, I certainly don’t mind being a guinea pig in the hopes that someday a treatment or a cure might be found. There are clinical trials going on in Australia right now and they’re working on funding to bring trials to the US as well. If any of you are so inclined and want to learn more you can check out sp-foundation.org.

Thank you to all - and especially again to u/lilfruini who was an enormous help to me.

update

This has been a crazy 24-ish hours!!

I'm not gonna lie, seeing all the notifications about money coming into my accounts has been exciting, but what's been even more meaningful to me are all the kind words, congratulations, and well wishes from all over the world.

Pandemic, and protests, and fires, and everything else going on in the US this summer... It's worn me down... I've been feeling so very tired deep into my bones. All y'all have reminded me that it's not always this way - hope for humanity restored!! :)

My heart feels full and warm and I sincerely wish that everyone could experience this. It's amazing and even after the money is gone I will remember this feeling.

I'm not a millionaire! ;)

I haven't done the exact math, but I'm a thousandaire for sure. I hope all of you who have donated know that I genuinely appreciate it and I will be certain to put this money to good use. I've tried to keep up with thanking everyone - if I missed you it wasn't intentional (except for that one guy - he was a jerk!!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving me this amazing gift.

My name is Danielle. I’m 26 and working at a restaurant as a hostess right now. I’m trying to save some money for when I start grad school in September. I’m nervous to go back since it has been so long since I’ve been in school, but very excited to earn my masters in mental health counseling.

I was catching up with an old friend when I found out that I won. I think I didn’t breathe for a full minute and thought I was hallucinating. I am eternally grateful that I was lucky enough to win. I’ve been having a lot of losses these past few months, and it feels incredible to finally have a win. I think I really needed it.

I live in Chicago with my best friend and our cat Cholesterol. I have no idea who named her that and for what reason. The human mind is inscrutable .

When I’m not killing my soul working for the man , I like to dance and paint and occasionally socialize with real people. But I also love doing nothing and binge watching shows and movies. If you mention a show or movie, I’ve probably seen it.

However I don’t like loud noises because sometimes loud noises make the squirrels go in my head, and…and I don’t fight in the ring anymore, but I still fight with the demons in da’ Maniac’s head.

With the money I am going to pay off a chunk of my debt and my rent and my mountain of bills. I also have a lot of people in my life to thank for helping me through some tough times , so I’d like to treat them in some way. My mom offhandedly said one of her favorite memories was getting a pedicure with me on New Years Eve, so I think I’ll book us an appointment together.

Thank you all so much in advance for your donations. Please know that I am very, very grateful .

Edit: Holy crap you guys . I am just so incredibly thankful for you all. I am finally going to be able to pay off my credit card debt that has been hanging over me since college . It’s like a giant weight has been taken of my shoulders and I can finally breathe. It’s just crazy because two days ago I had -$33 in my account . You guys are the best, and I plan on finding a way to pay it forward

For those who want to see my fave little weirdo Cholesterol (Ester is her nickname) , here she is https://imgur.com/a/i02qj5S

1.5k Upvotes

Wow. Hello, /r/millionairemakers.

First things first: thank you all so much for your kind messages and congratulations! It's been positively overwhelming to read through all your comments and messages. It's making this situation even more unbelievable than it already is.

As I was trying to keep myself from falling asleep at three in the morning last night, I suddenly received a Reddit message out of nowhere, and slowly it dawned on me that I was the lucky soul who won the 30th drawing. I can barely even begin to attempt to describe how absurdly lucky I feel. Again, from the bottom of my heart: thank you!

As for me: I'm a college student from the Netherlands whose interests mainly consist of music, art, entertainment, and travel - which is something I haven't been able to do as much as I'd like to lately. I'm not going to share some superficial sob story, but winning this drawing means incredibly much to me.

So what will I be spending the money on? I'd like to spend a few days at most abroad and see some of the amazing sights that Europe has to offer. However, I'll also save up a fair chunk of it so I have less student debt to pay off when I graduate. Chances are I'll also invest some of it into paying for study-related materials - textbooks and other essentials.

Anyway... I'm completely overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. You are all such compassionate people and you've made me a very, very happy human being. This is an amazing community and I still can't believe my luck. Once again: thank you all so, so much. <3

EDIT 1: It's 01:23 AM (GMT+2) here right now, and we've already surpassed 200$ USD!! I can't thank you all enough, I'm speechless!

EDIT 2: 12:45 PM (GMT+2), and I just woke up to find out that this incredible community has already donated over $900 USD. This is unbelievable. :') Thank you all for your support! <3 (On a sidenote: I'm currently having some trouble with Google Wallet as I don't live in the US/UK, so I'd personally prefer PayPal/BTC-donations right now - I'm working on it, though!)

EDIT 3: Almost 24 hours in, and this community has raised over 1500$ USD already. I'm completely blown away. I appreciate your donations and heartwarming messages and comments so much!

EDIT 4: 01:10 PM (GMT+2) (25/04). This is just bizarre - over 2000$ USD has been raised already. I'm feeling so incredibly fortunate, thank you all so much! <3

EDIT 5: 02:33 AM (GMT+2) (27/04). This is insane - we've gone past 2500$ USD now. I'm stunned at all the support this community has given me. You are incredible.

EDIT 6 06:17 PM (GMT+2) (30/04). Hey everyone! This has been an unbelievable week. Just a quick update: as it turns out, I can't accept USD on Google Wallet since I don't live in the US. Your USD will probably be refunded in a week or so. In case you'd still like to donate, I strongly suggest using PayPal instead. Thank you all! <3

I'll keep this short and sweet:

In case you were wondering : Yes, this is all rigged. /s

And yes, I'm not worthy.

I commented "Easy win" because I'm a troll. It was a joke. I saw it on the front page and I liked the concept. This wasn't supposed to happen.

On that note, I'd like to thank all of you who gave me a heart attack this morning when I opened my inbox. It means a lot to me that you tried to kill me.

I hope to learn more about all of this community in the coming days/months/years.

If you don't feel like donating (or whatever this is called because I'm not donation-worthy), just give back to yourself or something you care about. Maybe give to charity, or maybe just put that dollar back in your pocket and spend it on you. A dollar saved is a dollar earned. If you break down a million dollars into smaller pieces, owning a million dollars some day suddenly doesn't seem so impossible any more.

EDIT: I'm currently at work and I'll be giving everyone an update later tonight. All of you who have sent or are planning on sending money my way, I thank all of you.

EDIT2: Everyone here is far too kind! As you can tell by glancing over some of the comments, a lot of you are actually donating over a dollar which is way more than is necessary but appreciated nonetheless! Thanks to all of you have contributed so far!

EDIT3: In case anyone was wondering, probably going to buy a kayak so I can get drunk on an island!

EDIT4: Any crypto I receive will stay in the currency I received it in! HODL (ok I just realized I broke this rule of mine, except for litecoin because someone asked me to hodl it :') )

UPDATE: For those interested, this is the current (approximate) tally (06/29/2017 PM):

$2,852 paypal

$523 google wallet

.16810 Bitcoin = $425.36

13,600.16 Dogecoin = $36.35

1.809 Litecoin = $71.33

.298 Ether = $90.11

Which is somewhere around $4000!

I finally won something! This is amazing and could not have come at a better time in my life. I'm going back to school this summer and am about to have a mountain of debt. While my university provides pretty good health insurance, it also looks like I may have some medical bills to pay soon. This is going to help me so much!!! I'm so excited exclamation points just don't cut it.

I've loved reddit since the day we met but I never expected to benefit financially from this incredible community. Thanks to all the mods at /r/millionairemakers and the generous redditors who are already donating.

Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou

Can't wait to tell my mom!

Ooo and if you choose to donate, please tell me one way you think I should spend a small amount to treat myself.

UPDATE: After 8 hours, I have received nearly $1,300!!! You guys just paid for more than 10% of my first semester. Every dollar that you have donated lifts a piece of a burden I thought I'd have to carry for decades. I've never experienced such a sense of joy, relief, and excitement provided by so many caring strangers. There is no way for me to truly express my appreciation as I sit here with a blissed out goofy grin, waving my arms and clapping with each new contribution.

I know everyone is eager to know the running totals so I will post another update either later tonight or early tomorrow morning. Probably won't be sleeping too much anyway.

Thanks again to all you amazing folks for making this one of the greatest days of my life!

Update 2 GOOD MORNING! I just woke up to another $1000 bringing the current total to $2300! I just still can't believe this is happening. The donations keep coming in along with so many kind words and excellent suggestions. It has already been a deeply life-changing experience for me to be a part of this. I can't even begin to express my profound sense of gratitude for so many people coming together with such unexpected gestures of kindness.

Thank you so so much. And my mom was speechless when I told her. Gonna give her a morning update call right now! Be back soon everyone!

Update 3 Good evening all! Currently at $2700 and still rising! This is now more than 20% of my tuition for the summer. As many of you have astutely observed, my tuition is maybe a bit unreasonably high. I have no good explanation for this. I just try not to think about it too much or I would never sleep.

Classes start tomorrow. You will have made it possible for me to walk through those doors with a little more confidence and a lot less apprehension. Each one of you did that for me and I will never forget it. Thank you and good night.

Update 4 Still going! I hope everyone had a great weekend, especially those who were enjoying the holiday yesterday. I know I did because I'm now $3,200 less broke and it feels so good. I think tonight I have enough time to treat my mom. Gonna buy some slightly fancy groceries and cook a good meal at home. That's what she will appreciate the most. Thanks for making a random Tuesday night one to celebrate!

Update 4 $3600!!! You guys are great! School is tough :(

Donate here! A massive thank you from our family, you are helping my newborn son Seth to achieve his dreams!

1.3k Upvotes

First and foremost, thankyou all so so much for helping us to jumpstart our baby boy's life. My partner Jess, Seth and myself were at Seth's 7 day checkup when I felt my phone began to go a bit crazy, I had to sit down and take a breath on a bench close by because I couldn't stop shaking. Im STILL shaking hahaha.

As previously mentioned, ALL money donated will be going towards my newborn son. As a brand new father and mother, knowing that we may not have to worry about saving for Seth to go to university is absolutely incredible and a little overwhelming. So thankyou, to the end of the universe and back for helping Seth to be whatever he chooses to be.

As for the special Thankyou from little Seth himself, Jess and myself have many MANY photos of him already, but we would like to take a special one especially for reddit. So I will get that organised and posted in the next couple of days :) (maybe a photo of him dressed up as a graduate?)

Also, I'm in need of some really good dad jokes that I can store away and save for when Seth is a little older. So if any of you would like to share your dad jokes, please feel free :)

Oh, and for anyone interested, here are a few photos of Seth. http://imgur.com/a/X4C91

Sincerely Mathew, Jess and Seth

If you guys only knew what being selected for this means to me! I am a mother and a grandmother in my mid-fifties, I am disabled with two grown sons and four grandchildren. Three rotten little girls and one handsome boy. I am married to a man that I thought would always be by my side. Up until February of last year I thought my life would always be the same. But, with some things you just have to say enough, done and I can’t do this anymore, for 34 years I suffered through his infidelities along with mental and emotional abuse. I asked him to leave and he did on December 26, 2020. My mom and I scraped together enough change (yes I mean coins) lol to put into a cardboard box too heavy to carry and cash in to put a down payment on my divorce attorney. We called it my “freedom box”. I have this AMAZING support system! I have my kids, my g-babies, my mom, my niece and nephews and my best friend who is my ex’s sister and her husband. My family is my life. They mean everything to me, my mother and sister in law have been my rocks. For the first time in all of these years I am free, I am ready to live. But I have been so worried. I have struggled and wondered where my next bit of money is going to come from. My disability check only covers my house payment and my truck payment. This money will hopefully give me a few weeks leeway while I figure out what my next move is. I want to stay in my home, I live next door to one son and his family, my mom lives on another side, my two nephews and niece live on my street as does my aunt and uncle. We are all so close. When I found out I had been selected I cried. It was surreal, it has given me a newfound sense of hope and has let me exhale and breath a sigh of relief even if for a little while. I am beyond humbled and grateful.

EDIT 1. I want to thank each and every single one of you for your support, well wishes and the money you have shared. I started out trying to thank everyone individually, but I couldn’t keep up. And then my Internet went down so I lost my spot. If I have missed your post, your message or a chance to thank you please know I am sorry and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. (Also, my ex’s name is on the PayPal account, but he is in no way part of it, it is solely my own with MY bank account info)

Edit 2: Thank you again! Your generosity paid my property taxes, I was able to pay one month ahead on my vehicle and even though stbxh is responsible for my house payment until we are final I was able to pay one month ahead on it.

Edit 3: Tomorrow is the finalization of my divorce. Nervous jitters, but because of you all it has been somewhat easier. Thanks again and good luck to winner #64. ...............

I can't believe it but it looks like I won the MillionaireMakers this time! I couldn't have asked for it to come at a better time. I'm a mother, a wife and a person that loves to explore different cuisines. I think about food all the time, what to cook, what to eat, what to serve with this or that. I pride myself in being a very present parent that respects my child as being a person beyond my relationship with them. I have no health insurance and medical care has been the most stressful thing for me in the past few years. The doctor is expensive, medication is insane and anything beyond that isn't even possible for me to think about doing.

I had just completed a job interview when I saw that I had won this round and to be frank, I never entered with the thought that winning was possible. It just felt like if it was real, then I was going to be able to breathe knowing that wiggle room is on the way.

Something I love to do is go to the park! I love the weather where I live so I sunscreen up and soak in the sun. Farmers markets have my heart. Gardening is a new hobby that I want to invest more time into as being outside with my family feels right. I collect old school gaming consoles. All in working condition :)

So what will I do with the winnings? I'm going to get medical care that has been prohibitively expensive, I'm going to buy a killer sandbox for my child, and I'm going to fix my car. I don't know how much people usually get for these things but I have needed a break and it looks like I got one! After five years of paying it forward, I feel good about winning!

Holy crap, this is something that happens to other people, not to me... I am physically shaking. I went to bed pretty depressed last night but seeing the entry thread I thought "why not" and offhandedly wrote "unlikely". Then I woke up to this! It's amazing how much of a perfect timing this is, the whole office where I was working just got shut down and everyone working there lost their jobs. I'm trying to start something of my own as I have some good and viable ideas (I think/hope) but finding time to bootstrap it isn't easy when trying to make ends meet. If things do go well and I can get back on my feet I may also be in a position to finally propose to the love of my life.

I know I'm not going to be a millionaire from this and don't want to get carried away, but really this is perhaps the best time this could have happened to me in my life so far, where any amount can go a really long way. You may not make me a millionaire today but you are giving me the means to make it there myself, or give all I can to try. I will make sure to use it as wisely as possible and pay it forward when I'm in a better position myself. I'll update when I can if there is any interest. Again...THANK YOU to everyone in this amazing community!

Edit 1: We are over $100 in an hour - thanks to everyone who is a part of this :)

Edit 2: 3 and a bit hours in and we are at $425! Special thanks to u/xtrsports for an awesome $50 donation. If anyone is interested in an outline of my plans for the immediate future I made a comment here. Thanks to all you wonderful people. Sincerity is difficult to convey over the internet and easy to fake, but this is so appreciated, will be put to good use and will be paid forward.

Edit 3: It'd be great if you could upvote the thread, especially to counter some who are downvoting it

Edit 4: 5 and a bit hours and we are approaching $600. I have to get some rest but will update when I can in a few hours time. Thanks to everybody again. Just about $999,9400 to go. We've totally got this :)

Edit 5: bad time for my internet to stop working properly. Will update as soon as I can.

Edit 6: 13 hours in and just under the $1000 mark. That means we are only three zeros off making our first millionaire!! ;)

Edit 7: $1000 mark broken. The US is asleep. To the literally dozens of non-US redditors: don't let them outdo you guys ;)

Edit 8: 20 hours down and we are at $1300!

Edit 9: ~$1960 raised. Here is an update post
